What to Watch for Tuesday

by Rainier on November 3, 2008

As Obama push harder in Florida, the latest poll has it that Barack Obama has pulled ahead in enough states to win the 270 electoral votes he needs to gain the White House. With states to spare, the poll shows that he is now moving beyond typical Democratic territory to challenge John McCain on historically GOP turf. Who could be hurting John McCain? Could it be his VP choice, Sarah Palin?.

To all of you who are excited to follow this very exciting US Presidential Elections which truly has a global implication, here’s what to watch on Tuesday.

INDIANA and VIRGINIA

Polls there will close at 7 pm. Those states will give an early indication fo what’s happening. Both have gone Republican since 1964 but are in play this year. If Barack Obama wins either one, he’s in good shape.

OHIO

Closing time is 7:30 pm. Ohio has voted with the winner in the last 11 elections and no Republican ever has won the White House without it.

PENNSYLVANIA

Polls close at 8 pm. John McCain has worked this state as hard as any in the country, viewing it as the key to his electoral strategy.

EXIT POLLS

The television networks might be a little cautious in using them in states with early voting. Exit polls only reflect the sentiments of individuals voting on Election Day. In some states, 40% of the votes will have been cast earlier.

WEST COAST

Unless the race is a total blowout for Obama, the Democratic candidate won’t be able to get the needed 270 electoral votes without California, where the polls close at 11 pm.

A LONG NIGHT

A McCain victory, if it happens, figures to be narrow. It won’t happen by network projections. It will take counting on all the votes, into the wee hours.

POLL CLOSING

Remember, polls are open from 7am to 8pm and those in line at 8pm will be able to vote.

FIRST-TIME VOTERS

First time voters must show a driver’s license or other form of identification.

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

Contact your county board of elections to see if a campaign-related clothing and accessories are allowed at the polls.

POLL LOCATIONS

For poll locations, go to www.votespa.com or call 1-877-868-3772.

I really want Obama to win Reynz kahit na trip niyang huwag magpa-outsourcing sa Philippines. Tingin ko mas gugustuhin ko ng pag-isipan niya yung outsourcing problem kaysa makipaggiyerahan siya sa mundo. :)

And to those who are not familiar with Proposition 8: This is an initiative state constitutional amendment on the 2008 California General Election ballot, titled Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry. If passed, the proposition would “change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California.” A new section would be added stating “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

hi edelweiza,

alam mo ba na me nag-tsismis saken na tiga EASTWOOD (hahaha) that they’re for McCain at ang reason is the Obama will cut outsourcing.

Obama does talk about protecting jobs being outsourced to the world, but he’s also protecting America’s business interest and I know, na pag bumagsak ang Amerika, bagsak na rin lahat.

I don’t know how much effect sa outsourcing ang mangyayari, but in the bigger picture, the world will be better off kung malakas ang economy nang estados unidos.

natikman na natin yan just last month with what happened sa wall street. na kahit walang ka-alam alam ang mga tiga saten, tinamaan pa rin.

so, i believe Obama is the man who can fix these things.
