I don’t remember now when this picture was taken where we had another heavy snow accumulation on the ground. I’ve experienced several blizzards here in Philadelphia. That’s when all supermarket gets emptied. Back in the 90′s, it was back to back. I remember the storm of the century, two storms that converged on the east coast, dumping an unbelievable wall of snow in the area, the city was closed for three days. We could not even move and go anywhere in our development. There was no place to throw the snow. They’re not even melting.
We have severe weather alert in Philly. It goes like this:
- Tonight: Snow showers. Low 26F. Winds NE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70%.
- Tomorrow: Windy with snow of varying intensity. The snow is more likely to accumulate during the afternoon. High 29F. Winds NNE at 20 to 30 mph. 2 to 4 inches of snow expected.
- Tomorrow night: Periods of snow, heavy at times, along with gusty winds. Low 22F. Winds NNW at 20 to 30 mph. Snow accumulating 5 to 8 inches.
- Sunday: Mainly cloudy with snow showers around in the morning. High 34F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 60%.
- Monday: Morning snow showers. Highs in the mid 30s and lows in the low 20s
Originally, the forecast was an snow accumulation of anywhere between 6 to 20 inches of snow. Of course, the past snow forecast in the area never really happened. From what I remember, it’s been over 5 years now that we have not had any serious snow accumulation in the area. In fact, there was one winter where we did not get any snow at all. California did.
But snow storm is both scary and fun. Scary if you get caught in the highway, your car stuck in the snow. It’s actually beautiful driving after the snow storm, when mountains and hills are covered with snow and everything you see are white. It’s like being in a different planet.
And sure, that’s when everybody gets to be a kid once again. Hehehe!
