One of the things na napag-usapan namen ni Joy on Usapang Pinoy at Future Radio in UK was the fact nga na most Pinoys are still wanting to escape the ridiculous economic disparity sa aten mga kabisyo. I know for a fact na ilang bloggers na who frequent Reyna has sent me emails on how to get to the US, Australia or Singapore. At a rate na halos kokonti na lang ang value nang dollar, I thought I would search and find where the most value nang Peso. I’m not saying na this is one single reason why people leave, rather, it’s really how to support families back home, pursue other opportunies or pursue others na meron nang others. And like what I said on air, America continues to magnet a lot of would be immigrants, Filipinos included and it’s probably the opportunity that America gives, so it might not necessarily be the value of money on top of the list. Maybe its the lure of meeting the pretty Reyna Elena.
I remember several years ago mga kabisyo, the exchange rate then was about Ph56 to a $1. Nag-sisi ako, nilustay ko ang kayamanan ko at walang saysay na tinustusan lahat nang kaartehan ko! Grrrr!!! Of course, you already know my dysfunctional love money life. Andyan yung pinar-nis ko apartment nang syota ko. Nung napar-nis, ibinahay ang syota nya. Andyan yung pinautang ko nang puhunan ang boylet #12 ko, taz nag-iba nang address. Marami sila. Wag na nating kalkalin. Nasasaktan ang pitaka ko. Akala ko kasi, forever together ako sa ganung rate. Ano sya ngayon? Just look at how much is the Australian dollar now!
And if you check the Canadian dollar, di lang sya parity sa US dollar, nilagpasan pa nila!
Pounds? Mayaman sila mga kunichiwa!!!
Bahrain? Kaya an daming mga Pinoy sa Middle East, eh!
Euro? Walang sinabi ang dolyar namen.
Even in Hongkong, there are a lot of Filipinos out there!
And in Malaysia?
And China?
And you know how much na lang ang dollar namen?
But all these conversions really would not mean anything and should not really be used as gauge kung saan ka pupunta. You have to look at so many factors, like magkano ba talaga ang bigay sayo? How’s the culture? How far is it sa Barrio ninyo? Me mga gwapo’t magaganda ba sa lilipatan mo? Me lambanog ba sila? Me mga gumigiling ba para sa mga lalaki naten? Me bundok ba nang tralala para sa mga gurls? Kaya ka bang habulin nang mga babaeng iniwanan mo sa Pinas dun? Magkano magpa-manicure dun? Me dyip ba sila? Sa subdivision na titirahan mo, me barangay tanod ba?
So, mababa ang palit sa China, but does it necessarily follow na just because you get Php5 in China and Php100 sa Bahrain, fly ka kaagad sa Bahrain? Nor does it follow na mataas sa UK so dun ka na? Remember, standard of living might eat up all what you earn. Bottom line is, it’s not really how much you earn, it’s how much you save and provide to your family back home as well as sa future mo.
So, given the chance, would you still go to work in America?

Ang rason talaga why I wanna go to America is para makapunta sa Disneyland at makatikim ng niyebe. but to work there?
mag tya-tyaga na lang ako sa 40K na sweldo ko dito tsaka 40K na kinikita ko kay Ka Pepe.

nakakasama ng loob di ko man ng naranasan ang mag $50 ang pera ko kelan kaya….wawa nga barangay ko sa barrio namin kahit anong kayod ko d2 kulang pa rin (ako rin wawa) kanina nagpagas ako ano ba yan inabot ng $50 ang dating $43 na fulltank. d2 rin dami nagrereklamo mahal na ang lahat! ang galeng mo magexplain klaro, swak!

Lagi kong sinasagot ito sa mga blog. Migrating is not for everyone. It should also align with your life’s goals and objectives.
No, I will not migrate at this point but it’s always a consideration. We are at the peak of our careers and financially, there is no guarantee that we’ll earn big bucks in other countries and even if we do, 25-30% will go taxes. Life here isn’t that bad kahit walang pork, regulated ang alcohol at praning ang mga drivers.

May alcohol naman, kuha ka lang ng license at kailangan medo discrete. Di pwede na ibabalandra mo na bumibili ka ng alak. Di pwede maglalakad ka sa daan na susuray-suray o magdrive kapag nakainom. Sa mga hotels meron din alcohol.

