Bayani Fernando. Is he going to be a good President?

BABALA: Not only bawal umihi dito, neutered po ang blogger na to pagdating sa mga kandidato.

Today, it’s Bayani Fernando. I decided to google Bayani Fernando and see what I could find about him. I’ve read about his presidential aspirations already. There are a number of blog articles already written about him. Let’s start with this one:

  1. Bayani for President by Chef Tonio
  2. An excerpt of what Bayani does on illegal vendors: ” Forces them to leave. (it is not their space, they are creating traffic.); Doesn’t care even if he loses street vendor’s votes. What he does is what is right. not where the vote is. Demolishes illegal sign boards that becomes and obstruction.” Although this one did raised my eyebrown. “That is just some. I just liked the way he and his wife managed Marikina City. It is now a city where I want to live because of the clean and disciplined surroundings.” WIFE?!

  3. Bayani Fernando: The next president? By ASL
  4. An excerpt from the entry: “Fernando may be unpopular among Metro Manila?s working class, but he is gaining reputation throughout the country as a no-nonsense and firm leader. Marikina and Metro Manila as a whole had tasted a BF leadership for so long now. Maybe the proper time has come for the whole country to experience the same. With proper support and organization, he could well be the true dark horse of the 2010 presidential derby.

I honestly don’t know much about the guy, so I have to do a lot of scientific research and everything but I hope to learn more about about him from some of you which is the lazy way hahaha! When I was home last October 2008, we were driving along C5 near Katipunan when my friend pointed out those pink-painted houses along the highway kaya I should vote for him daw. Huh?! Sinungalngal ko nga kebigan ko! Hmpt! Other than that, I don’t know much about Metro Gwapo. I’ve heard about the Gwapotel, but I was told na wag daw akong humada sa hotel na yun. Hahaha! So maybe you can help me respond to the Final Miss Universe question: “Why should I choose or why should I NOT choose Bayani Fernando for President and why?” And more…

My question to you now is this:

In fairness with him, I feel his presence very time I see an overpass which was almost nothing when I was living in Manila. I think EDSA is now a bit better than it used to be.

Will he be a good President? Yes, why not? However, I think there are others who can be better. I am not in favor of his early campaign which is very obvious. Here’s a good question for those who do not believe that it’s obvious. Do you think he will paste his face on very banner, if he’s not promoting himself? For me, he’s not promoting MMDA, but rather what he has been doing at MMDA. These are two different things.

i commend you for featuring the presidentiables and taking a neutral position so we can objectively assess these people san the colorcoated partisanship and blind loyalties to some personalities.

i for one will be providing additional information to help.

Bayani Fernando is one hell of an executive in his own business before he became a civil servant.

marikina is one of the most livable cities not only in the Philippines because of the discipline of the people, its being business friendly. Without Fernando, the Shoe Capital of the Philippines may have become the Rugby Sniffing Capital of the Philippines. Rugby is used for the shoe-manufacturing.

Like Binay, however, his wide is also involved in politics, she is now the mayor of Marikina.

Like Alfredo Lim he is accusing of violating human rights.

This is because of his cases on demolition of shanties in the esteros which block the waterways thus cause flood in the Metro manila.

He is also heavily criticized on the way he handled the sidewalk vendor problems.

Columnists attacked him for being inhuman not to allow these vendors to make a living.

but do these columnists know that these sidewalk vendors are outlets of the smuggled items that legitimate businessmen can not carry in their department stores?

Are these columnists aware that many of the sidewalk vendors are bankrolled by big busimessmen who do not want to pay taxes. Just look at them occupy the sidewalk and the stores do not complain.

To instil discipline, someone has to be a little despotic with a heart like lee kuan yew of singapore. There try to throw or stick your gum in a public area and either you shall be fined for 1000 SD, caned (an American youth was recipinet of this punishment) or you spend overnight in their jail.

in fact Fernando may have been inspired by Lee kuan Yew.

As to his chance of being elected, he might be LIM-onized.

