Did John McCain just made a really bad decision in choosing his VP?

John McCain’s camp made some scene-stealing, headline grabbing stunt during the last Democratic National Convention by putting Gov. Sarah Palin as their Vice-Presidential pick. The choice created a buzz. Some buzz. More buzz. And it’s really been buzzing ever since! The buzz has now gone on some bizarre twist!

Palin has a 17-year-old daughter Bristol who is five months pregnant. Palin’s husband, Todd, then age 22, was arrested in 1986 in Alaska for driving under the influence of alcohol. There are reports that Palin ordered the dismissal of Alaska’s public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.

Just today, the latest on Sarah Palin’s husband was that he was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a fierce states’ rights group that wants to turn all federal lands in Alaska back to the state. The Republican’s of course are charging that the Democrats are out in a very nasty smear campaign. I guess the message is that the American public should just close their eyes and accept John McCain’s choice. Hmmm…. not gonna work with the American public! Trust me!

Barbara Streisand? Not amused. She wrote: “I believe John McCain chose Gov. Palin because he truly believes that women who supported Hillary–an experienced, brilliant, life-long public servant–would vote for him because his Vice President has two x chromosomes.”

Personally, I don’t think this is a Palin story. This is a prelude as to how John McCain makes decisions: impulsive decision-making with very little background investigation and due diligence. On the other hand, this also shows Sarah Palin’s personal ambitions without thinking that she’s putting her family on the line. She knows very well that she and her family will be under intense scrutiny. What was she thinking? And what was John McCain thinking when he chose her? I don’t see any WORLD PEACE here. Do you?

  2. that’s true. I see erap in him.. impulsive, unreflective and un-insightful. More qualities of a president unbecoming rather than the good ones. Para pati syang pikon ano? Palagi pinapatulan patutsada ng mga artista.

He is obviously demented. Imagine picking a vice president that has skeletons in her closet. Kung dito yan sa pinas mananalo pa yan haha… eh kaso di naman bopols ang mga voters dyan sa america eh

  20. I don’t think the selection of Sarah Palin in tandem with McCain was a bad decision. There was a so called process in the selection as we believe she was not just plucked out from the list prepared by the GOP panel and McCain has his own mind to know the risk he was taking if his decision was padalus-dalus. The same thing is true with Obama opting for Joe Biden. Others are quick in their criticisms in saying that Biden is too old tu run with Obama.

In politics, may kanya kanya ring diskarte. It’s only the pundits who seem to know more.

  22. joeseg,

you’re right. kakabasa ko lang nang Phila Inquirer at they detailed yong background investigation sa kanya pati na yong 17 year old pregnancy, yong possible abuse of power ni Palin at iba pa. i saw her last night, magaling na bokadura at dog fighter hahaha but i want to know more of her, pwede sya, kaya lang me observation ako, mukhang her background is not that of a Republican conservative - magbabasa pa ako! but hey, i really like Laura Bush! i think she was classy, stunning and eloquent! pucha i wish sya na lang ang VP! hahaha

  24. strategic choice nga ni McCain to win yong Reagan Democrats, Hillary supportes and working class white voters sa swing state nang Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. let’s see how she fares sa debate. so far on the positive side ako although i’m not convinced dun sa background nya standing against the republican conservatism
