My brother and his family were vacationing from San Diego, California when I was home last month (May 2008). They decided to check out of Mandarin in Makati because of the outrageous price. As in hallller brother!!! Kelangan pa bang imemorize yan?! Since they couldn’t take the hotel price in Makati and the heat in Manila, off they went to Batangas. Ok, the truth is, tinatakbuhan nila ang relathieves namen. So, we drove up to Batangas one day to visit my brother and his family. As usual, dahil walang navigator ang lola, nangawala-wala ako. Hmpt! Ok lang, naka-ka enjoy namang mawala.
Why? Eto.
There’s no denying that we Filipinos have a knack for naming name or anything at all. I guess, that’s part of our very humorous approach to almost anything. So, when I was back home in Manila last May 2008, it was again another chance to see some of the naughty, funny and uberly smart names you see as business signs. Nakakatuwa talaga.
- Babalik Karinderia is in Santo Tomas, Batangas. Pramis, masarap daw sya.
- You been to Ermita? Dun meron silang The Other Office. Check nyo mga husbands ninyo. Baka pag sinabing I’m working at the Other Office eh talagang iba ang tina-trabahu.
- Dun lang nga same sa Pasig, I know City na ang Pasig and is one of the busiest metropolis na sya, kaya pati meat shop nag-bago na at ang tawag eh Meatropolis.
Isa syang laundry shop.
- Kahit na sa San Juan, namamayagpag din ang laundry nitong isa na ang tawag eh, Talk Dirty To Me!
- Sa Baguio? Meron silang Goto Heaven.
Don’t be surprised.
