Richard Gordon: Will he do wonders sa Pilipinas?

by reyna20 on November 15, 2008

Ok, if you are new to this blog and is reading the ongoing political santacruzan, this blogger is neutered as far as these candidates are concerned. But like I said, hindi ko aayawan ang mga political advertisements and donations. The higher anda they donate, the more chances I will endorse. Mabilis akong masilaw at nabibili ako. Lalo pang karong unemployed ako? Nakkaaaa!!! Talamak kong haharbatin yan! I could also be paid “in kinds” lalo na pag cute ang campaign manager mas mabilis akong masulsulan. Intiendicitos?

richard_gordon_sen_phil1.JPG

So, our next Mr. World Peace presidentiable should be familiarization ever na with you all by now. He is no other than our local astronaut. Ok, I do like Dick and I hate Virginia. But that?s not my basis of selecting a president. I hope nagkakaintindihan tayong lahat. Don?t even try. Indi ako balimbing na me On/Off switch.

Dick completed his elementary at Colegio de San Juan de Letran, secondary at the Ateneo de Manila University and graduated University of the Philippines College of Law. Towards the end of the 1960s, he helped his mother Amelia run the government of Olongapo after his father James Leonard Gordon was assassinated. With the declaration of Martial Law and after finishing his law degree and passing the bar, he became an Associate of ACCRA Law Offices. (Leche! Tiga-Accra! Hahaha! And if he does, endorse ko sya ever!)

What I remember about Gordon was the drama chorvalais in the late 1990s. Vocal critic numero uno kasi to ni Joseph Estrada over how to salansan del barkos at the US Naval Base in Subic. Lecheng drama yun! And you know what happened, after Erap won, sinipa si Gordon. Hahaha! As in literally! Hahaha! Me proclamation chorva pa si Estrada and appointed Felicito Payumo, Gordon’s numero uno enemy at talagang World War ever ang nangyari. Haayyy! Alam nyo na yun, divanetches?

So, now the Miss Universe question to all of you is: Visionary ba sya? Good leader to propel Pinas sa 1st class level and improve our lives? Will he be DA ONE? And finally:

My question to you now is this:

Follow reyna elena’s political santacruzan!

sabi ko kapag tumakbo si gordon na president di ako magdadalawang isip na iboto sya… ahahaha! i see him as a no nonsense person tapos sya pa guest speaker namin nung college graduation. naging fan tuloy ako.

tingin ko din hindi sya masyadong political fanfare. he is in the place where he has to be for the right reasons.

pero im still keeping an open mind. i can still remember that i was all convinced for gma when she ran against erap. pareho lang pala sila if not malala pa.

I think I can also consider him kasi he has been good in promoting tourism e. And yes, I remember that issue of US Military bases. If my memory search me right, si ERAP lang at si Saguisag (which I really I admire, but unfortunately now medyo depressed now mula nang mawala yung asawa nya) and lumaban against the stay of that base.

But still, he has to prove something more.

Thanks!

I used to like the guy and really think that he would make a great president because of what he did to Olongapo…

until I was able to work there and learned of the sentiments of people there

reynz and sa lahat ng readers mo,

i prepare myself to be “neutered” as well. pero i had to say my piece. especially when it comes to dick.

when i was in college in manila, yes that same college in intramuros, i admire Gordon so much. galing ng dating, no nonsense, action man, very charismatic, visionary, a true leader.

nung maligaw ako ng gapo, and lived there before i got here in the states, i had a closer look. all that we see are all products of a massive public relations stuff. all projection, all papogi.

as a leader he is good. i admit it. when he say something, walang pwedeng bumali. kaso mo, he would only accept conformity from everyone. he is famous for a bunch of quotations, again products of very good and able pr men, and one which is also famous when it comes to the locals..

