Nightmare on FV street
I am bloody serious with my entry today. I know, I’ve been making you all laugh, but this is no laughing matter. This is about my one nightmarish experience I have with the so-called elitist and homophobic blogger at Filipino Voices.
Humor blog
Reyna Elena is a humor blog. Or at least, a trying hard one. A powerpoint presentation is not needed for intelligent people who can instantly discern what a blog is. UP or Ateneo diploma not needed. I try to make people laugh. Such is my offline personality as well. It’s also a personal blog. In here, are some of life’s dysfunctionalities and more. Mine and someone else’s. Just like what I am blogging now.
So, you’re from the best school in Manila. Now, what?
Such is how the language of a blog evolves. My online Reyna Elena personality is completely different from my professional personality. Elitist bloggers have always this tendency to flaunt their UP, Ateneo or whatever so-called top schools in Manila attached to their resume. Never mind if they graduated or not. Quite frankly, even those who have already pre-judged me cannot even measure up with my achievements in the United States, both professionally and academically.
Proud Barrio Siete Guy
I’m not jealous with any grad from UP or Ateneo or any top-notch school. We sent our nephews and nieces there. Yes, even a laude graduate from the UP College of Law. I’m a US graduate and I am comfortably secured with my own. I’m your typical Barrio Siete guy. Proud of it. My undergrad is provincial and my post-grad studies are with the George Washington University and Temple University plus another two years with Alliance Francaise. There are six letters after my real name. That’s one educational achievement that I use to support my credibility. Gained through my hard work despite being a financially challenged Barrio Siete guy. Yes, when I say hard work, I worked my damn ass to pay for it, all on my own. Not daddy.
Self-proclaimed credibilities
Such is the problem of elitist bloggers in Manila. Why do they seem to have such a big problem with a Barrio Siete guy like me? As if I don’t have the right to exist in Philippine society, let alone the Philippine Blogging Community? Why do they have this innate problem discerning the online personality of a blogger or a blog? Why do they immediately pre-judge a blogger and a blog and summarily execute them online as irrelevant topped with childish “inggit lang yan” irreverent remarks? Condescendingly strikes out a personal blogger as if all political bloggers were the chosen kind of god? Yet, if you look into their writings, they are as much challenged themselves? As is plastering the letters UP or Ateneo solidifies their self-proclaimed credibility?
How did this all started?
Recall this entry: How to clean up Pinoy Blogosphere. Started by Pat Mangubat in an attempt to clean the Philippine blogosphere. In it was an expose of “The List“. What happened to the list? Don’t ask me.
If I support the Filipino Voices, it is because I like a handful of bloggers there and I follow what they write. I am not friends with them, but that’s not saying they’re my enemies. I have never social climbed with them either. Obviously, I’d rather not name these people. So, when Nick posted my contribution to Filipino Voices, I ran across this entry. Searching for Our Voice in 2010. He wrote:
And I tell you–and this is my personal take–Mar Roxas got my vote. Surviving a DJB attack to my mind, is admirable. Parrying those blows from other bloggers, including those coming from Jester, Ding and myself is rather commendable. Is he fit to be president? To my mind, he is. I’ve talked with others, like Noli Kabayan de Castro, Manny Villar, Cheez Escudero and Loren Legarda and really, I found those conversations a waste of my time. No one came close to Mar Roxas, no one, in terms of honesty, integrity of answers and knowledge on the subject matter. No one.
One passionate blogger to clean up Pinoy Blogosphere
Ok. In my mind, what happened?! After some passionate calling of cleaning Pinoy Blogosphere, to the point of invoking the names of some other demi-gods in Pinoy blogging, I was expecting this blogger to take a neutral stance. After all, election has not even started yet. Well, he now even proclaimed the politician as THE candidate. Apologies people, but am I the only one who is sensing a train of hypocrisy unlimited here? Help my opinion! Is this credibility or cleaning up the blogosphere? Which is which or none of which?

