Obama is no friend to the Philippines?

Ano kamo? Obama is not our friend?! That?s what Inquirer Amando Doronila said in his analysis. What was the basis of his conclusion? Dahil daw ang US President-elect Barack Obama accepted congratulations from nine presidents and prime ministers and returned their calls at eche-pwera si Senora Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Ang mga tinawagan lang daw ni Obama who he said were favored world leaders were:

FIRST ROUND OF CALLS

  1. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd,
  2. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper,
  3. French President Nicolas Sarkozy,
  4. German Chancellor Angela Merkel,
  5. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert,
  6. Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso,
  7. Mexican President Felipe Calderon,
  8. South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and
  9. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Leche naman! Kelan ba natin naging karanggo ang mga yan?


SECOND ROUND OF CALLS

So, nagkaron daw nang second round of calls on Saturday when Obama spoke with:

  1. Chinese President Hu Jintao,
  2. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev,
  3. Polish President Lech Kaczynski and
  4. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

After this second round, Ms Arroyo was pushed back on the queue of the waiting list. Ang kawawang Malaca?ang has been waiting in vain kuno for a return call. None, nada. Wala kahit isang Call Center na tumawag. Hahaha!

NAINIS NUNG OBAMA ACKNOWLEDGED IRAN

Nalungkot ata ang mga tiga-Malacanang kasi naman tong Ahmadinejad congratulated Obama. Eto namang Obama acknowledged the letter! Todas! Umiyak ang Malacanang! Nasaktan ang damdamin! Hahaha! Frosty the snowman daw ang reception from the incoming administration. Ms Arroyo put in a call to Obama at 2-3 a.m. to congratulate him, and Obama did not receive her call.

CHANGE IS CLEAN IMAGE

Ok, listen people, makinig sa lola. Arroyo is heavily identified with Bush who is by far the most unpopular president ever. Reyna Elena is more and uber popular than George Bush, ok? I have a much higher approval ratings than Dubya. Tanungin nyo si Pusa. And Obama is an intelligent and smart guy, gaya ko. He knows that Arroyo is not well liked in the Philippines and it?s not in his interest to be associated with unpopular people. Obama ran on a platform of change and that means good, clean image. Not the kind of Arroyo image. Intiendes? Do I have to remind you all how we fare in the world as far as corruption is concerned?

THIRD SNUB COMING?

Now, recall that Obama snubbed Arroyo twice. Di ba? Eto ngayon ang drama. Arroyo left for the United States to attend some inter-faith chorvalais in New York. Pero bago nyan, dadaan muna sya sa Chicago at me picnic ata ang Filipino community. Pero tingin ko, china-charing lang tayo. Duda ko, ini-istok lang si Obama! Hahaha! I mean, why the Filipino Community in Chicago? Why not the Filipino Community say, in Philadelphia? Or in Orlando? Or in Virginia Beach? O para tipid, sa New Jersey na lang! An dami kamong Pinoy sa Jersey City! Harap pa sya nang Manhattan. Why Chicago? To see Oprah? Picnic sa Millenium Park? Winter ngayon! Hehehe!

No friend to the Philippines or no friend to the Arroyos?

So, balikan naten mga kunichiwa ang sinulat ni Amando Doronila. He said, “It is imperative that Manila should rearrange its priorities vis-?-vis Washington. Obama is not our friend.” Ayan. Change daw naten mga priorities dahil wez return call ang Barack. Say nyo mga kunichiwa?! Is Obama no friend to the Philippines or no friend to the Arroyos at crony nila? Tama ba ang analysis ni Amando?

LOW-BAT

Pero, teka lang. Baka naman nung tumawag ang Gloria eh, eh walang load o kaya low-bat ang Barack?! Hahaha!

    Kung dito nga sa China iniisnab lang sya e dyan pa kay Obama?
    At kung sa Sta Maria Bulacan nga nung dumalaw sya last year naimbyerna byuti nyat inisnab ng mga tao kay Obama pa,lolz.

