Lessons to be learned
There are two (2) marketing/business ethics and social climbing lessons that business students and all of us can learn from this Boyet Fajardo “Kilala mo ba ako episode” and Ricky Rivera’s “Creative Outbursts” fiasco.
- How to ruin your label.
- How to hire a spokesman and do damage control.
How to ruin your label.
There is not much to talk about the 1st part. Boyet Fajardo himself had demonstrated to us perfectly, the lessons on how to ruin your label. Step by step, blow-by-blow, passport flying, unsigned IDs and feeling royalty. We don’t need any more powerpoint presentation.
How to hire a spokesman and do damage control.
But, take a look at comment #41 left by AD Macaldo on my entry: Boycott Boyet Fajardo: Ricky Rivera no-logic explanation on Duty-Free Scandal. His comment pretty much sums up what your spokesman can do for you. That is, push you deeper into the quagmire.
Good business partners
Publicists, spokesman, PR and advertising agencies, generally, will give you the needed media exposure with the objective of increasing your sales, creating media awareness with the intent to capture some market. Bottom line? Bloated cash flow.
1.) They generally have a long list of contacts with news, advertising and PR agencies that you don’t know and have access to. What you want is access, network and relationship. Rather than you knocking on each door, you want to knock on one that will open you up to this great connection.
2.) They do this work day in, day out and if you find a good one, they could probably offer you how to manage the maze, make strategic decisions that would work for you better.
3.) They work on many clients and with that, they are able to cross market to offer you instant and get mass publicity helping you gain recognition to even those remotely and unknown markets out there in the wilds.
Reality is, there are a lot of impostors, pretenders and actors out there in the wilds who will grab the opportunity of you being vulnerable for their own self-serving objectives. If you are not careful, don’t maintain your composure, your calm under pressure, chances are, you’d easily grab one without thinking and expect them to do a great job of damage control for you.
Damage control
That’s why you hire and get the services of these people. Publicists, PR and advertising agencies or spokeman to be your wall.
Let me repeat, the bottom line is that, you wanted your reputation to either sparkle in colors or be saved from damnation because that’s where your sales and your cash flow depend. Because in times of blunders, they are there to assist and help you on damage control.
Interestingly, this is turning out to be a classic business school case study. So, here’s my discussion question to you:
Seriously, what would you have done if you were Ricky Rivera in this situation?

boyet fajardo himslef must have been pissed by the spokesperson that he came out and explained by himself.
What is wrong with the strategy of the spokesperson? It is all bloody wrong.
first he used the “blaming the victim defense.” . This is blaming the victim a partially responsible for the abusive maltreatment, the spokesperson must have been reading the “nicole recanting affidavit”. It is also about blaming individuals for their personal distress or for social difficulties. I know one blogger who accused the cashier that the reason why he was strict on getting his ID because he saw that fajardo hasa physical disability, he’s limping. how did this blogger know? i did not notice that in the video,
second, will the photo id shows his limp to verify it is really him. di ba moronic to the core.
O kaya di va sabi ni boyet fajardo, biktima din siya?
second, he invoked the philippine pride of the opportunityof the fashion industry be recognized in other parts of the world.
nobody noticed the stupidity here except kitty go, the former magazine editor.
She said thatwhat fashion design is he talking about the middle east? those women are wearing burga.

If I were in Ricky RIvera’s shoes, I would rather shut up first and assess the scenario before speaking up: What really happened, what’s the real score ika nga. Halatang hindi napag-aralan ng mabuti ng spokesman yung scenario then tries a lousy attempt to make an outrageous excuse: CREATIVE OUTBURST.
The PR guy should know that the Filipino audience is not STUPID, so dont he dare to make stupid horseshit excuses. Hindi bobo ang mga Pilipino.
In this case, its not Boyet Fajardo’s career that is going down the drain, but also the PR man himself. Kasi naman, dedepensa na nga lang kay Boyet Fajardo, gagawa pa ng maling excuse. I mean, really? Undeniable yung evidence, it was caught on video so how you will make an excuse out of that?
It will be much better if Boyet himself (and made it honest in the first place rather than mag-telenovela pacry-cry which makes him insincere), admitted his fault instead of letting his PR man, make a horseshit excuse: CREATIVE OUTBURST.
Added to that, I read in a blog post na one of the reasons why Boyet got ballistic daw kuno are because of these reasons DAW:
1.) The cashiers dont want him (Boyet) to buy those chocolates e is because he is physically limp daw?
2.) That the cashiers wanted to make fun DAW of Boyet because he is physically limp guy
3.) And the cashiers DAW couldnt believe that Boyet is capable of having a credit card, just because he is gay and handicapped?
Ang tanong: Pano nya nalaman ito? Is he a witness or what? I didnt see Boyet Fajardo limping. I didnt see that the cashiers mock him because he is gay and handicapped. And purlease…duty cashiers are professionals……
Is he watching the CCTV clip?
And what makes me more irritated out of these reasons is the use of wrong excuse about someone’s handicap.
I have a sister who is a REAL handicap – she is HEARING-IMPAIRED but we dont use her handicap as a lame excuse para lang makatapak ng dignity ng ibang tao.
Hello, everybody can buy chocolates whoever they are. I dont see any shit piece of logic in these reasons that I found in a blog and in Ricky Rivera’s excuse:CREATIVE OUTBURST.

