Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., the son of DAR Chief, Cabinet Secretary appointed by Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to sit on the peace panel of all places, Nasser Pangandaman, Sr. have no semblance of moral ethics and good public governance. A family of warlords and thugs. Majority of the politicians in the Philippines, like 99.999999999% have no clue that their employers are the people who pays taxes, like this Mayor of Masiu City. The son of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman, Nasser Pangandaman Jr.,Mayor of Masiu, Lanao Del Sur believed that just because he’s a mayor, he is now the lord and so therefore, anyone in his path must lick his ass, disappear and that he shall not practice Social Climbing for he is DA mayor and he is DA son of the Agrarian Reform Secretary.

The Incident

The son of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman and several persons beat up a 14-year-old boy and his father at a golf course in Antipolo on Friday. The alleged attackers were identified as Nasser Pangandaman Jr., mayor of Masiu, Lanao Del Sur, and his armed bodyguards. The victims, Delfin De La Paz and his family, said the Cabinet member witnessed the incident at the Valley Golf Club but did not stop his son and their bodyguards from attacking the victims.

Altercation on Golf Etiquette

De La Paz said the incident started with an altercation after the Pangandamans allegedly broke golf etiquette by playing out of turn and overtaking the De La Paz family at the South Course of the Valley Golf and Country Club.

In an interview, De La Paz, 56, said he and his two children — daughter Bambee, 18, and son Bino, 14 -– were playing golf and were on Hole No. 3 when two golf carts bearing the Pangandamans and their friends overtook them.

Aside from the Pangandamans, the flight also included Paysal Abdulaa, Mohammed Hussein, Abdan Pacasuna, Rene Maglaque, and Arnel Astacio.

Hole No. 5

De La Paz said he complained to the marshal and an altercation ensued when the two groups caught up with each other at the tee house on Hole No. 5.

“Don’t you know me?!”

De La Paz said that at the height of the altercation, Nasser Jr. suddenly attacked him and his son, punching and kicking them and shouting: “Hindi mo ba ako nakikilala? (Don’t you know me?)”

Bambee, blogger, witness

Bambee De La Paz, who witnessed everything, said the younger Pangandaman continued to attack even when his brother was already on his knees pleading for him to stop.

Guns and goons?

Bambee, in an e-mail to friends, said they decided to stop playing and retreated to the clubhouse to seek medical attention, but their attackers followed them to the clubhouse. This time joined by their bodyguards, the Pangandaman group again attacked father and son. Bambee said two of the mayor’s bodyguards pulled out their guns.

Satisfied spectator?

She said that while Secretary Pangandaman did not participate in the attacks, he did not lift a finger to stop his son and his companions from beating the victims.

Enemy no. 1 = 14 year old

De La Paz’s 14 year-old boy suffered various facial, head, and back injuries due to the blows he received. The family plans to file charges of child abuse, among other cases, against the assailants.

Politicians could be worst animals

‘‘This is a golf course. I have been a golfer all my life and I have never seen anything like this,’’ Bambee said. ‘‘And I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people.’’

Low bat

Efforts to reach Secretary Pangandaman for comment on Saturday proved fruitless. His cell phone was off. The public information officer of the Department of Agrarian Reform promised to call the INQUIRER as soon as he got in touch with the secretary but he had not done so as of posting time Saturday.

Nag-mura ka na ba sa buhay mo?

But then again, putang ina is the wrong word for this Mayor and his bodyguards. In the United States, this equals resignation. In Japan and Korea, this equals suicide. What will they do to this mayor and his bodyguards in the Philippines? I bet you, they’ll give him a gold medal of valor of total attitude squalor.

    I think it is a shame when people flaunt their social stature when not needed.

    There was an incidence that happened to my brother when a stupid rich girl, bumped the car. My brother told the girl that the situation should be informed to a precinct which the girl complied.

    While there, the girl handed this small calling card for “PLS. ASSIST” from a certain Police Colonel which is not necessary. My sister-in-law really got ticked. She started bombarding the girl with questions like

    “So ano relation mo diyan kay Col. **, Do you think this is necessary? We’re only going to report the incident.”

    Having something up her sleeve, sister - in - law called some one for assistance too (the car is hers btw and for some other important information that needs to be given as well).

    People’s jaws just dropped..

    I am happy because my sister - in -law is not like this type of people. They are like ass holes. They feel that since a relative or a family member is in the magical “LIST” everyone should pay freaking homage to them. tsk tsk tsk

    administration. This is a classic example of ALL imean ALL under the admin are all abusives. ive lived during the years of abuse by the sons and relatives od politicians in the 60’s and 70’s. Do you think you can get justice? FORGET IT.

