Balik tayo sa Social Climbing Lessons mga kabisyoooo!!! As I’m sure you party all the time! You go to nice bars! You’re dressed very 1st world in a turd world kawntri and all you order is ………. ta-dannnggg! “Margarita, please!” Huh?! Hallerrr!!! Whenever I am in some swanky bar in Makati or The Fort at naririnig ko na ang order eh mga ganetch? Mga konyoooooooo!!! Social climbersss!!! Hahahaha! That’s why people order beers. Why? It’s the safest choice. Agree?!
I love beers. My favorite? San Mig Light, Heineken and Pilsner Urquell. But I stay away from beer because I get pregnant in no time at all, kahit na wala namang humalay saken. So, I stick to mixed-drinks. Syoktong on a lambanog mixed with red bull topped by avocado. Ganun. Don’t try it. An sagwa nang lasa. Pramis.
But if you’re dressed impeccably at some glitzy bars and you’re not drinking something that would match your level of mga pag-ku-kunwaring sophistication at mala-aluminun na inglis sa tigas, sasampalin kita pag katabi mo ako! Hmpt!
Well, Dahil reader ka nang mga kalintekan nang reyna, you’re gonna learn something from me today which I also learned sa kebigan kong ispiritista. Yeap, she’s a spirit expert, read: lasenggera. Sya si Matilduh.
There are two (2) main categories of spirits mga kunichiwa:
1.) Whisky
2.) Brandy
Simpli lang intindihin mga kabisyo.
If you ferment grains – me beer ka.
If you distill that beer – me whisky ka.
If you ferment fruit – me wine ka.
If you distill that wine – me brandy ka.
If you ferment dilis - patis yon! tanga!
Easy di ba? Beer and wine lang actually sya.
So, dahil mga alcoholics kayo, mag-tatanong kayo, eh saan naman nakasaksak yong cognac, scotch at bourbon?
Napakasimple lang nyan mga ka-kosa. All of those are places. Mga lugar lang sila. Kaya wag mag-mamayabang yung ka-inuman mo noh?
The worlds most famous brandy eh gawa sa isang lugar in France called Cognac.
Bourbon is a type of whisky made in America.
Scotch is a type of whisky made in Scotland.
Ngayon, para mapa-bilib mo ang kainuman mo, eto ang big bang – there are 2 main kinds of Scotch
1.) Single malt
2.) Blended
Ano yun? Tatanong sila.
Young single malt kaya ganun is made from one distillery. Glenlivet is an example.
Yong blended is like Johnny Walker. Eto ang mga whisky which were mixed and matched na galing sa iba’t ibang distilleries.
Ngayon, how do you drink them?
Sip it baby! Small sips! Wag lagok! You gotta take your time. This is not something na tagay-tagay.
You wanna be more classy on a whisky and brandy? Fruit kabisyo! O kaya chocolate. Yang ang i-pares mo! If you are drinking scotch, whisky or brandy taz ang pulutan is balut penoy, mani or chicharon bulaklak, pramis! Kahit wala ka nun, tutuliin kita pag nakita kita!

Nice one. Occasional drinker lang ako and normally, I order the usual or as recommended. Have you tried aged beer? It’s really good. Dati nung may wine lounge pa sa Enterprise Center, my former boss would bring us there - inom ng vintage wine, imported beer, aged beer, chika to the max, etc. tapos libre nya (ka-sosyo kasi siya doon). Ako naman siyempre pag libre, go ako
tapos listen-listen sa mga wine ek ek nya pero listen lang kasi wala naman ako datung para mag-collect ng mga vintage wine noh!