My apologies for ranting here but I cant hold it anymore. Naasar din ako. Ilang araw na akong nagpipigil but everytime I see those reasons, umiinit na din ang ulo ko, especially sa rason na physically limp daw si Boyet Fajardo or what. Lalo na ang salitang HANDICAP.
Kasi naman, gagamit pa ng rason na handicapped daw everlu, physically limp daw kesahodang pinagtatawanan daw ng cashiers etc. Aba!!!
I find it insulting for people who have relatives na may TUNAY NA HANDICAP. May physically limp pang nalalaman…

if i werehim I would apologize sincerely and say that no amount of reason could be enough to excuse such rude behavior, but if at all, I would say that my client was under a lot of stress that contributed to a lapse of judgment and an outburst that my client totally regrets and hoped had not taken place. He got carried away by the heat of the moment.

that was also a great answer. Alam mo ba, that was what saved Bill Clinton when he was being impeached. Nung una, he tried to defend kesyo, “I did not have any sexual relationship chorva ever with Monica.” you know what happened, nag-plummet ang ratings nang first love ko dahil indi naman mga engot ang mga kano ano?
and that was similar to this case. you’re right. he should have just apologized immediately at dapat yong engot na spokesman should have not done the stupid creative outburst alibi dahil se-semplang yun.

If i were the spokesperson, i would have asked boyet fajardo to humble himself and personally go to the people he verbally abused. there is nothing better than doing it personally.
he has a lot of money so he can make up by giving something to appease these people. it is not bribery, it is a peace offering.
what he may spend is lesser than the revenues he lost by the boycott.
By now, he knows that the people are not buying his clothes because of his name.The name does not ring a bell to those who read and heard about the incident. Not even his billboard at EDSA was effective enough to make his creation a by-word in a fashion world.
It was the price which was meant for those who can not afford haute couture or off-the-rack- one- of- a -kind- clothing made by famous`couturiers.

Boyet Fajardo should have done some due diligence on his part and should have made a smart decision in getting the right spokesman for him.
Spokeman are like professional people in their career – PR person and obviously, the spokesman have no clue what he was talking about and have no experience whatsoever in delicate situations like this.
And you’re right – the best move should have been that. Advice Fajardo to humble himself, else use money to buy the silence, because his bottom line is at stake.
Unfortunately, both of them were lacking in logic. And it appeared to me that the real negative personality of the spokesman came out of the incident – instead of the professinality as what the spokesman calls for – thus, mas lalong nasadlak sa kalechehan ang Fajardo.
Which bring me to this: Don’t you think dapat MAG-APOLOGIZE ang Ricky Rivera na yan ki Boyet Fajardo kahit na engot ang Fajardo? hahaha

I’m beginning to ask if this certain ricky rivera is the same ricky rivera doing PR for Questionable personalities such as JOey DV, BB Gandanghari and now Boyet Fajardo? Isn’t it conflicting that you blog about Philippine Revolution yet you are totally surrounded by people who pays you to blog them?
Yet he lambasts bloggers who are doing Pay Per Post for a decent extra income. I would believe that if GMA gives him the right price, he would definitely shift gears. These kind of people have no credibility and have no sense of PATRIOTISM at all. They just sugarcoat themselves with pseudo patriotism but in fact they are just after the money.
This is the exact reason why only fools would have the sanity to believe everything that this guy is writing about.
