Unbelievably low gas prices!

Plunging gas prices!

If in Manila, they’re rolling back jeepney and bus fares, which is good, I also can’t help but be happy with gas prices in Philadelphia. But this is almost scary! That’s the oil price plunging in world market! We all complained when gas prices went over a hundred dollars per barrell. But I am really, really concerned about the plunging oil prices because it too has some severe repercussions on the economy and it is already showing in the dismal, very dismal unemployment report.

Cheap gas in Philly!

Here are some pics I took a few hours ago. I took Toby for a drive and of course, a stop at Dunkin Donuts and at a gas station. What used to be around $64 of full tank, today, I only paid about $30. Not bad. But I know that’s not really good.

See the sign? It’s $1.89 per gallon and if I drive to New Jersey, I could find a gasoline station that are even cheaper. Diwa just told me that in their neighborhood it’s even cheaper. Ok! What’s going on OPEC! I remember in the summer, it was a whopping $4 per gallon! Heck, we could not even drive anywhere because it was very expensive to leave home! If you venture out, then you pay a ridiculous amount of toll fee. What used to be $2 to cross the bridge in Jersey? It’s double the price at $4 on Betsy Ross. So I go the round about way of going back to Philly via Tacony-Palmyra at $2.

Planned gas tax!

Now, here’s the interesting part of what’s going on. While gas prices are still well below $3 a gallon, people in Washington are asking if this is now the time to pass a gas tax in an effort to keep demand down.

Gas tax?! To keep demand low? That’s increasing gas prices! For what?!

Great!

Any alternatives?

I have no problem with environmentalist. I’m a tree-hugger too in some ways. And I know that if Americans gets to be successful in cutting oil consumption, it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, help alleviate congestion and eases the burden on the country’s aging roads, bridges then World Peace.

But if we don’t buy gas, what’s the alternative?! Electric cars?! Waaa!

I honestly cannot imagine myself using a bike in the snow!

Yes, that’s good lalo na this Christmas season. By the way, I don’t think nagbaba ng maayos pasahe dito sa Pinas.

Ayun, the price of gas should be at a level of about 20pesos or even lower, mataas pa rin! I remembered sometime in 1999-2001, 12pesos lang gas nun at ang price sa world market ng crude tulad ng price ngayon.

Hayop noh.

yeah, the price of gasoline really drops fast.