i always try imported beer just for the heck of it, kasi i always compare it with San Miguel, alam mo naman, yan ang aking standard. sa imported, pilsner lang talaga gusto ko other than tsingtao and german beers.
sa wine? mga basic lang na alam ko, eh kasi minsan yong mga bago ayuff parang mga alcohol sa tapang hehehe so far ang current fave ko is shiraz from chile, eh kasi tong kebigan ko binigyan ako heheheh

yong chocolate na may liqueur like ko yon kaya lang minsan yong nabibili as in liquid talaga yong nasa loob, ayaw ko ng ganun. May natikman ako dati parang truffle yong filling pero may alcohol

i had that, bigay ni Chuva the last time na he came back from Germany. chocolate sya taz liquer pala ang laman sa loob as in ang sarap talaga! hahaha! pati yung dapat ibigay sa kebigan nya, nilaon namen hehehehe

di ba ang mahal naman nang regalo mo? hahaha! which is why sikat ang Johnnie Walker na pang-regalo sa Pinas di ba?
pero eto ang sikret para makamura hehehe ginawa ko na to at garantisado! hahaha
pag dating namen nang Manila, go sa Duty Free, buy nang pasalubong. dahil andami nila sa barrio siete, pag dating namen nang Legazpi City, go kami sa Barriada hehehe sell sila nang local na JW, taz tatanggalin namen ang blue seal di ba? ilalagay namen sa karton na galing US, pati yong duty free na plastic tapon na yun, para alam nila na galing US. O, di tipid! hahahaha!
kaso, nalasing kami nang pangkin ko… nahuli ako nang aking pinsan hehehe nagalettttttt!! bwahahhaa

naranasan nyo po ba na ang mga binibigyan ng pasalubong ehh nagkumparahan sa mga kapwa may pasalubong tapos meron pang tampong nalalaman ehhh kesyo si ano mas maganda o mas ganire o my gulay talga! kaya ako uniform lahat ng pasalubong or mag tago nalang hahahha

nacurios tuloy ako sa fvorite mong beer na pilsner saan gawa ‘to parang wala yan sa mga bars dito sa isla…corona at heineken ako pero pag sa pinas san mig din mura na masarap pa!
interesting lecture here kahit memorize ko lahat ata ng alak dahil sa letseng monthend physical inventory sa hotel dati pero wala akong paki saan o paano ginawa…

hahaha! i discovered pilsner urquell in pilzn, hungary in one of our international trips nung nasa biz school ako. masarap sya, parang na-remind ako nang san miguel beer. pagbalik ko sa US, wala akong makita pero now, meron na sila pero konti pa lang and they don’t sell it sa bars, kasi lately lang nila inayos ang distribution nung nabili sila nang South African conglomerate ata.

kahit computerized ang inventory may physical counting pa rin for checking. Yong point and shoot na yon - data logger with bar code reader para lang hindi mo na isulat ang description that is kung bar-coded ang items

hindi pa nauso ang point n shoot na yan sa mga dubai hotels..sina suggest namin to dati sa fin. director namin, payag nman pero pagdting sa GM ayaw i-approve ang kuripot kasi! kaya sa 3 years ko sa cost control sawa na talaga ko sa kabibilang ng alak tapos madaling araw pa…

Madalang na ako uminom kahit ayaw maniwala ni malentot.
anyhow tayo lang ata mga pinoy ang mahilig magtagay at lumagok kasi daw the psychology is ayaw daw natin magpalamang sa kainom natin. kaya pwersahan, kahit di ka tumatagay, mapapatagay ka. o kung gahaman ka sa alak, para di ka makalamang at fair ang consumption, tagayin.
may natutunan na naman ako sa yo lalao na yung patis hahaha OO nga naman!

i’ve never been in an inuman na tagay tagay kahit na pag nauwi ako sa Tiwi or that i guess wala na akong makitang nag-tatagay sa mga napupuntahan ko. di ko nga alam na uso pa rin ang tagay tagay, pero takot na ako dahil who knows kung anong mga laway yan ahahahah

i hate grapes kaya hindi ko ma-acquire ang sophistication to drink wine. ang nato-tolerate ko na wine eh mga white. basta red, naco, di carry ng panlasa ko.
beer drinker lang din ako. nalampasan ko na ang phase na hard ang iniinom (nung bata pa ako nun). hindi na carry ng katawan ko ngayon.

nga pala, this reminds me of one of my instructors back in college, nagjojoke siya about a story related sa cognac, and he pronounced it kognak! Nagtinginan lahat sa klase, tas biglang may nagsalita sa likod, sabi, “Ano daw, Kognak?!?” sabay tawa. LOL. Ewan ko lang kung niresearch ni sir ang tamang pronunciation after.