Lim was very popular in Metro Manila when he run for President but even the gimmick that he was linked to Cory Aquino did not make him win.

but of course, there are other factors to consider, the guns, the goons and the gold of the other candidates.

I disagree with ASL, kung di kilala si BF dito sa Manila, mas hindi siya kilala sa probinsiya. Pero nagkalat na mga posters niya dun since September, so, yun nagstart na nga campaign niya.

Although I really like what he did with Metro Manila, I will not vote for him. It would be very excruciating to see more of his Mr. Pogi posters and billboards for the next four years or so. LOL.

NO NO TO BINAY, NO TO BF! NEXT!

iRonnie November 14, 2008 at 5:44 pm

dati agree ako sa mga ginagawa niya and even admire him for carrying it out despite criticisms pero minsan i cant help na di maawa sa mga nadedemolish.

if you’ll weigh a family’s meager source of living against the public’s access to the sidewalk hindi ba mas matimbang ang una? sana ay magkaroon ng konkretong programa na makakatulong sa pangkabuhayan nila bago sila i-demolish.

“MAREA FROM HEAVEN” is the sentence that will tell who will be the next president of the Philippines. Mar Roxas should run as vice president only in 2010…wala sa kanya ang destiny for 2010.

The next president is Bayani Fernando. Why?

Yes, I will vote for Bayani Fernando.

1. He is pro poor – relocated 11,000 squatters, open up sidewalks for ordinary people to pass, he provided cheap dwellings in the port area for poor provincianos staying in Manila.

2. He is an EDSA 1 hero – as a young businessman, he used his construction equipments to safeguard the people against probable attacks of pro – Marcos soldiers and tanks.

3. He is religious – a sacristan when he was young, and contiunues to give concerts for the benefits of the church.

4. He is not corrupt, Grace Dyjamco, whose lot in Tondo was bought by MMDA for a anti flood pump told me that what Chairman Bayani Fernando requested from her is to provide for the families squatting on her lot.before MMDA will agree to buy her lot.

5. “Sa buong buhay ko, wala pa akong pinapatay” he always say., Yes, he is not a man of violence. His politics is politics of performance.

6. He is nationalistic- his native name, and his daughters native name, Tala, speaks for itself.

7. He gets things done – solve the garbage and traffic problems in Metro Manila.

8. He wants equality of the poor and the rich as seen by his advocacy, “pantay pantay pag may disiplina”. so, kahit urban poor ka man or anak ng milyonaryo, sa mata ni Bayani Fernando, pantay pantay lang kayo.

10. May solution sya sa ano mang problema – and very unique ang solution nya na if you analyze it deeper –ultimately pro poor.

That’s a nice pick. Honestly I don’t know him, but if you tell the truth about what you said about him so if ever I had the oppurtunity I would vote for him. What you said about him made me feel happy. I mean there is still a politician that is doing his job rightly and honestly. He is helping people the especially the poor ones which is a good thing to do. If he believes in God then he has nothing to worry about. God might even give him the chance to be president and change the country. God will never leave or ignore people who loves him and never forgets about him. We should all pray to God. He is the answer. And the guy you said has a very big chance to be the president for there is no impossible in this world only possible. I pray to God that this man will be the next president and make Philippines a great country. God bless to all and take care.

the likes of bayani, gordon, binay, duterte are good executives. me mga kamay na bakal, which is oftentimes good sa ating mga makukulit na pinoys. in fact me kanya kanya silang mga achievements sa kani kanilang teritoryo.

hmmm managing Metro Manila is very different in managing the Philippines. He is a good administrator of the streets of manila but how about the economy of the country, the war in mindanao, the unemployment of the newly graduates and tons that are not covered by his current expertise.

The problem with us Pinoys is that we base the qualifications on the performance of a candidate on a certain feat. Remember that being a President does not only solicit one’s capacity of being a good MMDA administrator, in being a good and excellent Makati mayor or being a Good subic official slash senator. The President to be should be versatile like what we have seen in the US. One who can deal with anything from garbage to diplomacy, from unemployment to economy, from education to health.

