SATURDAY: April 19 - I slept at around 4:00am and only a few hours sleep. My cousins arrived from New York. We have visitors from Sydney, Australia. I was supposed to drive them to Washington, DC today. It’s now 9:06am, I found a driver. I’m staying in Philadelphia. I am now on JOURNAL 17!!!

SATURDAY: April 19 :9:32 pm Visitors arrived from DC, they’re going to downtown Philly! Vodka, beers and tequila at home! I am staying home! They’re annoyed! Hahahaha! JOURNAL 33!!!
I love this tag by my ever beautiful sweetheart Pusang Maganda. She asked me to go through my archives and bring out all of my lipstick and makeups and every controversial toys that I hid in my baul that either made me famous and glamorous or notorious and ugly. Well, I dutifully obliged with “Ma’am! Yes Ma’am!”:
1. Two (2) entries that made me famous and notorious!
a.) Desperate for Philippine audience! On Desperate Housewives
b.) Are we under martial law in the Philippines? On Boy Bastos
There were actually a number of these, but I chose these two (2) entries. Now, depending on which fence you are sitting, these entries gained me a lot of popularity and exposure, one of the most quoted articles I wrote and gained me a lot of blogfriends, it was unbelievable! I wasn’t expecting the good and bad publicities that came with it. Interestingly, these entries likewise, gave me a lot of notoriety that I was lambasted by a good number of bloggers in Manila where I gained a lot of enemies. I was awarded a lot of insults, jeers, name-calling and ridicule, of course partly because they found out that I was pretty! hahaha!!! It was as if these issues were reserved for them only, for the graduates of some well known universities in Manila, and that if you’re not in their circle, you’re irrelevant and what you say is plain bull. There was even a call of people power to rally against me. It was that nasty. But, lo and behold, I did not realized that there were a lot of bloggers in Manila which would come out with some very strong support for me, I was flabbergasted. As a blogger based in the United States, far from what’s happening in Manila, I was sooooo surprised. Yet, I do am very thankful to all these bloggers who supported me.
Incidentally, these entries gave me a perfect window of opportunity to understand the mentality, the attitude and the strategy of some of these self-proclaimed so-called successful bloggers in Manila. They could really be blatantly nasty, arrogant and if they’re not brown Filipinos, I’d call them racist. Some of them are really desperate! Desperate for popularity, desperate for traffic, desperate for attention, desperate for internet fights, desperate for who is the more self-righteous, desperate for who is the best of all the best, desperate for awards, desperate for friends in high and low places, desperate to be a who’s who in the what is not, desperate to be on the front page at the back, desperate to be first in hell.
I call it dog-eat-dog. Bottom line? Fame and fortune on the internet including the so called power that comes with it. Is this a Filipino thing? I don’t know. What I know is that, it’s getting crowded in here. Some feisty competition and re-alignment of powers going on. Social climbing to a different degree. I would like to defy that culture. Blogging life and earning money online can be fun, less the dog eat dog.
2. Ang cyberspace, pinasok na ni Inday.
I had no idea that this entry will shoot up to stratosphere! I had no clue what to write that day until Bea forwarded me a forwarded email bizillian times. I posted it. It made history. It would soon be the launching pad of Inday. And no, I am not Inday’s Manager. But I was glad to be part of Inday, although I don’t see my name on the credits. Wow! Me galit yata si Inday saken ah? But, I had a lot of fun with this entry. Everytime I read this, I giggle. So, even if Inday forgot his lola, ayos lang Inday. ~~shot pa nga ng tequila!~~ *hik*
3. Pinay Scandal in Baguio City
From the brilliant SEO mind of Macuha.com, I’m telling you, it pays to social climb with Marhgil Macuha! Hahaha! I love this post and I certainly had a great time putting them all together. I discussed this with Malen when were having some drinks along Session Road in Baguio City. When she said to take a picture of her drank (she never drinks alcohol by the way), I thought, it was perfect for the idea in my mind. And then, we took another shot of me holding Charlie’s hand from under the table, while I was lovey dovey with my errr… uhhh… “best” friend. It took me forever to come up with a story until Malen said that she’ll take a picture of me in Burnham Park in a pensive mode. Boom! I didn’t tell her what I had in mind. Flying back to the US, I wrote the story on the plane, lest I forget. I was laughing all the time, my seatmate thought I was going nuts for that 12 hour flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis. When Charlie posted his Pinay Scandal, his entry came in a right time and it was just perfect. So perfect that today, this is the most searched, the most read, the most viewed, the most of all the most. I could not believe it! I do read this all the time and each time, it brings me a lot of smiles. Buang na yata ako. Buti na lang sport na sport yong tatlo! Hahaha!
