It’s tough to find a job mga kunichiwa noh? Just look at this picture.
I don’t even have to write anything about this piktyuraka kasi nakaukit ever sa fez nang mga boylets na to the stress and what seemed to be life’s uncertainties. Luckily, kahit tag-hirap sa US, at least andito pa rin ako and am sure konting tiis lang, I’d be able to find one handsome moneyed professional fafa. Eto nga, this is already my 3rd palamunin month!
But today, I had my 3rd job interview. The 1st was in Chicago, the 2nd was in Washington DC, this 3rd one was here in Philadelphia. In The Navy. Here was the email I received.
Na-sight nyo? Four people wanted to chika chika wid me. First time ever I had this. I didn’t know kung convention ba tong pupuntahan ko or what? But when I arrived, idinag-dag kamo yong VP-Technology to interview me as well. So, lima na sila. LIMA?! Ano to? Picnic?!
I was really excited to go in The Navy. Boys! Boys! Boys! Tumawag ang Joey.
“Tanga! Matagal nang lumayas ang Navy sa Philadelphia. Kahit ngayon, pantasyadora ka pa rin. Double check mo email mo, baka na-onse ka na naman!”
“Bitter ka lang! Hmpt!”, sabi ko.
Na-plantsa ko na ang kinula ko kahapon. Pinahiran ko na rin nang crudo ang high heels ko para kuminang. I memorized certain lines. Praktis, praktis, praktis. Kinausap ko na sarili ko sa harap nang mirror.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am really pretty after all.”
Lumayas na metch. Sakto impunto, I was there.
First round of interview, si Rich. Sya ang HR Benefits. Diniskas nya ang benefits if you work with them. Libre koryente, pati na heater. Sila daw ang magbabayad nang utilities. Ang CR? Hindi ka na huhulog nang venchingko. Sweldo? Lagpas lang nang piso sa tres-sientos kada otro dia. Free na rin ang gamit nang elevator. Wag ka lang daw tatakbo dahil pag nagulantang mo ang gwardya sibil, namamaril.
“So tell me about you!”
“My name is Rainier. High School platoon commander, homecoming queen sa high school reunion and I am very talented.”
After the whole chika chika which lasted for an hour, feel ko na I must have this job. It’s a venture capital firm. Alam nyo yun divanetch? You have a business idea, gawa ka nang business plan, find ka nang funding company, sila yun. Ang tawag sa kanila, angel investors. Swak na swak, anghel naman talaga ako ah! Mga pukalechewa kayo, kayo lang naman ang ayaw maniwala! Grrr!
Second round of interview, si La. She was moving out of the country pala, kaya may I vacant ang kanyang position. She told me na ganetch ang pag-tiklop nang financial statements, me mga presentation chorvaloo kang gagawin to the BOD. Cho-chorvahin ko daw business plans with analintek review. You’d be preparing variance analeche. You’ll have your own National Convention talking to about 20 major investors blah blah blah financial odi-odi-audit, echi-wari-wari-wa and compliace chorva to the Securities and Exchange chuvalinga. Whew! Dami! Pucha!
“So tell me about your previous job. What did you do?”
“Oh, I shred and push a lottta papers. I do make great coffee!”
45 minutes na ang chika namen and I pretty much answered lahat nang Frequently Axed Questions . Although, mixed ang feelings ko kung she likes me, she likes me not. Natapos ang interrogation, she game me her card, merci, merci, thank you – umalis na sya. So, wait ko ngayon ang 3rd person to interview me.
Bumukas ang pinto.
HR guy? Taka aketchewahara!!!
“Reynz, there’s been some abrupt changes. We’ll just call you and let you know.”
Para akong timaan nang bulalakaw. Narinig ko na kasi ang linyang yan. 1 million times. Prssst! Hu! Hu! Hu! Mistulang pugon at nasusunog ang parking lot sa paninigarilyo ko. Drive ako sa city. Hinanap ko si Chuva. Kelangan ko nang kalinga. (Ammffftta at ako pa ang pinagbayad nang lunch! Hmpt! Grrr!)
Ano ba talaga ang nangyari? Tanong ni Chuva.
Wala! Sinabi ko lang naman ang totoo eh.
Ano na namang totoo sinabi mo! Kilala kita! Bungangera ka!
Tado! Tinanong nga ako kung bakit ako nag-resign sa Princeton!
O, ano sabi mo?
Eh di ba nga, na-chugi boss ko. So mega hire nang bagong COO yong CEO at ang hudas na COO nag-bitbit nang isang maletang management team nya kaya chinugi kami at isa ako run.
O, eh di ba yun nga ang nangyari?
Nag-tanong den kung baket ako nag-resign sa Philadelphia.
O, ano sabi mo?
E yun nga di ba, umalpas ung kotse nang boss ko sa turnpike dahil me sleep apnea, muntik nang ma-chugi, kaya nung naka-recover binenta yong business. O, di chugi na naman an lola.
E, ikaw naman pala tong me balat sa pwet eh! Gagah ka ba! Eh siempre matatakot sayo ang mga yon!
Me tama si Chuva.
Sabagay… kelan ba naging aktwal ang buhay nang mga badinggerzie? Karamihan naman samen mga pantasyadora. *hikbi*
Kaya sa susunod na job interview, patawad Mike, pero bubuhayin kita.
UPDATES:
Kahapon after lunch, Chuva and I sat and smoked at the Independence Mall Park in Philadelphia. Bigla bang tumawag ang HR Assistant. Shocked moi. The CAO (Chief Administrative Officer) wanted to talk to me daw by phone in the morning. Ha?! Why? Whatever. I’m glad, nag-bago isip. So, the phone interview just finished kani-kanina lang. It’s waiting game for me for them to tell me if I will make it to the 2nd round of interview. I was told the 3rd round will be the signing of the offer letter. Let’s see what happens.

