you need to get your mighty ass down that whatever thing you think you’re stepping on. looking at other people as nobody and yourself an enlightened somebody does not make you cute, but definitely an arrogant prick.

i don’t see anybody grandstanding. only too defensive kids who, instead of answering valid observations, had decided, flounting “high-polluting” to make it sound heinous that such observations were even made.

kahit na gaano ka pa kagaling magsulat, or however noble your cause might be, or howw many medals you got on your first grade, it doesn’t matter now, you just lost the respect of people like me.

Again, I’m not saying that you should stop criticizing the PBAs! It’s definitely warranted. My point is simply this: this point is very level-headed compared to the rest of the posts. The things that you enumerated lists very well-constructed concepts and ideas – far removed from the rants and assumptions of other posts.

You see, my loyalties are not based on personalities. My loyalty is to a concept. People who simply criticize for the sake of criticism just don’t cut it from me. Awards are just awards. The fact that I won doesn’t take anything away from me – nor does it add to the things that I’ve been able to do through my blog.

I don’t think you’re trying to please anyone – nor am I trying to do that myself. That’s the last thing on my mind. What people think never bothers me. My blog is a lightning rod and it was never meant to be something that would please people. I respect your great influence as far as this blog goes and I don’t expect you to yield to any pressure – just the same as I haven’t. But at least be consistent. Having Manolo here does not validate the tone in which you criticized the awards (because that seems to be the overarching mood of this post). It validates the core concepts but not the sensationalized banner statements that were done in the previous posts. Manolo wouldn’t have said the same things, imho.

By the way, What’s your official stance regarding the blog awards as a concept?

A) We don’t need a blog awards – the concept itself is a joke.

B) we need a blog awards – but one that is not headed by your sworn enemy

I honestly think he has nothing on me, I’m sorry. I hate it when nobodies try to grandstand. It’s one of the things that I just can’t stand. If you have a different opinion, that’s ok. I don’t expect to have permanent allies for the sake of having them.

Even though your comments seemed to be moot and academic at this point, considering what had just transpired, which gives me the belief that you did not bother to read the entire entry and the comments, I?ll respond to your comment as I do to everybody.

1. Possible flaw?!

There was a flaw. A lot. One of those? It?s called ?independence/delikadeza?. Please read the entire entry and discussions. There were other very valid issues that Cat, Jepoy and GameOpps raised. I?m sure you?ll see them on the entries, since you came in very late in the discussion.

2.) A dig against the PBA is a dig against Manolo – with him being a judge.

PBA is not Manolo and Manolo is certainly not PBA. If you are insinuating that we should just overlook the obvious weakness of PBA?s selection and judging just because Manolo is there, then I certainly don?t find you credible enough to be fighting against the governments misgivings. I hope you see my point.

I always put this out as an example. Manolo?s being a judge at PBA does not in itself makes PBA credible, irrelevant of how credible Manolo is because those are two separate entities or personalities. PBA has to win it?s credibility by it?s own and not put on a lipstick, meaning, you put a lipstick to a pig, it?s still a pig. I don’t understand why Filipinos back home are so fond of this “name dropping” as if one big name makes the whole thing credible thus should be acceptable.

3,) Awards are just awards.

Not with how PBA Benj, especially how they market this award! Using such words as ?Philippines? and ?best? etcetera. It?s a national joke and we the overseas Filipinos gets the brunt of the joke and yes, I am half-way around the globe. I hope you are aware that the world?s community has now gone very small because of technology, so how could you claim that I don?t care? I am as much a stakeholder in this as much as you are.

First, find out what parody means and you can get back with me.

Second, if you are telling me to stop my criticism with PBA, you?re in for a surprise.

Given the arrogant posting you made over at bluepanjeet?s site and given the fact that I am aware that all you have to do now is defend and ask people to accept your award as credible, it won?t work Benj. You?re fighting a public perception. And given the very demeaning entry you made at bluepanjeet, you have already put yourself in your own proper place as you have said. The public is the judge and I don?t think you are winning in the respect category. So, I guess that pretty much tells you who you are and who I am.

I do agree that ALL of us Pinoy bloggers have a stake regarding the PBAs future and reputation since by name, it has already represented us without our explicit permission. There are two ways of going about it – do you try to effect change and make it better or do you try to destroy it (knowing very well that a replacement will surely come after).

Reyna Elena, we have certainly been on the same side of many wars (and I do remember your support). I also remember defending one of your wards now on a totally different issue. But my allegiance is to what I personally think is right. I’ll say it again – Awards are just awards. I don’t agree with most award-giving bodies but the PBA is special because it gives a very fragmented (literally and figuratively) community a chance to come together. Maybe to you, such a feature doesn’t appeal to you as much (since you’re across the globe) but for people who are able to make it to the event and watch it online, it’s a big deal.

statesmanship doesn’t only come with age, breeding and good education, it simply is inherent to open-minded individuals. values that these kids, who claim to be achievers, quite obviously, lack.