    5. I voted for Obama. I have high hopes for him. But if he is not going to act accordingly as a president that is playing the diplomat for all countries big and small, time may come when he will be having a problem in the international relations.

    Philippines has been an important nation to the US because of its strategic place in the Southeast Asia and has proven as an ally of the US ever since.

    If he plays cat and mouse with Gloria because he does not personally like her, it is a sign of immaturity leadershipwise. GMA is a a classmate of Clinton but that did not stop Bush of accommodating her in her state visits.

    So far I have not seen phone calls for third world countries.

    Mabuti pa ang China kung saan naggaling ang mga peke at mga lason na pagkain ay tinawagan niya kasi may stimulus package na ibibigay ang China which could help the US in return.

    That is politics. traditional and non-traditional.

    8. naku cat talagang di pwede hindi nila kagad iaccomodate ang China, e bakit ba naman e 1B a day ang pumapasok na USD dito sa china bat di sila matataranta at sinu maniniwalang pwedeng magkautang ang super power na bansa sa China?wala diba?sa araw araw lang na ginawa ng Juice e twing sisilip ako sa bintana nitong unit na tinitirhan ko e 20 buses ng American tourist(considering im in a barriotic place)a day ang nakapark sa harap ng holiday inn(the smallest holiday inn dito)minsan nakakachika ko pa yung ibang tourist sa bar na talagang bilib sila kaya nga sila nagbi visit(pero nakakalungkot ha kung sinu pa yung mga pinoy na Am-citizwn mga parang ayaw pahalatang pinoy sila at ayaw mambati lolz)haaay kelan kaya babalik yung time na magiging interested uli silang bisitahin ang ating bayang sinilangan.

    9. Agree ako sa iyo Kuya Angel - it’s a must for world leaders to have good ethics and amicable to their counterparts all over the world. :)
    Tingin ko lang, hindi na-take ni GMA na hindi siya na-accommodate agad ng Amerika tulad ng dati kaya hayun, super-tampo ang lola sa Malacanang dahil hindi siya ang reported na unang bumati sa bagong presidente ng USA. :(
    Teka, teka…pupunta siya sa Chicago? Oo nga ano, dun nga pala nakatira si Oprah, este si Obama…Reynz, tingin ko tama talaga hinala mo na magkaka-stalker si Obama. *LOL* Si Gloria, kahit kailan…hehehe.. :D

    15. hindi ko rin kasi maintindihan kug bakit masyado din tayong na-hook sa candidacy at pagkapanalo ni obama. siguro nga dahil siya ang kanuna-unahang black american na nagin g presidente ng tate kaya masyado lang tayong natuwa. ibig sbaihin kaya din ng mga itim na patunayan ang kanilang sarili kya nakaka-relate ang mga kayumangging pinoy. but i dont think talaga na may political/economic or whatever na implications sa pag unlad ng pinas ang pagkapanalo ni lolo barack. :)

    diyan masusubok ang mga promises niya about tax denying tax breaks to big corporations that send jobs and businesses to other countries. Pinakamalaking beneficiary niyan ang China.
    second lang ang India at ang Pilipinas ay napakaliit ng share.

    So marami palang mga American tourists diyan. Mura ang travel packages.

    Minsan may mga fil-am kasi na ganyan nga, di sila mambati. ako naman pagnapunta sa ibang lugar pinoy kaagad ang hanap. para may katsika.

    17. I do not know why we Filipinos are fond of using words that are offensive like pandak and blah blah.

    Call the president-elect N or kulot and you will end up in jail.

    When the noosed image of Palin was used for the Halloween, the
    person who did that was arrested and she was not even a VP yet.

    I am disgusted with people who use labels because of physical attributes of people, president or no president.

    Wala na naman siguro tayo sa barrio kung saan ang mga tao ay tinatawag according to their disabilities…like Kirat, Pilay, Pandak, Bulag….

