Confessions of an Economic Hit Man: John Perkins

by reynz on July 16, 2009

I was in my last year sa business school when I was given a book by my classmate. “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man“. Taka ako! Meron bang ganun? Ninam-nam ko sya over the weekend although dahil otsenta anyos na ako, di ko na maremember yong iba. Talo pa nito ang mga KGB stories I used to read in high school. Nag-bago ang paningin ko sa mga World Bank loans na yan. Nun, ko lang nai-intindihan bat’ yumayaman ang ibang tao particular na sa Pinas. Nun ko lang naintindihan ba’t kaya yumayamann bigla ang ibang mga pulubing dating mga pwe-sidente. Nun ko lang nalaman kung bakit ang ibang tao sa mundo eh galet sa bagong bansa ko. That is, kung papaniwalaan nyo to. Pero, nasa-seyo na yan. Pakinggan ang mga sinasabi nya. Relate na relate ako sa mga (porsyentong) nangyayari sa bayan ko. Ang drama ko lang, share ko senyo.

naku reynz, totoo lahat yan, maniwala ka! it’s the world’s dirty secret that no one talks about, not mainstream media anyway, dahil i have a feeling they don’t know, they have no idea, mga hindi kasi nagbabasa o nagtatanong. kung ikaw, after all your schooling and then pakikisalamuha sa corporate people of america, ay ngayon mo lang nadiskubre, kapanipaniwala di ba na media are just clueless. OR if some of them know, hehe, quiet na lang sila kasi they know which side their bread is buttered on, ika nga.

Hmpt.

angela, it’s almost impossible siguro to level the playing field dahil ang mga nag-lalaro eh saling pusa lang ang pinoy puro mga foreign germs ang nakikita ko.

shock and awe ako after reading the book. natulala baga. dun ko talaga na-realize bat ang mga umupo dyan, like marcos, like estrada like gloria now, lomobo nang lomobo ang mga utang naten. bits and pieces of course alam na naten what’s behind, who’s behind and how much is behind every govt contract and why some people would literally proclaim sa mundo na they practically own the philippines. i think tong librong to was like one bridge that completes the circle for me. nun ko lang na-gets nang buo. at mas lalong malakas ang feeling ko na merong sum’tin sum’tin ang pamilyang nakaupo ngayon.

as far as media? interestingly right, pero yeah, napag-isip ako. iisip pa ako hahah charing but which one of the media outfits ba sa pinas ang nag-diskus nang mga issue na to? hahaha leche baka madale ako nito hehehe

Our Foreign Debt as of April 2009 looks like this:

Foreign Debt In millions of pesos Apr/09 P1,857,295.
Now, kung ang presentation nito is millions of pesos, it looked to me like this is which is almost P2 trillion? Tama ba?

Look in here: http://www.nscb.gov.ph/sdds/nsdp.asp

Now, magkano ang nakuha or suhol sa mga nakaupo? Yan ang tanong na kahit di naten alam, reality check will tell us na maraming kababalaghan.

Hehe. Kung natulala ka sa Confessions of an Economic Hitman, sa Celestine Prophecy e kakausapin mo ang diwa mo. Hehehe.

At true mudra, uber mahal ang libro dito. Kung yung hardbound na harry potter e nasa 1,700 petot baka yang confessions of an economic hitman e nasa 2,500 petot max.

Dapat alam ng lahat yang topic na tinatalakay niya dyan.

Arbor ko na lang book mo na naiwan sa pasig *wink* *wink*

i think the mainstream media knew. ayaw lang halukayin. kasi still, yun mismong corporate heads ang tatamaan nila. even if you would want to bite the hands that feed you, they could easily shut you down. so ika nga, why try?

why bother buying the book. you tube carries interview about J. Perkins’ experience as the hit-men in this subtle covert operation. save your money guys.

di ko alam kung anong scientific basis, pero i think mas gumagana yung utak natin when we read it through the book as compared to reading it online. baka feeling ko lang.

It makes for interesting reading, but sometimes the author sounds like a mouthpiece for the left-leaning, tree hugging, hippie crowd.

No offense sa mga aktibista.

^ True. But its an interesting read but not really a surprise to me since we are privy to such acts (specially in my line of work..economist..) Confessions of an Economic Hitman is around 700 pesos in Powerbooks