And what about invoking my parents? What’s my parents got to do with any of these? If this blogger would care, my parents taught me how to live independently and how to fly. Now, that’s a figurative speech to you. They brought me up to be one valedictorian, national college scholar, cum laude graduate and an MBA in the United States. I’m sure my haters would have a field day that I flaunted this. That’s how my parents brought me up. Can we now exchange stories with how your parents brought you up?
He drowned me with trash. If you think that’s not enough, what about a threat?
And more threats.
You think that was enough? What about gay bashing? Bigotry? Sexism? Homophobia? What’s my sexuality got to do with this? That gays don’t think like straight people? That gay intellect are of the lower kind? What gives?
Being married and having kids does not necessarily follow that one is straight. Spare me from some insinuated sexual fantasies but I don’t get an erection for every male name I see online or offline.
And more faggotry.
You think that was it? Nope. What about an entry in his blog?
Does Pat understands all the thrashy comments he wrote?
Quite ridiculously, Pat Mangubat has been asking me to stop the ad-hominem attacks. I wonder if this writer have the appropriate mental capacity to read what he just wrote in his comments above? Now, let’s dissect his blog entry here. Shall we?
- Worst writer
- Prostitute of the English language and of the most brutal kind.
- She cusses. She curses.
- And she even sells her mother online.
- She speaks like a jolog, yet pretends to be a member of the elite.
- And, as I look at her face, her face is as crispy as lechon.
What’s interesting is that, my worst writing continues to draw readership and loyal readers and followers. Some are now pushing me to write a book. Now, what about his entry? Two (2) comments? I would think that “best” writing would generate a lot of interested, regular and loyal readers. How come his blog is empty?
Grammar and English language nazis, beware. I don’t use any speller. What I write is direct from my ass. But I might have to consult my nephew and nieces to tell me what statutes I have violated with my blogging style. I write in prostituted Filipino, English, French, Spanish, Bisaya, Bicol, swardspeak in my own twisted language dictionary. Oh! And Swahili too! I can write any language. I’m sure you can too. You see, it takes a certain level of “intelligence” to understand my “own” language style. Too bad. Have me arrested.
Let me bring back what I wrote on top. “Reyna Elena is a humor blog. I don’t have to tell this to intelligent people who have the capacity to instantly discern what a blog is. Makes you wonder kung sino tong kausap ko. Singko anyos?!
What’s with the “elite” thing? And who are these “elites”. This blogger insinuates that he is “elite”? “Elite” what? Filipino Voices writers are “elites”? Because he is UP, Ateno and San Beda? What gives? So? Those are airs of eliteness? Drop names and school names to justify self-imposed grandeur?
I’m Barrio Siete. Proud of it. Splashed all over my blog. If I’m pang-masa, because I’m pang-masa. Low class? I’m not from UP, Ateneo or La Salle. But this Barrio Siete went to George Washington University and Temple University. I graduated. Did he? I don’t know and I don’t care. All I know is that, there are six letters after my name. Do I need them to proclaim my credibility? You bet I do! Those are my educational achievements. To prove that I’m worth the word I am typing and my diplomas were not manufactured in Recto.

I don’t know how to respond to this one. I assume, Pat Mangubat is claiming to be one extremely good-looking guy. Spare me from his picture and his persona. I don’t see class in thrash.
The Great Philippine Blog Divide: Elitists vs. Jologs
Such is the great, big and wide Philippine blog divide, between these self-proclaimed elitist bloggers and jologs. Between graduates of best schools and Barrio Siete. Between self-proclaimed intellectual political bloggers and “other” bloggers.
How to gain credibility in the Pinoy Blogging Community
Yet, at the end of the day, of each blog entry, it’s how you stand up to what you wrote. If you can’t respond intelligently to an issue posed, resort to personal attacks? If personal attacks we’re not powerful enough, resort to threats? Or even run back to the dark corners of Twitters and Plurk perhaps? Much has been written on gaining credibility in blogging. You’ll find a worthy reading material here, here and here. What’s the next step to gain credibility in Pinoy Blogging? Anger Management perhaps?

This guy is sitll the clueless guy in blogging. Imagine, accusing me of attending bloogers media events. Ano siya nababaliw. Lilipad ba ako from Washington DC para lang makalibre ng pagkain na puwede ko namang araw araw bilhin.
When he condemned all bloggers who are monetizing their blogs and accused them of selling their souls (he already sanitized his blog) after he was reprimanded even by those people close to him who are worse than those displaying their ads in their blogs because they use the blogroll to impress that they have lots of fans and followers, I already got the hint that this is one guy who writes without investigating people he encountered in the blogosphere.

The only blogging event I attended officially is Janet Toral, accidentally invited lang ako dun sa Nuffnang and even if you count it, that’s pretty much it. Hahaha! The rest? Social climbing parties by Reyna. Hahaha

Is he suffering from paranoia? There was no accusation that he was a paid hack. He was the one who accused me of being a paid hack of Malacanan?

