Are you qualified for the job? (Part 2)

by reyna24 on August 17, 2008

Napilitan tuloy mag-hanap nang work. Kahit ano.

So yun nga: Nag-tanong:

Napatanga ako. Di ako naka-reak agad. Pero nag-mistulang missile ang dugo ko sa galit. Why?

In charge ako sa hiring dun sa division namen sa former employer ko. Sinasala ko resume, I interview and I hire people. And more importantly, na sana alam nitong nag-interview saken, general rule: nevah evah evah ask the applicant kung qualified sya sa job. Por que? Eh sya tong me responsibilidad to decide kung indi qualified and applicant. Period. It’s not the applicant whose supposed to say kung qualified or indi sya qualified. Of course, napaka-oxymoron naman nang question na yun, eh dahil applicant ka, siempre isasagot mo “Of course, I am qualified”, so why bother to ask?

Same industry nang previous job. Only thing, medyo kumikinang nang konti ang profile nito. The other thing, of course naisip ko, dahil recruiter sila, they wanted a perfect candidate para siempre continued ang business dealings sa client nila. Otherwise, understood na yong pag pumalpak ang candidate nila, umusok din ang kontrata nila with their client. Simple enough to understand.

  • Reynz –“I don’t see why not. You have my resume, my ECQ and the Candidate Assessment that essentially answers all of your questions.”

  • Head Hunter –“But, is your job interchangeable?”

“For profit or non-profit, government or non-government, accounting is accounting is accounting. No matter what type of industry the basics, pronouncements and standards are almost the same. Financial reporting and presentation may differ but those are aesthetics. You’re guided by the basics and they’re all the same. That’s why audited financial statements, be it private or government always have this phrase… “generally accepted accounting (or auditing) standards”.”

Ang ganda ano? Intelligent na intelligent. Superlative ever. Talagang feel na feel ang MBA.

Hindi yan ang sagot ko!

Hmpt!

Nagalit nga kasi ako eh.

Grrr!

Ang sagot ko: “I don’t see why not.” pa rin. Grrr!

“We’ll let you know”. Yun ang sabi.

I didn’t hear anything anymore. Which I did. Kaya, if you noticed, medyo pumapalya ako sa entries ko. Busy ang lola.

I have prospects in Manila. Kesyo she knows this, she knows that, at mai-papasok nya ako here and there. Grrrr! Ganun.

And so, I told my cousin nga sa isang university in Manila na medyo malabong tanggapin ko ang work dun. Feel ko ang mga university boys, don’t get me wrong. Hehehe! Talagang gusto ko silang ma-feel. Lahat nang gurls pasado. Lahat nang boys, bagsak. Para parati sa piling ko ang boys. Pero, mukhang di ko feel ang sweldo! Hallerr! Mataas na ang boylet expenses ngayon ano?!! Grrr!

Pero, while writing my entry today mga kunichiwa, bigla ba namang tumawag din ang ex-boylet ko who’s now working in Dubai. Shoccckkkksss!!! Was he reading my mind?! Ano yun?! He wanted me to fly to Dubai. May I pay daw nya ang fare. Stay daw ako there for two (2) weeks then look for a job. Trulala ba to, Nina?! Hmmm…. ~isip~ ~isip~

Depress and lola. I know, an tanga-tanga ko. Kaya, I drove to Jersey today. Wala akong dinatnan. Pero me karatulang iniwan: “We’ve relocated.” Walang forwarding address.

yeah, you have a great chance having a US experience. With your US passport, di ka madedehado sa offer kasi considered westerner ka na. I didn’t know you would be interested to work in Dubai or Middle East kaya di ako nag-ooffer ng options.

But if you are really interested I can give you websites of the companies where you can apply. I suggest na ipamudmod mo muna CV mo bago ka mag-fly or pag may interview dun ka na lang mag-fly. Lam mo kasi minsan they will fly you here and check in ka pa nila sa 5-star hotel pag interview na.

Meron din mga head hunter dito and I should say, mas better naman sila kesa dyan sa nasa blog mo. Write me an e-mail, we can discuss. You can also send me your CV and I will pass it around here.

Is it possible to have a list of the reliable websites/headhunters that you know? I hope it’s not too much to ask. Maraming Salamat po.

honestly, i don’t have any. i rarely deal with them, except this one headhunter in chicago where i saw their name on the company’s website.

i’m wary and doubtful of headhunters because they are annoying like this one girl whom i met on a network. she was very nice to me until she asked for my resume that i call back if i don’t hear from her. i left 2 messages and sent her emails and the bitch would not even respond. that’s how unprofessional these people are. if they think they won’t be able to market you, you get treated like a piece of shit.

post your resume on monster and careerbuilder and they will contact you. but follow your gut feelings. they will talk ice cream and chocolates just to get a copy of your resume then you end up an “inventory”.

I’m sorry BusinessMinded, but I don’t know who you are and I don’t know why you would be interested with my headhunter. Are you looking for a job because I already told you what you need to do. There’s a very obvious reason why I can’t share you my headhunter. Getz? Sorry but I can’t give you your request. Too blatant for an unknown person.