Binay and Bayani are not Rudy Giuliani and Gordon is definitely not Obama or Hillary.

given the choice of these three plus the surefire candidacy of De Castro, Villar, Legarda and Escudero, I would like to Echo what lee said above: WALA NA BANG IBA?

thank you for this blog…this is so nice..and I wish to share with you a comment which was chosen by Yahoo as the Best Answer to the question “who is the best presidentiable in the Philippines today”.

To wit:

“Whenever somebody ask who is the NEXT president of the Philippines, the top of the brand answer is always BAYANI FERNANDO…why?

Just like the rest of them, I also prefer BAYANI FERNANDO as the next president because…….

1. While Money Villar is working hard for money…insertions, behest loans, influence peddling, Bayani Fernando is in the field directing MMDA staff in fixing the drainage and water system of the squatters of Recto in front of Isetannn. Well, Bayani Fernando together with the Three Tenors, also raised money once in a while ….by singing and the beneficiaries are often the Churches and charitable institutions. Bayani Fernando agreed to join the Celebrity Duets and dont wonder if he donate half of his prize to the Caritas. Bayani Fernando has a soft heart for the Church because he was a Church worker (sacristan, yes, just like Basilio and Crispin), when he was a small boy.

2. While Noli de Castro is leaving his first wife to marry a Muslim, Bayani Fernando was in EDSA Revolution with his construction equipments blocking the pro – Marcos tanks from open firing on the armless people in EDSA.

3. While Mar Roxas is stalking Korina Sanchez ..appearing like a jologs teenager crazilly smittened with the oozing sex appeal of Korina (tanda na,torpe pa rin gihapon..hehehe), BAYANI FERNANDO is appearing presidentiable by sending people to typhoon stricken Panay.

4. While Ping Lacson is being haunted by the public in the Kuratong and Dacer cases…. BAYANI FERNANDO will look at you straight in the eye and say in a charming Marikina accent na”wala pa syang pinapapatay sa buong buhay nya maski sino”.

5. While Loren Legarda is marrying a married man now accused of murder, BAYANI FERNANDO has been a loyal husband to Marikina Mayor Marides Carlos Fernando (daughter of the old rich industrialist Meneleo Carlos) and a doting father to his only child Tala Fernando.

6. “MAREA FROM Heaven” was dominating the political grapevine when GMA 7 featured the MAREA Marcos, Aquino, Ramos, Ejercito and Arroyo in a primetime. FROM is Fernando, Roxas, probably Osmena again and probably Magsaysay again. Then HEAVEN, which is still too mystrious to predict. Then GMA 7 invited Bayani Fernando to join the Celebrity Duets and FVR has revealed a “slip of the tongue” in an speaking engagement that the next president is a bayani (hero) and a pink panther which of course he clarified the next day…the usual psywar charm of the dear FVR.

7. Then there was a talk that Noli de Castro accepted a “downpayment’ for him to run for reelection as VP, and not as President.

8.. Then the “C5 at Taga” scandal which effectively cut down Money Villar to a money making businessman masquerading as a public servant.

9. Then people are printing BAYANI FERNANDO stickers and paste them in their cars….and reports have it that this BAYANI FERNANDO stickers and poster are sprouting all over the country.

What is really MAREA FROM HEAVEN? It is the mysterious spirit that put an ordinary housewife, a lowly paid professional soldier and a college drop out into the Philippine presidency…(But hey, the Atheist group of UP Diliman is promoting the MAREA DeVil Team..whatever that is….)

Well, all said, the direction is pointing to BAYANI FERNANDO becoming the next president….the script is FROM HEAVEN…..”

Salamat sa pag publish nyo ng comment na to…this will help Filipinos to think deeper about 2010.

I am from Marikina and I should say the Philippines need a president like BF – but reality check – mukhang mahihirapan sya.

I got some interesting comments there, hope you don’t mind me pasting the link: http://blogrebel.wordpress.com/2008/04/11/bayani-fernando-and-the-2010-presidential-elections/

Bayani for President !! the right choice para sa kaunlaran. !!