    MANILA, Philippines –(UPDATE) As a “father and a government official,” Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman apologized for the brawl involving his family and that of a businessman at an exclusive golf club in Antipolo City last Friday.

    “Humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa nangyari [I am apologizing for the incident]. As a government official, hindi ko rin gusto ang nangyari [I also did not want what happened]. Nasaktan ang pamilya ko, nasaktan din ang pamilya de la Paz [My family got hurt and so did the family of De la Paz] … Hindi ko tinatalikuran ang responsibility ko [I am not turning back on my responsibility] as a government official and a father,” Pangandaman said in an interview on radio dzBB.

    Pangandaman was referring to the brawl that broke out between members of his family and Delfin De la Paz and the latter’s 14-year old son at the Valley Golf and Country Club last Friday.

    Both had claimed that the other had started the fight that resulted in injuries to De la Paz and his son, Bino, a junior golfer and a first year high school student at the Ateneo de Manila University.

    The two were allegedly beaten up by Pangandaman’s sons, Nasser Jr., a Lanao del Sur town mayor; Hussein; and their bodyguards over accusations of violations of golf etiquette.

    Pangandaman has denied that his sons attacked the De la Pazes. He said it was the businessman who first hit one of his sons with an umbrella.

    A case is pending before the Antipolo police women and children’s desk.

    Pangandaman said that his “New Year’s wish” was to see the case immediately resolved.

    Base sa pahayag ni Masui, Lanao del Sur Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., 27-anyos, binata, ng Tierra Pura, Quezon City at anak ng kalihim ng DAR, wala umanong katotohanan ang mga naging pahayag ng mag-amang Delfin dela Paz, 56 at Bino Lorenzo, 14, hinggil sa akusasyong sangkot sila sa pambubugbog sa mag-ama.

    Tumawag pa umano sa cellphone ang matandang Dela Paz at humingi ng tulong kung saan makalipas ang ilang minuto ay dumating ang asawa nito at dalawang anak na lalaki na mga armado umano ng patalim at baseball bat.

    Lumutang din kahapon si Rene Maglangue, isang negosyante, na unang napaulat na bodyguard ni Mayor Pangandaman at kasamang nanakit sa mag-ama.
    Sinabi ni Maglangue na nakita umano nito nang papaluin ng matandang Dela Paz ng golf club si Hussein kung saan nagawa niyang mahawakan bago pa maipalo sa huli.

    Oo nga naman. in all fairness naman sa side ng mga pangandaman; baka naman kasi napakaoffensive din magsalita nitong si Mr. Dela Paz at mahambog din. Remember, hindi man sila ganun ka powerful, mayaman din tong si dela paz ha, otherwise, di sila makakapaglaro sa valley golf. in fact mga anak nya nagaaral sa abroad. this is not to justify what the pangandamans did, pro nung makita ko sa TV bata patong mayor at kapatid nya. sa itsura, mukang sa paningin siguro nitong si dela paz e kakaya-kayanin nya lng 2lad cguro ng pagtrato nya sa mga ibang tao nya (I am assuming the ways of some rich guys). eh, let dela paz explain himself also. baka nakahanap lang siya ng katapat at nakarma siguro dahil sa astig din sya sa ibang tao.

    There is now an entry in http://www.pinoygolfer.com whose author is identified only as RGE about an unofficial investigation report of the Valley Golf Club of the incident showing that it was older the De la Paz who instigated the fight. RGE said,” Let’s put it this way, the people we thought of as villains weren’t quite what they were depicted to be. and the supposed protagonists may have yet been quite as factual in their testimony as it turns out to be.”

    Dennis Garcia of the ’70s band Hotdogs has a witty piece in his blog on the De la Paz-Pangandaman fight entitled “ 12 Things that the Valley Golf mauling effectively proved”. It sums up sentiments of many people about the incident.

    54. Its just another day in politics,.. Politicians in PILIPINAS supposedly public servant is not expected to behave in a manner that can compromise image as a public servant, KAPAL MUKS.. However, in our so beloved country Philippines once a politician specially if associated with administration feels like untouchables… Yes, where in a place they will exhibit such behaviour with thier dogs and still nothing is being done in particular those offices like dept of injustice tutal mahilig namang makisawsaw yung matanda run,… so there you go,…..How bout the valley golf club? were they even tried to come up with anything to help out solve case,… I doubt it coz they were even been a haven for those people “Politico’s”….In a country who knows delicadeza as a part of social culture these behaviour is so prominent…

    Common friends acting as intermediaries have begun reaching out to Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. for a possible out-of-court settlement of his sons’ golf brawl with the Dela Paz family.