“kung ayaw mo sa patakaran ko, umalis ka ng olongapo.”

all sectors of the olongapo society is very much organized, from the business community, transport, etc.. down to the baliut vendors and magbobote. sounds good, except for the fact that these organized sectors were also used politically. if i am a balut vendor and happened to be not in favor of his policies, i wouldn’t be able to sell my balut anywhere in the city.

loyalty from everyone is conrolled by economics. you wouldn’t get a job inside sbma kapag di sila ang ibinoboto mo. (back then voter’s id is a requirement to get a job) the hospital is not only in their name, it is run by them. so kung mamamatay ang kapamilya mo, san ka pupunta?

so what is the price of loyalty? pretty much everything. if gordon asked them to “jump”, they would reply “how high?”

i was part of the few young men and women who organized olongapo city independent of the Gordons. i have managed the biggest cooperative, which happened to be based in gapo, and us running our stuff independently ultimately caused us the whole organization, to the detriment of millions of its members.

i almost died for my crusade against tyranny, nepotism and against political dynasty in olongapo. but i managed to live with the aid of the local folks who wanted change but lack alternatives. how can they if your congressman, mayor and down to the barangay level and sectoral leaders are all members of the same family and bataan ni gordon?

as one nationalist have said when he visited olongapo in 1996, Olongapo was the East Timor of the Philipines. a republic on its own, being ran without interference from the national government.

the national media doesn’t care then. they wouldn’t kasi lahat ng bigwigs may bahay sa loob ng base. do you want to lose your summer vacation house?

when erap kick him out, the whole nation saw how loyal and truely how VIOLENT his people were. at least may nakasilip.

i think he wouldn’t run for president at this coming election. but if he will, i’ll be the first one to say no. uuwi ako just to organize a counter campaign.

yes, i want my country to be organized and our people properly represented, but i don’t want us to lose our freedom.

this is just one of the ‘sentiments’ of the people of olongapo that I’ve said…

when dick talks and he caught you not listening, siguradong ipapahiya ka niya… at kapag sinabi niyang isang palakpak, kailangan isang palakpak lang.

looks cute from an outsider, but once you’re there…

@buraot,

this was by far the best comment I ever had (‘sept for Cat) in a very long time and what’s good with this is that you’re a local boy. i really like this, very informative, feel ko ang honesty and down to earth sentiment, local na local.

BTW Off topic: my relatives dot Olongapo City and Iba, Zambales. We lived in Iba, Zambales before we moved to Bicol.

@roy,

“when dick talks and he caught you not listening, siguradong ipapahiya ka niya?”

my former boss here in Philadelphia had that ugali. he would even call my officemates names as in right in your fact ipapahiya ka. one of the reasons bakit lumayas ako sa work ko.

hay naku reynz… small world talaga. kunsabagay, pareho tayong gala. i am not originally from gapo. taga timbuktu ako. pero i lived and worked and came to embrace gapo as my own. nag organize din me ng party for Phillip when he ran as guv 1997 ng Zambales kontra sa mga trapo.

Kaso mo, trapo nga kalaban, e di sempre talo kame. hehehe. mamaya kamag anak mo pa pala yung nisasabi ko. asus. kaya natambay din me ng matagal sa Iba.

sarap sa Zambales no.

[Reply]

reynz November 15, 2008 at 10:24 am

yeah, it’s really nice sa Zambales, but alam mo na, i’ve been in the US for a very long time, taz ang Bicol years ko pa, kaya I have not been in Zambales for a long long time.

The Ca t November 15, 2008 at 11:33 am

Richard Gordon is a fellow activist/marcher of my brother during Marcos time.
Erap) and then Jopson (yon ang napatay).

After martial law, these student leaders were “adopted” by the traditional politicians and Power Brokers and Kingmakers.

They invested in them by giving them employment in their high profile corporate organizations. They saw in them charismatic leaderships which would make them winnable candidates for government positions.

The King Makers may not be visible as Leaders of the Nation but they are the invisible policymakers thru their protegees.

While Bayani Fernando may have used his hobby karaoke singing as a way to reach the whole archipelago to create awareness in preparation for his presidential bid, Gordon has beaten him in this department. His governorship of PRC brings him to disaster area. His tourism projects which initiated the different local fiestas/festivals bring him to the remotest barrio.

Jojo Binay started his campaign when he and Estrada started distributing goods to areas affected by calamities with his name stamped on the pack. hohoho.

Si Loren at si Lacson used billboards. Kaya lang yon kay Loren, natanggal. Questionable yong produkto.

Unlike Fernando and Binay, Gordon’s ability to effect successful project campaign was no longer limited to his own turf. His tourism projects are nationwide.

My first reaction is NO TO DICK. Bastos sya at walang respeto. Kasi pag nanalo sya PEOPLE OF DICK na ang pinas.

Being a leader you need to disciple your people.
Kung natutulog ka habang siya ay nagsasalita,
natural bigyan ka ng diciplina.
Its an insult if somebody is talking and you are
not listening.
Wait for your turn to be a leader and let them
follow you too.
