Special Edition Press Inc., the premiere Filipino event organizer On the Eastcoast USA, is proud to add another service to the Filipino American community and will present the 2008 Pinoy Musik Festival — a two-day celebration and showcase of the of Filipino music!
The Pinoy Musik FestivalTM will put on a Filipino entertainment extravaganza never before seen in the East Coast. Capitalizing on last year’s successful Pinoy Musik FestivalTM in Atlantic City, it returns bigger and better! Moving to a new venue, the event will be held at the Meadowlands Exposition Center (MEC) in Secaucus, New Jersey on May 17 & 18, 2008.
The Pinoy Musik FestivalTM is envisioned to showcase Original Pilipino Music and provide an avenue for Filipino musicians to penetrate the mainstream market. It aims to provide a bigger stage where they can display their talents and their music. By exposing them to a bigger audience, we hope to widen the reach of the Filipino music.
The Pinoy Musik Festival presents an incredible opportunity to reach not only the matured audience but also the younger generation of Filipino-Americans in the Northeast. The Filipino-American market consists one of the fastest growing and most affluent consumers in the United States with an annual purchasing power exceeding $52 billion! Personal interaction with the consumers continue to be the most effective marketing tool today. We will work with your company to achieve your marketing goal when you participate in this year’s Pinoy Musik Festival.
Major features of the Pinoy Musik Festival:
1.SONGWRITING COMPETITION FINALS
The Pinoy Musik Festival SONGWRITING COMPETITION was launched in Manila, Philippines last December 15, 2007 and will end April 15, 2008. The 5 top winning entries who will be awarded cash prizes, will be interpreted by select Filipino American artists in the US at the Pinoy Musik Festival on May 18th and will be produced into a CD to be marketed in the US and in the Philippines along with 11 more qualified entries. Response has been overwhelming and we are happy to have initiated this as another service to the Filipino people. We will pursue this new endevour as extensively as we have done with Philippine Fiesta.
2. SPECTACULAR LIVE CONCERT
Each day on May 17-18 will be capped by a spectacular live concert featuring top-rated Filipino artists from the Philippines who are best in their fields and have huge following both in the Philippines and in the USA led by the very popular tv, recording and movie heartthrob and golden boy SAM MILBY, the award-winning MYMP quintet who performed at blockbuster concerts in Manila. This group injected new life to the timeless hits everybody love with their acoustic music of soothing melodies, KRIS LAWRENCE, whose singing from the heart has won him the title the “Heart of R & B”, aptly given to him by his colleagues in the industry and from his audience; and PORKCHOP, the unbeatable comedy duo who have made their audience roar with laughters for more than a decade now. All put together, the audience of these artists, needless to say, will be accross the spectrum from young professionals to the more matured ones.
3. SEARCH FOR THE TOP FILIPINO BANDS IN THE REGION
When we talk of music, we will have to include the bands. Leading to the event, we are doing 2 elimination rounds in 4 places around New York and New Jersey to select 3 winning bands who will compete for major prizes at the festival. Genre will be limited to soft rock, R&B andpop original compositions. Judges are “authority in music” personalities.
4. VIDEOKE COMPETITION

Over 400 Filipino American organizations in the region were invited to send in their representives. The winners and the organizations they represent will receive cash prizes and cash donations, respectively.