    18. yun na nga lang gaya nung isang blog na nabasa ko sa tingin daw nya e “protest vote” yung nangyari kay Obama kaya talagang marami syang assignment ngayong sya na uupo.
    tunay ka dyan tama ka pinakamalaking beneficiary talaga ang China,grabe wala ng natira satin eto ngang company ko talagang wala ng chance mag operate sa pinas kung di ngalang dito nanggagaling lahat ng raw materials e di sana kahit pano meron parin satin at saka sabi nila mura daw labor dito…di rin dami ring under paid satin na di sumusunod sa law sa pagbabayad sa manggagawa.
    ay naku yung mga Fil-Am na napupunta dito mababa tingin nila samin kasi China lang kami lolz,ok lang sanay na kami ng palaging nalalait hahaha di kasi namin kaya lifestyle sa tate sa totoo lang mas gusto ko dito sa asia di ganun kabilis ang facing at relax dito,work 5days a wk, after 5pm pede ng hapi hapi tapos wala pang eleksyon hehehe.

    minsan sa handlers niya yan..yong taong nakapaligid sa kaniya. overprotective o kaya meon din silang baggage malay mo hindi lang kay GMA kung hindi sa mga pinoy kasi mga pinoy kilalang republican.

    hindi ako republican as you know, wala akong party kasi hindi ako mahilig party hahaha pero ito na ang sinasabi ni
    mccain na bata pasiya anyway he will learn.

    kaya turuan mo ng social climbing. yong kahit na gusto mo nang sampalin ng diploma mong laminated nakangiti ka pa rin.

    ako mahina diyan kaya never akong magrun ng elective office kahit sa homeroom,nyehehe, ang hina ko sa social climbing kaya ang mga visitors ko sa aking website nagbabaging sila o kaya gumagapang, hindi nagkaclimb.

    38. Your Highness, I don’t agree with Doronila’s conclusion that Obama is not a friend of the Philippines just because he snubbed Gloria.

    Friend nga siya ng Filipino people dahil ginawa niya yun.

    Gloria Arroyo is not the Philippines. I think Obama makes the distinction better than Doronila.

    41. I think Obama knows that GMA is dirty. Extrajudicial killings have been investigated by the US Senate in a committee headed by Barbara Boxer. Obama knows that Arroyo is not clean and I’m sure that his advisers are telling him likewise. They’re probably telling him to stay away and distance himself from that imp.

Ca T, yes kailangan na nating mga Pinoy naiwasan ang pag-gamit ng mga ganyang physical labels, noong supervisor pa ako, we have to attend seminars to make sure we use the proper terms like, mentally challenged, speech difficulties, physically disabled.     65. that’s not true Ely na mawawala ang mga call center. isa lang yan sa mga negative ads ki Obama during the election para takutin ang tao not to vote for him.

    una, understandable na ayusin muna nya ang economic problems namen here. what he said was that, pipigilan muna nya ang ibang mga employers to outsource jobs dahil matindi ang unemployment namen here. i mean, truly understandable na man yun di ba? ba’t mo nga naman aasikasuhin ang ibang bahay bago kami?

    i don’t think call centers in manila will just close shop just because. indi mangyayari yan dahil operationally cost effective and competitive pa rin tayo.

    maybe ang growth nang call center will slow down, pero i don’t think erase na sila dyan.

JocJoc Bolante’s trial in a Chicago court, put in spotlight by very vocal anti-Gloria protesters outside the courthouse, was too scandalous to escape Obama’s attention. Gloria’s misconducts are also all over the Web.

    If at all, Obama is showing remarkable sensitivity to the feelings of majority of Filipinos who will be outraged if they see the transformational president chummy-chummy with a woman of strong faith who institutionalized graft and corruption in a third world country to perpetuate her repressive regime.

    Bad signs for Gloria. Three snubs in a row is outside the margin of error. Obama appears to have lumped her together with the leaders of Burma, Zimbabwe and Sudan, who Obama plans to take on (reading his Berlin speech between the lines) and whose congratulatory calls Obama will probably not promptly return.

    There is silver lining for Gloria, though. Bill Clinton is her college classmate, and Hillary may just become the US Secretary of State.
