The Alabang Boys: Oh, to be rich!

by reynz on January 7, 2009

Oh, to be rich!

PDEA spokesperson Derrick Carreon told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the agency had received information that P50-M drug bribe bared or that “P50 million changed hands” for the release of Richard Santos Brodett, Jorge Jordana Joseph and Joseph Ramirez Tecson, or the so-called “Alabang Boys” still being held at the agency’s detention center in Quezon City. Now, this was last December 2008.

Now, if you followed this news, the case was dismissed on “technicality”.

Kung purita ka jazz like me rich ka just like me (just following positive thinking Tulfo! hahaha), nakakaloka ang news na to. Eto, basahin nyo lang:

Influential people

Several influential persons tried to intervene on behalf of the families of the “Alabang Boys,” Director General Dionisio Santiago of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) told reporters shortly before he faced a probe of the case in the House of Representatives. Read it here.

DOJ did not draft the release! It’s the lawyers!

In fact, even the boy’s lawyer drafted the release themselves using the DOJ letterhead! Take nyo yon?! “The lawyer for the so-called “Alabang Boys” Tuesday admitted preparing the order for the release of the drug suspects for the signature of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez two days before Christmas.” Read it here.

Bribe confirmed by a PDEA Agent

A PDEA Agent now confirms the offer. Facing the inquiry by the House of Representatives on the controversial drug case involving three suspects from prominent families, an anti-narcotics agent confirmed that he was offered P3 million by a former classmate at the Philippine Military Academy in exchange for not filing a case against them. Read it here.

Will there be justice, Ka Tulfo?

Update: Before joining the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Maj. Ferdinand Marcelino saw action in strife-torn areas in Muslim Mindanao as a Marine officer.

Marcelino is the PDEA officer who spoke of three alleged attempts to bribe him and his men in exchange for the release of the so-called “Alabang Boys.” Marcelino said he said no and stood his ground.

Mindanao was one posting Marcelino would never forget, citing his work on intelligence during the Dos Palmas kidnapping saga in 2001 as his most difficult assignment, one that kept him away from his family for a long time.

Update: Alabang Boys supplies Embassy Bar
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view/20090107-181862/Alabang-Boys-supplied-Embassy-club

A watering hole of the rich and famous, where highly publicized brawls have occurred, has received another blow to its glitzy image.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Dionisio Santiago told lawmakers Tuesday that the Embassy Super Club at The Fort in Taguig City was among the places where the so-called “Alabang Boys” supposedly peddled illegal drugs.

“I’m sorry I have to mention Embassy. They are the suppliers of Embassy,” Santiago told a hearing of the House committee on dangerous drugs.

Unfortunately, gurl, you can get off on a technicality, at least in the US or with bribery in the Philippines (hello, corruption central). Hindi ka ba nanonood ng Law and Order or even CSI? If the cops didn’t have the right warrant or their evidence got tampered/tainted during collection, they can be thrown out by the judge.

I’m not siding with the accused. I’m just saying that the justice system has its own quirks that the right verdict may not be the actual outcome due to technicalities. That’s why even here, criminals can be set free even if they shouldn’t be. Of course, I should not compare the Philippine justice system with that of US.

here’s what I can say about Dir. Santiago for PDEA. He is a respectable man, that I can assure you.

Thank goodness that the bribes did not sway him..

Kasalanan na ng Rich kids yung pagkahuli sa kanila ng PDEA. They are already living a life that most Filipinos strive for. Instead of showing a good public image, they just destroyed it and humiliated the name of their family.

There is nothing new with regards to rich kids buying, using and selling drugs.. I’ve seen very much of them (from respectable schools) parking somewhere dim, smoking pot. When going out, popping some E’s. And also with bribery, it is so common that all the sectors are conceited gits.

If the country turns into a communist government… A lot of Human Rights would be crossed over. So what’s the use of the article 3 and UN’s declaration of HUMAN RIGHTS if the government or country becomes a communist? I believe that the officials would be more corrupt than ever.

A few days ago, security inside Ayala Alabang Village got a little tighter…..there are more motorized security guards strategically posted along sidestreets near the Brodett residence……my source, a resident of the village said that he asked a guard what that was all about, thinking that it was for one of those usual religious ek ek activities organized inside the village, but was told that the additional detail was requested by the Brodett family.

Assuming that this was true, could it be that:

1) they must be so influential with the powers that be inside that sheltered community.
2) they really must need protection! from what or whom, i can only guess….drug syndicate perhaps warning them na hwag bumaliktad? angry parents? angry residents?

We live in exciting times huh? We have Joc Joc, the fighting Pangandamans, and the Alabang Boys….Wow!

hi chuck,

i saw the hearing on TV last night and I was astonished with the questiong by justice sec raul gonzales to marcelino! what was that you know? and then he did not even balked at those lawyers na napaka unethical! seems to me na baka tatamaan si gonzales sa expose ni marcelino.

the brodetts are another case, family feud na yan about pera. i mean, oo they were trying to clear their name, pero bat ngayon lang? bat di nila sinumbong noon pa? dahil nagkahulihan? di ba selfishness yon?

Hi Reynz,

I really think we should go all the way in this case, masagasaan man kung sino……

I dont think its gonna be pleasant, names will be mentioned, careers/reputations destroyed. if its true that they have been supplying places like Embassy, you can imagine the magnitude of names that could be mentioned (kung meron kang alam, share mo naman)…….showbiz, politicos, athletes, people in business, damay lahat iyan….but then, i guess its all for the best that it all comes out….ika nga, uminom ka ng gamot pampurga para mawala lahat ng dumi….I hope that for once, we have the balls to do it.

Oo nga pala, am enjoying this blog kasi di ka pa pinasok ng mga bayaran na pr spin doctors, so its all very entertaining…..am an advertising / pr / media guy myself, so i know whats spin and what isnt….maganda ang free wheeling discussion na walang paid agenda di ba? I read the Bambee de la Paz blog and while it started out well, and maraming magaling mag-share ng opinion, napasukan na rin ng threads na really are just crap. Hope you can keep the discussion entertaining and informative.

Cheers!

Hehehe correct about that..

Dati na kasi yung mga drugs na yan eh. When the one who is hit, rich and powerful, what the family does is pay a huge lump of money to the reporters or networks, broadsheets etc. so that the issue would not been blown out.

Malapit na kasi elections sa ating third world contry kaya they are making a scene..

hey may anthrax scar sa pinas manay! It was supposed to be mailed to the US EMBASSY…

wawa naman yung carturero (mailman)

@ chuck
OMG, lahat ng mga famous clubs in Pinas puro drugs yan. Whenever there is a concert like per say techno or trance or whatever. Yung mga junakis ng mga well known politikos, magnates etc, go out na and buy na ng drugs to party..

Although if names would be posted super laking issue niyan.. baka ma libel pa.. lol

i think they should let the other Brodett Family to continue to talk and meanwhile, tama yong balitang nabasa ko na yong buong DOJ should do a mass resignation! kakahiya talaga ang ginawa nila, nanghina ang tuhod ko!
