Mar Roxas: Destined to be president like his grandfather?

by reyna20 on November 17, 2008

If you are new to this blog, neutered po ang blogger na to pagdating sa mga kandidato. This is a political santacruzan of all the wannabes with dreams and fantasies to be or not to be. The next in our political santacruzan should be familiar with you all. He is the grandson of former Philippine President Manuel Roxas and son to former Philippine senator Gerardo Roxas. Now, the internet is already bombarded with a lot of websites about his running for president.

mar_with-senate-logo.jpgOne interesting thing I noticed was that, if you google “mar roxas for president“, you’ll find out that there are a lot of “Mar Roxas for President in 2010″ websites. I found out that most of these websites were created by one person from Visayas. It’s sort of like the Pinay scandal SEO internet bombardment. So, it’s a bit tough to find out if there were blog entries written about Mar’s plans, platforms, accomplishments and what people say. You’ll just gonna have to rely on what’s written on his blog or on his Senate blog. For now, I only have two to share – not that you don’t know who Mar Roxas is, haller!

Promdi Living says: “There were two programs he started as Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry that I commend him for – ?Presyong Tama, Gamot Pampamilya? and ?PCs for Public Schools?. Presyong Tama is the precursor of the Botika ng Bayan which increased access of the poor to cheaper medicines. The PCPS, now on its Phase 3, provided computers to public high schools and LGUs nationwide.”. While Lester Cavestany wrote about the importance of politicians connecting with their constituents.

I do find his “palengkenomics” interesting. Did I missed this in my Economics Class? Hahaha! Charing! According to his personal website, he adheres to the philosophy of ?palengkenomics?, which considers the palengke as the economy?s weathervane and the mirror by which its over-all health can be seen and measured. (Prices are shown on his website in one page pdf file).

What I’m reminded though of Mar Roxas was the recent MOA on Ancestral domain where he raised eyebrows of war-mongering. Now, I’m not sure if that was a publicity stunt because several newspapers blasted him. There was no need for him to create awareness to people about his aspirations. But even then, that will not be my yardstick in eventually deciding as to whether he wins my vote or not.

He does have certain advantage given his family’s political history. But is he ready to be or not to be? Is Malacanang his destiny? Finally, my question now to you is this:

Ginigiba at nagiging mall na under BOT. Mauubos na mga botante. Baka kapag mag eeleksiyun na,ala nang Palengke. Suggest mo reyz palitan ang kanyang “sigaw”.Wag na Mr. Palengke.Iba naman.

I am not sure of this guy.

i hate that i am saying this although – neutral pa rin ako noh? – but interesting naman masyado yung palengke watch nya. i checked the site, andun naman talaga mga presyo, pero masyado namang unfriendly ang site dahil, yong mga presyo eh nasa PDF file.

ngayon, if that was intended sa mga more like “palengke” people, indi kaya di naman nila ma-reach ang audience na yan sa website nila? one page info in pdf file for a price watch?

i guess maganda nga ang concept to check and monitor prices. sino ba ang hindi magkakagusto dyan. pero feeling ko, he’s trying to stand out in the crowd kaya gagawa sya nang strategy and drama to create one at ang tingin ko na nakita nya is “PALENGKE”.

medyo di ako agree dun sa “Palengkenomics” nya. pero saka na ako mag-susulat tungkol dyan. hinay muna ako for now hahaha

PALENGKE TV ADS but “a deafening silence on important national issues.” We seldom hear him about his stand on burning issues of the nation. TAHIMIK…tssk!!!! di sila bagay ni KORINA-maingay

Kevin Ray N. Chua November 18, 2008 at 10:08 am

Hi there Reyna Elena! Kevin Ray N. Chua here, the 18-year old blogger of Mar Roxas for President in 2010! :)

http://www.mb.com.ph/TECH20081118141147.html

(Article posted by Reynz for future reference)

Kevin Ray Chua is an 18-year old IT student at the Cebu Institute of Technology.

He has made waves in the blogosphere through his personality-focused political blog on Sen. Mar Roxas.

The blog was a finalist in the News & Media category of the Philippine Blog Awards, was adjudged one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008 and is now one of the Philippines? Top 100 Blogs based on ratified.org.

If at all,Kevin Ray represents the voice of the youth and the importance of political aspirations in effecting change in the country. Excerpts of the email interview:

Q. I guess the primordial question on everyone?s minds is : why a blog about Mar Roxas? Why Mar Roxas?

A. After the 2007 Midterm elections, I was looking forward to 2010. I believed that it was a make or break election for the Philippines. A lot of people are tired with the current administration yet they are not ready for another EDSA. Given my newfound experience in blogging at that time, which I started since 2004, I decided to create a blog for my candidate.

I created the blog to encourage Mar Roxas to run for President in 2010 and I also wanted to have the mindset of the Filipino people that there will be and should be an elections in 2010, and Charter Change would not be an excuse to that. With that, they would resist any tactic of the current administration in tweaking the Constitution for their own sake.

Q. Do you also get vehement feedbacks from the senator?s opponents?

A. Most of the accusations thrown against me is that I am just being used and paid by the Senator or anyone connected from him. I beg to disagree on that. I am just an ordinary college student who?s having a hard time on supporting his college education. I am the blogger behind the blog and I would post anything I like to post.

Q. If and when Mar Roxas becomes President, what do you think should be his most important priority?

A. I believe that a Roxas administration should restore the trust in our government and improve transparency that was damaged by the current administration. The Filipino people are frustrated with the current administration?s secrecy, and the bad decisions that have resulted from it. We deserve a better government from this one.

Another thing that he should also focus is on revitalizing the Philippine economy through the Micro, Small and Medium businesses which comprise 90 percent of enterprises and employ 70 percent of the workforce.

The Magna Carta for MSMEs was already enacted last May 2008 and I expect that with Roxas at the helm of the presidency, he would execute the said measure properly to address their problems. We just can?t ignore their contributions to our economy.

Q. How important do you think is politics in moving the country forward?

A. Politics is the art of guiding or influencing governmental policy. It?s important that we get involved with it and make it work for us, not against us. It has just been a dirty thing because of the people abusing it. I believe that if we have leaders who are willing to take the challenge and serve the people, we would not end up of having a crooked government.

Q. What do you think is blogging?s role in shaping the country?s political future?

A. Blogging has already helped shaped today’s political landscape with more and more bloggers getting involved in sharing their views on issues that matter to them. This medium is widely accessible to everyone knowing that more and more Filipinos are getting hooked online.

I have witnessed from the start on how the power of the internet catapulted Barack Obama to the US Presidency and I also look forward to that magnitude of blogging here in the Philippines.

We have a lot of bloggers here in the Philippines and I believe that with their vigilance and influence, they can play a very decisive role in our society.
