Electoral College is not a school

by Rainier on October 6, 2008

Let me take you to the 2004 Presidential Elections. The red are Republicans and the blue, Democrats. This was how the electoral map looked like when George W. Bush won the election.

My entry today discusses the Electoral College. It’s not a school sweetheart. They are the ones who will decide who is going to be the next President of the United States. Let me pick up Cat’s explanation in response to Bluepanjeet’s question about the electoral vote.

It’s like this:

Ganito yan bluep.

Obama is trying to win the following Republican states of at least nine from the not very expected Florida, considering that this is Jeb Bush country, the brother of George Bush, to Indiana and North Carolina. Kaya Malditang Pinay! Hahaha! Why do I know that Obama will win North Carolina? Hahaha

Why are these states falling into Obama’s wings? One word. Unemployment. The financial crisis shifted the electoral map in favor of Obama. Ironically, the more John McCain campaigns hard about the economy, the more it backfires on his ratings and economists overwhelmingly favors Obama over McCain.

Nga pala, Pennsylvania (my home state) is Republican. But the latest polls are tilting in favor of Obama.

P.S. I love Arianna Huffington

I love the way she writes. I wish I could write like her. After all, we’re both “her”. Just read what she wrote today on her Sunday Roundup:

“When it comes to leadership, this week proved we are living in a moment of mediocrities — a long moment. Sarah Palin, wearing her ignorance like a beauty pageant tiara, was “annoyed” that she was asked actual questions by Katie Couric. George Bush looked the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression square in the eye…and threw up his hands. Congress stepped into the leadership void and promptly created another one. And the less said about Alberto Gonzales’ week, the better. Desperate times cry out for exceptional leaders. It’s not a matter of stratospheric SAT scores or Mensa-level IQs. What we need is the one thing in short supply: wisdom. It’s in our DNA to fear the evil genius. But we still have to be trained to recognize the dangers of the clueless mediocrity”.

nice one. now i understand. Question:

do they have separate votes for the VP o package deal sila ng President. I mean if ever manalo si Obama automatic ba na si biden ang uupo na VP? kaya ba ganun na lang ang promote ng VP candidates sa presidentiables nila kasi madadala sila sa white house if ever obama or mccain wins?
