What’s the buzz?
That Bryanboy was Chikatime.
Bryanboy
I love Bryanboy. There was a time when I would spend many wee-wee hours in the dark of the night, laughing alone, loving and adoring all what he wrote in his blog. The wit, the humor and plain faggotry if you call it. I loved his entries. The guy was good, at least, as far as I was concerned.
But that was years ago.
Growing pains?
Now? I don’t know who blogs in his blog, but I know that the Bryanboy I know who writes hilarious entries is gone. Gone were the hilarious comments also that would rack up to hundreds. I don’t see those no more. I don’t read them no more. What happened? With his popularity and success, his blog seemed to have evolved into something which is no longer him! I want the old him back!
Like Southwest Airlines
I remember back during my business school years. We must have dissected every star company on Wall Street. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Dell Computer and Southwest Airlines. The last being a favorite MBA topic. Why? Because they were so radical in changing the airline industry with their excellent business model that they would be on the top of their trade for years. Low cost, low fare, excellent customer service, funny flight attendants, on time and much more. They were different from the pack. These propelled them to number one, coupled with a stock price that was consistently going up. They would become one of the best employers in America.
Now? It’s a different story.
It’s like law of diminishing returns. Or it’s something like, what goes up, must come down. Or, being on top, swallowed by the very establishment they were trying to disassociate by being unique, and now they’re just one of them. Even worst in some instances. Like delayed flights? I remember, I was even stucked for hours at Chicago’s Midway Airport in one of my Chicago job interview that I missed the 1st Obama Presidential debate.
But I’m not suggesting that Bryanboy is coming down. This guy is smart and you better believe me when I say that. No Filipino blogger has ever come close to what he had accomplished so far.
Anonymous bloggers and commenters
I have had my own share of controversies. I’ve been called so many names, plastered so many labels that I can’t follow them no more. These anonymous commenters would even have the nerve to come to my blog and chastise me. Yet, they prefer to be anonymous. I despise them. They would wage battle but they refuse to fight fair and square. I agree with what’s written on Brian Gorrell’s and Victorina’s blogs.
If you have the courage and the gut to write it, then you should have the courage to own it. Otherwise, you are as pathetic as the very people you are writing about.
But, wait!
Aside from such a fiery gossip blog that caters to Pinoys insatiable appetite for gossip, wasn’t Chikatime an expose of some of the notorious members of our society who ought to be investigated for using and dealing with illegal drugs? (Then again, with the Alabang Boys bribery to the justices, who cares really? Basta, kunyari lang that we’re a straight, decent and civilized society!) And if you expose yourself as the writer behind it, is similar to saying to these druggies to go on, snort yourself with all liberty, freedom and ding-a-ling because I ain’t sayin’ nuttin’! Therefore, being anonymous was justified. Or, was he? If in fact that was him?

hi renz, i really enjoyed reading chikatime but not so much bryanboy’s blog, sobrang napakataas ng lipad, hindi ko na abot
there were instances too that chikatime was really below the belt, i remember that ateneo freshman who made some comments about the school, she was really lambasted, it was unfair because that was the same thing that chikatime was doing, airing their “exposes” about a group of people, so unfair din na they criticized that student.

renz, the point is, if chikatime can dish out criticism, it should not begrudge others the right to do the same, kasi whether it’s true or not that “chikatime” is BB, dapat he should have been easy on that ateneo freshman

Regular reader rin ako ni Bryanboy a few years ago…at some point parang medyo dubious ako kasi according to some comments at Doña Victorina’s blog, si Brian Gorell (spelling tama ba?) daw ang nagsulat nung entry na yun out of his spite kay BB. Kesyo bitter daw si Gorrell kasi kinabog siya ni BB.
Ganyan siguro talaga, you can’t please everyone. Especially on the interwebs.