I hope makahanap ka na. Kasi nga ang hirap dito ngayon–major foreclosure crisis and all. Pero sikliko lang iyan ng ikumumiya. *Kahit na di ko alam kung papaano ga ito nangyayari. Hayaan mo makakahanap ka rin ng trabahong bagay sa yo at yung malaki ang sweldo, syempre.

Ang tindi mo, Reynz! Bilib ako sayo talaga. Alam mo, whenever I read your posts about work, nare-realize ko talagang I am not cut out for the corporate life. Ang motto ko sa buhay, kapag para sa akin – ibibigay sya sa akin quesehodang late ka interview
Something better is coming kaya hindi binigay sa’yo yan.
Napanood mo ba yong Pursuit of Happiness – pumunta sya sa interview shirtless ata or madungis kasi nakulong sya the night before dahil hindi sya makabayad ng parking fines. Ngayon para lang umabot sa appointment from kulungan dumiretso sya sa interview. Tapos ask nung interviewer, What would you think of me, if I hired a shirtless applicant (hindi na ito exact words ha)? Sabi nya – He must be wearing a really nice pants! Tapos natawa ang interviewee at na-hire sya

nag-sariling practis ka pala, well ginawa ko rin yan nung nasa pinas ako, i even had a very funny experience talaga nyan hahah funny but successful, i think blinag ko sya, in a nutshell, nagbukas ako nang maliit na accounting firm, opis sa apartment sa murphy, ang nasa magarang stationery, greenhills hehehe hiniram ko address nung opis nang friend ko (sumalangit nawa sya) hahaha
am sure meron dyan, darating den yang work na yan saken….alam mo na… mirror mirror on the wall, i am really pretty after all…. puro confidence chorva ekek lang

ganyan din ako nina hehehehe, minsan there’s the “x” factor thing na di mo maintindihan and you know na something is not bagay somewhere.
pero alam mo, malakas ang feeling ko na yong dalwang nag-interview saken really likes me esp yong HR na walang ginawa bumungakngak sa mga katarataduhan ko… sana mag-about face sila hehehe o baka mali ang analintek review ko?

alam mo, if you have a positive feeling abt an interview, alam mo yun, kapag okay yung kwentuhan ninyo, tapos may konting tawanan, good points na agad yon. minsan nga wala ng usap tungkol sa trabaho e, diretso na agad sa chismisan, di ba? so am sure, it’ll work out for you. ano naman kaya ang calling calling nung chicago sa iyo?
dito rin, karamihan ng interview with lotsa lotsa pipol, pero sabay sabay, parang defending your thesis ba, heheh.

noong kami ay nagbenta ng bahay, simula pa lang ng foreclosure crisis, nahirapan talaga kaming ipagbili yoon. ngayon puro for sale sign na ang makikita sa bawat kalye pero ilang buwan na wala pa ring activity sa mga ito. tanong lang, saan nagsisipagtira ang mga taong nag benta ng bahay nila. wala naman akong nakikitang homeless dito? puno na ba ang mga shelters?

naku, if you have seen – kalimutan ko kung Primetime Live or 20 sum’tin – basta primetime show sya, me loophole daw ang laws wherein ang ginawa nong isang HO (homeowner) na bumagsak ang price nung bahay from $400k to $300k, na-aprub nang bank for a $200mortgage, buy nang bagong bahay at for sale ang bahay and i think sabi sa show, pwede daw mag walk out ang HO dun sa original loan – di ko nasimulan kaya gulo ako. hahanapin ko yon.
in any case, do you know bakit ang hirap mag-hanap nang FOR RENT or apartments ngayon? full pack ang mga apartments ‘day! dun nag-sisilipatan sila piktapos ibenta ang mga balay. that’s what i read.
di sila titira sa shelters. isusuka nila hahaha