Tama ka Reyns, some people are suffering from low self-esteem, they need to namedrop, they need to inform the public that they are from UP. What for? I was finishing my Doctorate in Public Administation at UP when I left the Philippines but never did I look down on other students from other universities. My self-confidence does not emanate from the schools where I came from, it is my pride to have finished obstacles. That’s the reason why I admired you, YOu are also one achiever, and these underachiever/bloggers’ credentials were only the school where they came from.
I used to criticize people who blurted out expletives in their blogs but your cusses are not the same as theirs because they are serious bloggers and yours is a humor blog.
Akala ng mga ito pagnagsulat ka sa Tagalog mababa na ang IQ mo, eh sila rin naman pag tiningnan mo ang kanilang mga sinulat ang daming maling grammar.
Did I wrote ….sabi niya. Di ba dapat, did I write.
Kung magtuturo sila ng dumi sa mukha dapat yong dumi muna sa mukha ang kanilang pahiran.

Akala ng mga ito pagnagsulat ka sa Tagalog mababa na ang IQ mo, eh sila rin naman pag tiningnan mo ang kanilang mga sinulat ang daming maling grammar.
That’s right. I have been pre-judger by a good number of these bloggers even during “that” time, if you know what I mean. Like kahindik hindik ang mga blogistang nagsusulat in anything other than English.

matagal akong nawala ang dami nang nangyari. bakit ba kasi ang pinoy mahilig sa grupo grupo…kahit sa blogosphere? anu ba yan! pakitaan na pala ng resume at diploma ang drama nila ngayon. eh di ba dapat, kanya kanyang drama ng online personalities lang. ahhh…basta ako blogging for a living. eh ano kung hindi sikat at kasali sa kung ano anong LIST dyan. he he he.
ay ambot manay. kahit naman humor blog meron pa rin namang karapatan mag blog about any topic, including politics. besides this is your personal blog and you can say just about anything.

Exactly Glo. “This is my blog” kiver nya. And I can waddle any topics I wanted to waddle into, politics o kahit na science pa sa Jupiter. I may not be good at it, but kaya ko. Haha.
Yes, it’s been like that. It’s always – we are this – and jologs ka hahaha! There is always the demarcation line of the self-proclaimed “we have intelligence” pero pag binasa mo mga blog entries nila, baka isulat na lang yan nang isang high school sa barrio siete.
To me, that’s low self-esteem, no confidence and all that and to counter? Drop names and tell people you’re not this beacase your barrio or jologs which if you look at it really, looks to me that jologs have the numbers and not the self-proclaimed elitista and so if you could come across with the jologs – wagi. Right? Now, how could these elista have their messages come across a jologs na kung sila sila di nila maintindihan ang mga sarili nila? Hahaha

That’s really how I look at it. Kaya ko namang mag-blog nang English, full blown. But what good would it do kung di maintindihan? Exactly what I did with the subprime and most of the economy articles ko, kahit english, simpli indi yong kelangan high flying intellectual sounding journal para maganda. WHo does that? Eh mga PhD lang ang gumagawa nun and no one reads those other than kapwa researchers.
If you disect the entries of this guy, kahit na yong very very first entry on cleaning the blogosphere – that was very very badly written for a UP Ateneo San Beda combined.

Reynz, Ca t, ako nga e nagtatanong nang maayos. Hindi ako sinagot dahil I’m not even capable of making a conversation being an inanimate object in the first place. Hahaha! Too bad he don’t know who I am.
But then again, thanks to thehighpriestofsmokes, I finally understood what kind of person that one hiding the pseudonym Patricio Mangubat is. He’s the type of person who will defend say anything – be it bad, good or intelligently correct – just as long as he can counter-attack. Kailangan nya ipanalo ang punto nya in any way and if he feels he can’t , he’ll retort to personal attacks.
Nakakatawa lang dahil he kept counter-attacking even his own words. Hahaha. Or should I say that there are so many commenters in that post using the same Patricio Mangubat handler.

Talagang di nawawala sa mundo mga tao who promote themselves as the best there is. Yan ang problema sa pakikibaka. Nahahaluan palagi ng mga taong pretending to be maka-masa. Elitista rin naman pala.
Makakapagsalita lang ng anti-gloria, feeling aktibista na. At yung mga taong di kampi nila, maka gloria.

