UPDATE: 4:22pm EST 10/3/09

Project: Barrio Bayanihan For Ondoy Victims IS NOW CLOSED. Given that the Philippine National Red Cross in Manila is now accepting Paypal payments, we have decided to wrap-up our project. We are no longer accepting donations. Please course your donations to the Philippine National Red Cross in Manila. Thank you all for your unbelievable support to Barrio Siete and to our fellow Filipinos and kababayans. Full details coming up soon! ~La Kapitana, Reyna Elena.

Ondoy_Pasig

My fellow bloggers, readers and lurkers; it breaks our heart seeing all these images and watching the videos coming from Manila – the wrath and devastation not only to properties but also to the lives of our fellow Filipinos. Tropical typhoon Ondoy is not only creating havoc but also bringing epic floods in the Metropolitan Manila area.

In the spirit of Barrio Siete, I invite you all to join our Bayanihan Fund Drive: Donate to Ondoy Flood Victims. Very simply:

1.) Make a donation to our Bayanihan Fund Drive: Donate to Ondoy Flood Victims. If you can’t, then help us by making this viral and create an entry entitled: “Bayanihan Fund Drive: Donate to Ondoy Flood Victims“. A link to this original entry will be appreciated where your readers can make a donation. Please leave us a note in the comment section if you are joining so we can list your entry, in case the pingback doesn’t work.

2.) Invite other bloggers to join our “Bayanihan Fund Drive: Donate to Ondoy Flood Victims”

3.) We will list the names of the donors in a worksheet, their organization and/or their websites, unless they prefer to be anonymous.

4.) The listing will be updated regularly and will be posted here in Barrio Siete Dot com.

5.) We are only accepting monetary donations in currencies accepted by Paypal.

6.) All donations will be remitted only to the Philippine National Red Cross in Manila. (We have not made any contact with them yet.)

7.) If you prefer: You can make donations directly to the Philippine National Red Cross. Here is the link: Ways to donate

In Barrio Siete, this is where you can make your donation. We will in turn, turn this over to the Philippine National Red Cross.

8.) Reyna Elena’s entry on Ondoy here is getting a lot of messages from readers asking for help and assistance. If you are reading this, please head over to that entry and respond to some of the questions if you know because it kills me that I don’t know the answer to their questions or their plea for help. Hopefully, there is one here who could help.

Paypal Donate Button now deleted from this entry

Here is the listing of donations made to Barrio Siete’s Barrio Bayanihan For Ondoy Victims.

EAST ORTIGAS, LIFE HOMES, DE CASTRO, MARIETTA ROMERO UPDATE

If anyone of you knows what’s going on in East Ortigas. That’s where I live and I cannot contact anyone. Not even relatives dun sa LIFE HOMES or DE CASTRO. We have no news how high the flood was or how are the units in East Ortigas or if there was an evacuation, kung saan dinala. I am just truly nervous since kahapon pa.

Sa sarili nating barrio siete baka pwede padala ng clothing, mga kumot, especially yung para sa mga bata na walang nakuhang mga damit sa baha… Will make instructions to my mom in Davao to corrdinate. if someone from barrio siete is kind enough to make coordinations sa davao, then that will be better.

Mahalia, I think it will be better if we tap our resources sa barrio natin sa pinas. I mean, mahirap din kasi kung galing pa sa abroad. Our fellow kababayans need help. NOW.

If you can donate money, good, there are a lot of organizations na may bank accounts. will take days though. pero baka pwede sa mga Western union. Other than that, more than the money, they need clothing. they need medicine, they need blankets.

Nakaka awa yung mga batang walang tuyong damit. :(

Hello Reyna,

thank you that you make a move and you help those poor people in need.

I have one question though.

How will you prove, to all the people that have donated their money,

that it was remitted to the Philippine National Red Cross in Manila?

Greetings from Germany

Peter A. Whitcher

[Reply]

reynz September 28, 2009 at 3:05 am

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your donation by the way:

1.) I have a complete list of who donated and the amount of the donation. I will blog about the complete list on a spreadsheet.

2.) I have just sent an email to the Philippine National Red Cross. It’s about 2:58PM EST right now, so it’s about 2:58AM early morning in Manila, and hopefully they respond by email, otherwise, I will call them to see how to remit the funds.

3.) I have donations in the US that will take 3 business days to clear from the bank to the PayPal account so, hopefully, I should be able to make the 1st transfer or remittance before the end of this coming week.

