Job creation is hard, family separations are harder
More family separations. That’s what I see from the current headlines. True, job creation is one truly difficult task, especially when the problem is confidence and trust. You need venture capitalists. You need entrepreneurs. You need liquidity. You need fresh loans pumped into the economy. You need hard cash to get into the local entrepreneurs to invest in employment-generating businesses. Ethics, transparent lending, regulations and all. Oh! before I forget, you need good tax collection and… ehem.. ahh… proper disbursement and budgetary allocations? Pretty much, forming part of the basics of job creation.
Implementation typically runs into tons of abnormalities
Easy at it may seem, but it gets ridiculously and complicatedly mind-boggling when put into action. I don’t have any explanation for you. Ok fine, Maybe, I do. I just don’t want to blurt it out, because all of you already know! Or, maybe we can look at what BSP found out when they audited the Legacy banks, when they were forced into receivership perhaps? Or the usual corruption? Oh, I don’t know. Tons of abnormal reasons.
Good infrastructure for commerce to flow
Infrastructure is sure one big help. You need commerce to flow freely. When commerce is free, obstacles and barriers gone, money flows freely to Pinoy masses who are mostly needy. Economic activity flourishes. Again, you can’t get any more basic than that.
How the rising unemployment is being addressed
Yet, who am I to propose some economic policies for the country? I am just one very, very curious onlooker to what’s going on in my country. How are they addressing the situation where jobs losses are piling almost by the hour? I say, interesting.
According to this article:
“The national government will be implementing this year a P1.4 trillion 2009 budget addressed not at the slowing down of the economy that we are feeling now but on various concerns that arose from the twin oil and food crisis that we faced in the first half of last year when the national budget was still being prepared.”
Now, that’s bad. That sounds more like misplaced and misdirected treatment to me. The way I read it is that, they should have changed their strategies immediately to adapt and/or address the new challenges we are facing now. One must truly be honest and tell the people the true picture so that we are better able to face the future.
And according to to this article? RP eyes Obama as savior of OFWs. Go ahead, knock on Obama’s foot. His hands are full you know. Still, OWWA chief hopes US favors Pinoys. And where else?
Aside from the United States, the OWWA is exploring the Canadian and Australian labor markets as possible destinations of Filipino workers, according to Dimzon.
The Philippines is also considering lifting the ban on sending Filipino workers to Iraq. Vice President Noli de Castro said Sunday that the lifting of the ban would come as soon as the safety of workers in Iraq was guaranteed.
Forget about the fact that recession is everywhere. Now my reaction? Mixed. Mixed laughter! Hahaha!
Better than nothing
But in fairness, it is commendable that OWWA and the Vice-President, for what’s it worth, are doing – trying as hard as they can, to find other places where they would accept Filipino workers. Think about it, even in war-ravaged Iraq. Now, doesn’t that sound desperate to you? Well, to me it is. But you have to give credits where credits is due and OWWA and the Vice President deserves that, no matter how much hatred OWWA gets from a number of OFWs. That’s all that they can do.
Why would America favor the Philippines?
But you see, my problem here is that these are temporary fixes and given the spread of recession, I’m not sure if this would work either. I don’t question the US medical employment needs. But why would America favor the Philippines at this point over other countries plus the fact that you have a really bad US domestic unemployment landscape? Obama’s hands are full and I’m sure, the Philippine unemployment problem is the least of his worry.
No place at home
It seemed to me that this an easy way out from what I perceived as the blame-game looming from a distance. Then again, blaming the world economy is the easiest way. Yet to me, it’s an acceptance that the suddenly unemployed OFW’s have no place in the job market in the Philippines because there is none. The IT field current requirements, while there could be positions available, is not enough to cushion the really bad unemployment impact. Where would you place the unemployed domestic helpers? I wish they could be trained overnight to be an IT programmer. Some could probably work in Call Centers. But that too is not very encouraging.
Saving face?
The national government’s strategy of spending is still far from happening, even though that was meant to fix another crisis. It’s a scramble in job placement. It’s an expected move or a saving face. Let’s get back to basics. Let’s all plant camote. Now, that’s real production to increase GDP.
Not me
Ok, wait. Not me. I’m not saying I’m lazy. The sight of kalabaws truly sends trauma to my eyes. So, you plant it. Besides, Reyna ako, ayokong maputikan. Ano ka?! Hello!

The problem with brilliant college students facing in our country when they graduated there were no jobs. It took connections even to get work at McDonald’s. So they went back to their parents home again and get married stay with Mom and Pop until they’re force to seek employment in other counteries scrubbing the floor, babysitting naugthy children, prepare dinner and clean the toilet of the “manyakis” master.

It’s a sorry state. But i realize, di lang pala kami. Not that I am getting comfort from that.

Kala nila nasa US lang kami.
One time tinanong ako “Where are you located?”. Eh hayblad ako: “The Philippines, would you like me to transfer you to an American agent?!?”, and sagot ndi na daw, mas mabait at patient daw kausap mga Pinoy. LOL.

I could tell na Pilipino ang other end of the line, merong certain accent na alam ko.
But I’d say, marami pa ring Pinoy na kelangang ayusin nila ang English nila. Pramis.

COMPLETE BULLSH*T.
Question: Should we need to bail-out companies from the private sector? I dont think so. The pre-need companies should be responsible for the sh*t they are on today. The bailout should be used in providing welfare programs for the poor and assistance to workers who have been laid off.
Hindi nga makapag-provide ng books, classrooms and pasweldo for the teachers. Tapos mag-babail out ng mga pre-need companies? Arroyo government is giving me a headache!
Ok, that’s it. Im moving away from the Philippines. Gonna go to Siberia to chill my head out. Har!