    Speaking with reporters before the start of the Cabinet meeting at the Macaraeg-Macapagal ancestral house here, Pangandaman said on Tuesday he had received calls from these people seeking to mediate between his family and that of Delfin Dela Paz.

    “Merong mga tumatawag…Merong mga lumapit (There are those who called and who approached me),” he said, but refused to name the so-called go-betweens.

    Asked if his family was open to an amicable settlement, he replied: “I’m open to that, but I would like to emphasize that we did not instigate the incident.”

    “My sons were hurt and so were the Dela Pazes,” he said.

    The willingness of the De la Pazes to have an amicable settlement with the Pangandamans is very disappointing.

    Raymond Fortun, lawyer of businessman Delfin de la Paz and his 14-year-old son Bino, said his clients wanted the suspension of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman put off to pave the way for an out-of-court settlement.

    The public outcry against abusive government officials, symbolized by the Pangandamans, has gone to waste.

    Public support for the De la Pazes has been wasted for their refusal to redress their grievance in court.

    The De la Pazes are no different from other Filipinos who cry for justice and then keep silent later when their oppressors pay them off.

    I’m not saying the De la Pazes are asking for a financial settlement from the Pangandamans. I’m just saying they’re no different from the rest.

    I’m reminded of a man who came to us at “Isumbong mo kay Tulfo” after he was beaten black and blue by a drunken cop.

    My staff and I went all out for the aggrieved man.

    We helped him file a criminal case against his oppressor. We personally accompanied him to the National Police Commission so he could file administrative charges against the policeman.

    And what do you know? He just dropped the criminal and administrative cases against the abusive cop.

    Not that we cared since he was the one who was aggrieved.

    But he should have had the courtesy of informing us about his decision not to pursue the case.

    A son of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman has charged with libel before the Lanao del Sur Prosecutor’s Office the 18-year-old antagonist in the squabble over a mauling incident at an Antipolo golf club.

    Lawyer Ted Pastrana said the case was filed in Lanao del Sur because his client, Nasser Pangandaman, 27, is a resident and mayor of Masiu town in that province, where his reputation is at stake.

    “Besides, Mayor Pangandaman is not known in Metro Manila despite the fact that he’s a son of a Cabinet secretary,” he said.

    Pastrana said Marie Dhel “Bambee” de la Paz, 18, was sued for libel for the defamatory and malicious articles which she had written in her blog in the Internet.

    The blog’s contents had triggered angry responses against the Pangandamans from bloggers nationwide, he added.

    Mayor Pangandaman is not seeking any compensation from Bambee because the case is criminal in nature, Pastrana said.

    However, Raymond Fortun, counsel for the De la Paz family, belittled the filing of the libel suit against Bambee.

    “It’s not a big deal,” he said.

    “It’s not an unexpected move by the Pangandamans because they have been threatening to file such case two days after the mauling incident.”

    Fortun said being public officials, the Pangandamans are vulnerable to criticism.

    After weighing the evidence, the court would eventually dismiss the libel charges, he added.

    However, Pastrana said if the De la Pazes are sincere in settling the case, they should shut down Bambee’s blog as a sign of goodwill.

    After shutting down Bambee’s blog, the two camps could start negotiation for an amicable settlement, he added.

    On the other hand, Fortun said negotiations are going on for an amicable settlement, with three prominent personalities from the administration talking with his client.

    “We deferred the filing of criminal cases before the (Office of the) Ombudsman because I advised my client to concentrate first on the ongoing negotiation for an amicable settlement,” he said.

    “Anyway, what’s the use of filing additional charges when we have to dismiss them later when both camps arrive at an agreement.”

    Last Monday, Bambee’s father Delfin and her brother Bino Lorenzo, 14, filed two counts of slight physical injuries and three counts of child abuse charges against Mayor Pangandaman and his brother Muhammed Hussein before the Antipolo Prosecutor’s Office.

    Two hours later, the Pangandaman brothers appeared at the same prosecutor’s office to file physical injuries charges against the De la Pazes.

    They also filed grave coercion and light threats charges against Delfin, Bino, Bambee, and Bruce who arrived in the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo armed with a baseball bat and Mrs. Maridel de la Paz who was armed with a bladed weapon.

    Fortun deferred Wednesday the filing before the Ombudsman of additional charges against the Pangandamans to pave the way for an out- of-court settlement.
