Charice on Oprah: The World’s Most Talented Girl (Dreams Come True)
I was so glad my job phone interview only lasted 30 minutes this afternoon, in time for me to watch the Oprah Winfrey Show. This afternoon was “The World’s Most Talented Girl” and that was Charice Pempengco. I decided to twit what I was seeing on the show. Here’s the twitter messages I sent.
Honestly, I was really moved to tears by Charice’s life story which to me was like a living film. You mean I could relate? Of course. You see, when I was young and restless, I was the Batallion Commander back in Barrio Siete Barangay High School. Nung malaman nang baryo namen na Cinderella pala yong Batallion Commander nila, andaming gustong tomodas saken nun. See? There’s your connection. Now, let’s go back to Charice.
At three years old, she witnessed her father trying to shoot her mother, neighbors helped them. That’s why they left the father. She was crying because, for the show, they went back to their old neighborhood in San Pedro, Laguna (or was that Balibago? I was confused now…), to the old apartment. When they reached the neighborhood, she became emotional because she said, she could still remember everything and she was narrating all of these on national TV in the United States, people! To me, it was really heart-wrenching. Besides, all the squatters, the tricycle and the daily life in Manila was shown. I think, me nakita pa akong riles nang tren.
They showed her “Dream Journal” where she would draw all of her dreams. She had a drawing that she was singing with Andrea Bocelli, another drawing that she was singing with Celine Dion. And I thought it was very sweet to see her and her mother singing “Bahay Kubo” with her on the guitar. Real sweet.
Indeed, Oprah called David Foster to help Charice. Duda ko, tandem si Oprah and David as the real manager here. I don’t know. A video was also shown where Andrea Bocelli called Charice and invited her to Tuscany. Umiyak ang Charice. And I thought those videos showing her in a playful mood inside Andrea’s car were really funny when she was in Tuscany, Italy. “I can’t believe I am in Andrea Bocelli’s car!” sabi nya!
Charice sang the very first song she learned when she was a kid, “My Heart Will Go On” and I’m telling you, her rendition was very powerful. You could see David Foster’s smile and nod with approval from the piano. That was one heck of another great performance.
After her performance, a caller from Washington DC went on air. To everyone’s surprise, it was Celine Dion that popped up on the TV monitor! Charice cried out of surprise and the more she cried when Celine Dion invited her for a duet performance at Madison Square Garden in New York where Celine will have a concert. She’s (Celine) on tour at the moment. Celine told David Foster, “David, take good care of that girl!” and I’m pretty sure, with David’s record, Charice will really become one big star and I really wish her success. After all, she’s now one Philippine treasure!
But here’s what I don’t understand people, and I have to apologize for the pics because I just captured them on Youtube. You see, I’ve seen dozens and probably all of Charice’s video on YouTube. In Korea, this was how she was dressed. A really cute kid! Remember that video?
During her first magical performance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, I thought she was elegantly dressed again, as a kid. And you know, this was the reason why she endears to the American audience.
On the David Foster Show, I thought her dress was really, really classy.
Are you getting my point here mga kunichiwa? Now, let me ask you! Why in the holy fkin bloody ugly sonnamagadimalichiwa that Charice is being dressed like one 101 year old woman in Manila?! Really, anong katarantaduhan to? Lookie! Lookie! I mean, where is Monique Lhuillier?

i still liked her original look nun sa SBS better. wag nang bihisang parang matanda at lalong wag masyadong gawing overrated dahil maliligaw ng landas. kung pano sya nagustuhan ng tao, as much as possible stay there and improve there. wag yung gagawing matandang trying hard dahil when she appeared in ellen de generes di ko masyado nagustuhan as compared sa sbs becasue with ellen, it seems her oldies are packaging her as an older singer as compared to the sweet teenage girl in sbs.

YEAH! i’ve read a couple of blogs, yong ABS-CBN ba ang manager ni Charice? na wala daw pakealam hahha duda ko nangu-ngumisyon lang ang mga yan sa kinikita at KIKITAIN nic Charice, di ba ganun? I mean ba’t nga ba parang walang international drama ek ek chorvalais ang ABS para ki Charice or di ko lang alam?
Hay naku, ako rin, kaya ko nilayasan ang Pilipinas kasi they refuse to discover me kahit na very talented ako. Tingnan mo ang nakadiscover nang talent ini-istok na ako at ex convik pala ang gago!

kung babalikan nyo yung kung saan sya nanggaling, 2nd best lang sya dun sa pakontes ni regine velasques. yung kalaban nya na nanalo e mukhang matanda (no offense ha) pano yung nanay nya e mina-makeupan sya na kamukha ng make-up ng nanay nya. ayun, nanalo. baka akala ng mga producers nya sa tv e mas mukhang matanda mas patok. ayun, naging patoka sa manok yung nanalo sa contest. hahaha, ang bad ko

nung nasa manila nga ako, i was watching several TV stations mga drama ekek at napapansin ko talaga, ang mga damit mga pang whatever hahahaha pilit na pinapahinog ang mga ineng hahaha
pag dito sya sa US, maganda sya at matinong tingnan, nag-iiba lang talaga ang mukha nya when she’s back in manila hahaha

alam mo naman uso sa tin, yung may mga raffles at kung ano anong butingting kahit na ang init init, hehehe. am sure meron ka ring cocktail dress dyan na mas maraming raffles, umamin ka na, heheeh.

dinelete nang youtube yong original uploaded video, mas maganda ang quality nun, buti na lang me nag-upload uli. i watched it sa HD at talagang ang ganda kamo. well, talaga namang things happen for a reason. medyo naiyak ako sa story nang buhay nang batang to. and you know, eto ang mga story na napapamahal ang mga amerkano and i know puputok to si charice sa US. intay lang tayo nang music na gagawin ni David Foster sa kanya hahaha!