If I had the choice, yes. America is not just a country, it’s a state of mind. Then again, I am biased.
I wouldn’t even want to live in the MidEast. I gotta hand it to the OFWs in Saudi. They have to live under such tyranny. You can’t even have a Bible or a Rosary! Don’t even think about having gay sex! Haha!

ako? di na ako pupunta ng US kung may business naman ako dito sa pilipinas. yes, mahirap buhay dito but at least i have no worries about discrimnation or anything.
kung may mga padulas (grease money) sa gobyerno, it’s just a normal thing. ah ewan, praktikal lang ako siguro but hey, even in other countries may corruption din naman.
in short, mag ti tiyaga na lang ako sa pilipinas.
aalis lang ako kung i re reto ako ni joy or reyna elena sa lugar nila. ahehe. ikanga, if love is the reason, then may that’s a good reason. lolz
hay… gutom lang siguro to… nvm .^^

I think you have it quite right na it’s not how much you earn but how much you save and can send back to your family that actually matters. Kung halimbawa e sa singkwenta mil na kita mo e 10k lang ang mapapadala mo sa Pilipinas e it’s not worth that much. With a little luck and a great deal of patience e kikitain din naman dito yong ganoong halaga di ba?
One of my uncles who live there put it this way: dyan daw sa US, yung kikitain mo for one day e makakabili ng pagkain for one week. Dito naman sa atin, yung kikitain mo sa isang linggo halos pang isang araw lang na pagkain. Doon nagkakaiba. Kung sana nga e ganoon din ang mangyayari sa Pinas e di wala na sigurong mag-aambisyon na makapunta dyan. But they would miss one good thing: hindi nila masisilayan ang beauty ng Reyna…lol…

dito lng ako sa Pinas, mura dito eh, at tsaka milya milya naaabot ni ka pepe dito, hehehe. Tsaka yoko na ng winter…gusto ko life ala boracay, hehehe, ol d time. At sako sako png dahilan….dito na lng ako. Kikitain ko din dito kikitain ko dyan….hehehe dahil ke ka pepe, ki mr G, atbp…

Nalagay ko na dati sa blog ko ang view ko jan. A lot of the people here sa amin think that America is the best place to be in. Yun tipong wala ka ng proproblemahin sa pera. Pero the thing is kahit saan ka pumuntang lugar may kanya-kanyang problema sila. Masaya ako dito sa pinas kasi dito ako lumaki. Mahirap ang pera sa taong iniisip eh mahirap ang pera. We can still work here and live within our means, depende sa atin kung paano natin gagastusin yun pera naten. Kung hindi natin kaya huwag bilhin. Huwag din mangutang para lang bumili ng bagay na sasagot sa whims natin. Madami akong friends sa states hindi lang mga pinoy kundi mga puti din talaga. Pareho sila ng mga sinasabi na sa panahon ngaun hindi na ganun kadali ang buhay doon. Dito na lang ako sa Pinas kasi may mga non-traditional means naman of income tulad ni ka pepe. Hindi pako malalayo sa pamilya ko.

Ayokong bumalik sa Pilipinas. Ano namang ibo-blog ko pag nandun ako, yung mga alikabok at trapik sa kalsada? E lahat na ng Pinoy alam ‘yung, common na common na. Hahaha!
Pero seriously, mas gusto kong sa Pilipinas nalang. Atleast gamay ko lahat ng pasikot-sikot mula sa mga kalye, sa bilihin, sa pag-iingat sa magnanakaw, sa pag-iwas sa mga addict at sunog baga na sa isang maling kilos e laslas ang bituka mo. Pero kung wala ka namang ikauunlad tapos puro kurakot ang mababalitaan mo, mas mabuti na atang makipagsapalaran nalang talaga sa ibang bansa. And when I say ibang bansa, I mean Asian country (except China). Siguro Singapore o kaya Japan.
Hindi lang naman trapik at alikabok ang nakakasawa sa’tin, nakakasawa ang pagiging mahirap. LOL! kaya tama si Jojitah, gusto ko rin maramdaman kung pano ba ang feeling ng mayaman. Gusto kong maranasan kung pano mang-alipusta ng mahihirap hindi ‘yung puro ako nalang ang minamaliit. Hahaha!