4. That look could mean he is interested with you!
I’ve had a lot of funky, crazy, weird and funny experiences on any life category I’d say. But this is one of those darn classics that I will never ever forget. Why? Because there was the rush of something, of something na ewan ko ba! I can’t explain that rush, that certain excitement. I know, this did not get enough comments like those popular post, but you have no idea, I probably did not get a good night sleep the entire week just thinking about what happened here. But anyone who read this entry, I always get an email about how crazy I was hahaha!!!
5. The Face behind the Crown! The Crown that won’t fit the face!
Finally, it all started with a simple meme from DOM Lawrence. Oh my gosh! He did not stop! Hahaha!!! It was never my intention to come out. I was fine with the alter ego I have online. That was her, this was me. This meme thing! Pasubo! But I did not realize that I had so many readers who misread the Da Reyna Code. Hahaha! Guys, you have no idea how I was laughing so hard every time I read comments and emails na minumura ako because they were not expecting that Reyna Elena was truly a shoo in sa Miss Universe! Hahaha!!! Mukhang maton lang nga ang panga! Hahahaha! One of them was Manilenya who was really annoyed at me! hahaha! and the other one was Kotseng Kuba. There was even one reader who lambasted me with some fiery comments that I should be ashamed of myself because I was such a wrong role model for Filipinas and I should correct myself because I was getting popular. I could not find where he left that entry. But Kuta was having a great time with that comment nag-second da motion pa ang lokaaaa!!!! Aaahhhh!!!
6. Crazy Things Happen When I Take Off My Crown, Part 1 and Part 2
Interestingly, last weekend in UK on Future Radio, Dr. Joy asked me how I came about with the name Reyna Elena. I said, it came from the word “Queen” which we as gays were always being stereotyped. Kesyo we’re only good sa parlor, manikyurista ever and all that. Not that those are demeaning work dahil andun actually ang pera. So, to make fun of the stereotype, Queen=Reyna. To make it catchy, I added Elena. Reyna Elena, *toink* That was it! Yet, I am not your typical gay guy ladies and gentlemen. Except for my occasional shriek na ilang beses akong nabubukoW, at talagang tumitili ako ever hehehe, I am sooooo totally straight-looking you will never detect any Da Vinci Code in me. This is why a lot of my straight friends were very comfortable with me. And this is also the very reason why ladies come up to me at the bar, buy me drinks and even invite me to their flat. Ang ganda ko talaga. Ever! It doesn’t stop there!. Women could sometimes be blatant with their feelings towards me. I know I am equally handsome as JFK, Jr., admit it people! Or else I’ll block your IP!!! And this has happened to me many times, whether I am in a bar in Philadelphia, Prague or in Manila! But there were two incidents that I enjoyed the most. And I had a blast writing this one. Whenever me and Matilda gets together for some drinks, we laugh like crazy about what happened.
So now, I am tagging the following people to go through your inaamag na bauls and everything and pull out either your treasured entries, controversial entries and if you can’t find any, just post your naked picture. That’ll be good enough. HAHAHA
1. Mandaya Moore, because I know she’s a prolific writer in her own right! I honestly wanted to see her write books on gay stories and be a millionaire. Her punchlines always elicits laughter. She always makes it work that it looks like it’s easy. That’s what you call talent.
3. Malen, because there’s something in that nosebleeding that charms people.(Exclude all those reyna elena posts please in your list! Hahaha!)
4. Bluep, because this should be New York Times columnist had a good mix of horror, religious and controversial entries that stirs that part of the pinoy blog population! hehehe!
5. Beng, because those pageviews are absolutely unbelievable! Can’t you make us beautiful too??? Help Beng! Help!!!
6. Kiks, because he’s got a different charm that cuts across amongst the “we are family”.
7. Empress Maruja, because she’s very talented. To gain some top rankings on her own is something that one should appreciate from her because da gurl worked it out with a lot of fine talent of creativity, originality and more importantly, passion for blogging.