Ay I agree ako sayo dyan Madame Ca T. Ako when I write a political satire, I don’t affiliate myself with any politicians. or worse blog about them. Tama na yung blinoblog na lang sila nung binayaran nila LOL.
I maybe a nobody but I don’t praise or defend politicians.
When you blog about patriotism and then you are connected with a politician, immediately, there is this thinking na may vested interest, kahit wala. Pano, 99% kasi ng politicians ay users. there is a remaining 1% who are decent and clean, and even those I wont blog about. Kahit nga si among ed na dating pari di ko blinoblog eh kahit pa he is doing great in his advocacy as a governor, its because he is already a politician.

Before anything, here’s a very good write up of what really transpired and how it all started.
First:
Reyna Elena, in his agreement to the first commenter, told that we should “wait till the dust and fog clears up” so we could see whether this “breaking news” from Patricio Mangubat is just another case of link baiting.
The Ca t, in her agreement (or dis-agreement) to Up n grad, called it utmost hypocrisy having came from someone who “condemning people who furnished the list of bloggers to politicians and then he becomes the first to endorse a presidential candidate who has not even declared officially his candidacy just because he was among those who were invited,” to which Reyna Elena added by recalling an entry where the same Patricio Mangubat hailed two “blogging idols,” an act which is supposed to imply his being neutral only to look ironic in the end when he himself started biting some old PRs’ tricks.

In fairness, for me, me ilan lang akong sinusundan at binabasa and they write for FV kaya nga I am supporting FV. Unfortunately, nagmistulang forum lang nila ang FV and it seemed na yung iba dun eh pataasan lang naman nang ihi. I wish FV success, but they’re the ones who will define the success of FV. Right now, FV is just on an unknown waters. Yung ibang writer err blogger dun like him are just nothing but pretentious na wala namang credentials and credibility.

Why? I went to FV to read it myself.. I find the comments that Pat wrote were really low. He’s condemning people who does not share the same ideas nor principles like him.
If he does state that he is educated and such why does he need to attack You, Cat, Kotseng Kuba and the others personally? I think this act is childish.

My undergrad is provincial and my post-grad studies are with the George Washington University and Temple University plus another two years with Alliance Francaise. There are six letters after my real name. That’s one educational achievement that I use to support my credibility. Gained through my hard work despite being a financially challenged Barrio Siete guy. Yes, when I say hard work, I worked my damn ass to pay for it, all on my own. Not daddy.”
That is admirable. But why even lash back against other proud bloggers by naming your own achievements, when that’s exactly the mentality you claim to be against?
Regardless of what university the rest of us graduated from, many of us have also worked our asses off just to get through college, and some of us even through high school. Many of us are slaving away by ourselves to attain our goals, but some of the most esteemed and accomplished people I’ve encountered have been all over the world and they don’t even try to compete with their peers at all. They just simply go about their tasks and let the haters say what they want. In the end, these unassuming and humble guys are still the center of their haters’ universe.
It’s annoying how many bloggers, Filipino and otherwise, tend to drop names and cite their achievements just to add clout to their content so it doesn’t make sense to join the bandwagon just to prove a point.

I doubt if you read the full entry, including the captures of what Pat Mangubat has spewed against me. In essence, he was challenging my credentials and more, invoking how I was reared by my parents, how low-class I am, the faggotry and some more blatant out of this world accusations. Now, what about threats?
In a situation where one is challenging my credentials, especially now that I have information about Pat Mangubat sent to me by my readers, it’s my right to prove my credentials. You have to read the context of what I wrote to understand why I have to tell readers in my blog entry about the fact that I am a US graduate. Now, I did not write that simply to brag to the world that I am. The blog entry about the below the belt fire spewed by Mangubat justifies me to do just what I did.
Like what you said that:
– I am not that and you are mistaken. Next time, you need to understand the blog entry and not browse and attack. And if another situation occurs where my credentials be put into question? You better believe me that it will fly once more. I earned it the hard way and there is no reason for me not to be proud of it. Interestingly, these schools that these elite people are bragging are no match to the school where I went to. I know that statement will anger you.

The context why reynz wrote that is just to prove them that achivements doesnt matter. You are definitely barking on the wrong tree. What I always notice is that bloggers always focus on the literal sense of the comments and not the true context.
Alam mo sa pinangalingan ko, okay lang na di ka magaling mag english o kaya bobo ka sa latin, pero pag bobo ka at off tangent ka sa context. that’s unforgivable LOL You will be the laughing stock of the whole community of brothers because context is always equals to common sense.

Binabalak ko ngang bumalik just so na me nakakausap ako. Sayang eh. 2 years pa mandin ako dun. Parang bisaya. di na ako makapagsalita nang todo. Am glad me blogging. at nakakapanagalog ako.