4.) I will wait until I’ve talk to a representative from the Philippine National Red Cross to find out if they have a PayPal Account which would be easier.

5.) If not, I can also transfer the funds by wire through the PNB Remittance Centers (which I use) and they issue and electronic confimation that I can post and is verifiable.

I hope this answers your question. Should you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

As of Sunday, the site was able to raise $170 from Philadelphia, Texas and Ohio in the United States.

“It breaks our heart seeing all these images and watching the videos coming from Manila—the wrath and devastation not only to properties but also to the lives of our fellow Filipinos,” the blogger wrote.

i experienced the wrath of Ondoy first hand. sobrang scary pala mag lakad habang bumabagyo. parang anytime, pwede ka lamunin nun baha or ma-shoot sa manhole

2 hours akong nag lakad libis to cubao lang yun…yun ibang kasabay ko, pasig pa lang naglalakad na pauwi sa fairview etc.

sa crame area, andaming 2nd floor na bahay ang naging first floor bigla

i will make a post abt this later. thatnk you reynz, let’s keep the BS spirit alive!

Tomorrow, which would be PM in Manila, I will call PNB Remittance in Los Angeles and see if they can waive the fee to send the funds to Red Cross in Manila.

Naawa ako dun sa mga taga provident. Gawd. I really really pity them. I saw pictures sa facebook na even their pet dogs, di naisalba. Nakita na lang patay dun sa garage. Worst, may isang dog na kaawa-awang nakabitin sa meralco lines (nakatali pa sa chain nya).

What happened to our country is so heartbreaking. :(

#30 will be the last update for tonight. it’s about midnight in Philadelphia now and i’m currently taking medicine at pag ininom ko to – plastado ang lola. so, if there will be other donations, update will be in the morning eastern standard time.

also, i will call PNB Remittance in Los Angeles tomorrow and hope they waive the transfer fee. tomorrow will be evening in Manila.

which means, i will have to wait for evening in the East Coast to call Red Cross Manila.

hope you guys are understanding the time difference but i expect to make a transfer before the end of the week.

we in barrio siete are very happy getting donations from all the people around the world. many many thanks

and i hope to hear some updates about what’s going on in east ortigas, life homes, de castro, executive village in cainta and ever gotesco.

nite people! hasta la vista!

I’m from Marikina by the way.. though my family were safe in this catastrophic event, I still ought to give my share of support to those who are needy…

Bayani Fernando is not my public servant and the rest of Fernandos… They allowed Marikina to be clean but not ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE… SM Marikina development was a big factor in this flooding in Marikina… Prior to this, there were a lot of disapproval on developing Provident Village since this was a potential hazard for the community…. It lies near the river side and perhaps the lowest area in that district… It was found uninhabitable… Now we have a number of people there who died unnecessarily..

For people of Marikina, please do not vote Fernandos… they just systematically exploted us…

Thanks…

Mudra reyna,

Ang sakit talaga sa dibdib. I cant stand the pain seeing my countrymen na ito ang nangyayare sa kanila while some of the f***ing politicians ng bansa natin e mga tahimik!

Yung mga mahilig magpapogi sa media this last few weeks e ni hindi mo makita na sumasali sa rescue or dumawdaw man lang sa tubig baha. ‘Nyemas eh!

Dencios and I share the same sentiments. Kung kelan mo kailangan ang mga foolitikos na ito, in these times of tragedies e parang mga absent ang iba sa kanila! Hmpt!

This is very motivating and proves that the bayanihan spirit in us is still alive. However, sana yung nalikom dito sa campaign na to ay mapunta sana sa mga talagang nangangailangan. At wag sana mapunta sa bulsa ng ibang pulitiko.

Just a warning pala, maybe you are searching for “ondoy update”, “ondoy typhoon” or “ondoy flood” in Google, I found out that there are virus/trojan/malware that shows on the first/second page of search results. I think I am the one who blogged about it.

You can see it here:
http://ronaldredito.org/blog/313/ondoy-update-virus/

If ever, please re-tweet or repost in your Facebook accounts to warn other people, especially those interested to send donations. Baka mabiktima laptops or desktops nila. Mahirap na.

Thanks.

Most part of our village located in Cainta Rizal was still submerged in waters. We already evacuated the place. We went back yesterday to get some clothes but we were surprised that the water level remained the same.

I also blogged about my experience with Typhoon Ondoy. Hopefully, the waters will subside fast! Calling Mayor Mon Ilagan, please do something to flush out the water in the whole of phase 7.
