Project: H.E.L.P. Basilan
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
How much do you know about Basilan? I know what’s on your mind. It’s not something positive, is it? You don’t even have to tell me. But you see, whether we like it not, the people of Basilan are our brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers, regardless as to whether or not they are Pinoy Christians or Pinoy Muslims and they have continually suffered from man-made calamities. Fact of the matter is, Basilan is one of the poorest provinces in the country.
But there’s a group of good-natured Pinoys who have dedicated themselves in helping Basilan rise from the ruins of political, social, cultural and emic uncertainties. Let me introduce them to all of you.
They are:
They are the founding officers and members of the Basilan Island Development Association, (BIDA), Inc. and first on their agenda: Project: H.E.L.P. Basilan.
SM North Edsa Bingo Center kicks off their first fund raising activity on March 15, 2008 to raise fund for BIDA. It is an on-line bingo game participated by 8 other SM outlets in Metro Manila. SM North Edsa will donate an initial of 2,500 tickets @ Php100 each. BIDA gets a net of PHP20 per ticket sold for the project. Should the event become successful, SM North Edsa might be able to make it their every payday special…. meaning every 15th day of the month can be given to BIDA for the Project: H.E.L.P. Basilan.
Think about this mga kabisyo… you are reading this because you are one very lucky and successful Pinoy soul out there. Wag ka nang tumawa because that is the truth. Now, how would you feel if you could help one great province be successful one day just like you? It will be one great social climbing feeling that you could be very proud of.
Wherever you are in America or Canada, you maybe in Europe, South America, all over Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Philippines, let’s all support a great project called simply: Project: H.E.L.P. Basilan.
Find out how you can help! Send an email to the following:
By the way, the Vision for BIDA (see link below) was written by Babes Cajucom. She’s an educator more than a businessperson who set up her small humble colleges in Zamboanga City in 1990; in Isabela City, Basilan in 1997 and in Lamitan City in 2005. She’s a former professor, the UST Faculty of Psychology in the College of Science where she taught for nearly 8 years.

Reynz, as an OFW at malayo sa ating mahal na inang bayan, at least as Bloggers or tru the Internet at pagiging active sa cyberspace, we have our own way of directly helping out our kababayan in our own humble way. Na yong pagkukulang ng ating pilipines governance eh natatapalan natin kahit paano at sa maliit na paraan sa ating maliit na advocacy to help out the not so privilege fellow Filipinos.Ric Mactal saw the hard life of the people in Basilan, which are mostly are coconut farmers and this is the reason he is trying to help them out tru this Project HELP Basilan.

Froi,
I always believe that things happen for a reason. There was a reason why I became a brod (although sisterrette na ako) in the fraternity. There was a reason why you and I met through Reyna Elena and with Ric Mactal, I really hope we could make a differnce in making the lives of these poor coconut farmers and it really doesn’t matter to me if they are Pinoy Muslims. They are still family.
Indeed, let’s capitalize on the technology. If all of us can make Basilan be great, heck! I’m telling you - it will be a great great social climbing feeling ever!!!

Of course I know about Basilan. I used to run workshops for free for public school teachers in Luuk, Sulu. I became friends with the congressman and he is such a fantastic guy!
We all help in our own way. Remind me to advertise this on Usapang Pinoy, ok?

Are you talking about Congressman Abu Bakar? Yong na assasinate sa Batasang Pambansa? He is our brod in the fraternity (di ko na sasabihin) from the Sigma Chapter. Our fraternity (EEEKKK! Sorority na pala ako!!!!) advocacy is Leadership, Friendship (kaya nga social climber ako eh) and Service.
Impressed naman ako sayo! You went to Luuk, Sulu to do that? That must be very nice! Kaya naman pala you are sooooo blessed!!!

HI PUEDE BANG MAKISALI,
May I introduce myself to this Blog? Si IBNO ang may kasalanan nito ha at si Froi, kasi ibinigay sa akin itong Blog na ito.
This is HER ROYAL HIGHNESS QUEEN BEE OF BASILAN, AND UNTIL NOW I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE ROYAL MASSAGE. IT LOOKS LIKE I ACTUALLY HAVE TO GO TO BASILAN to SEE THE BEAUTY OF THE PLACE.
Let me see if I have enough time to do just that, my time here in the Philippines is running out, and I have not even dented my project yet. May writer’s block daw. May recipe ba kayo ng BASILAN para maisama ko sa ANITA’S KITCHEN. Actually the HER ROYAL HIGHNESS QUEEN BEE OF BASILAN is just a cook.
Thanks,

GALING PINOY, TULONG PINOY
I think it’s about time to do private initiative as the government still studies or plays with the “equitable distribution” of the national budget and the homebased politicians span their reign by all means.
BASILAN had been victim of so-called media entertainment and men- in-uniform aggrandizement. We can’t be forever watching news being sensationalized to gain benefit for gov’t budgets for weapons procurement that goes to some pockets, etc.
We have many lahing Kayumanggi who made it big in other countries and may have wanted to share a little to one of poorest provinces in the country – BASILAN in our quest to weave PEACE through development.
Your own stories bring hope to us that one day more Filipinos will make it to the top and we’re getting there. Imagine ang sunud-sunod na honor na binibigay ng mga Pinoy — in the academe, sports, music, sciences etc… May hope pa talaga! Truly this is a country, not just of beautiful people with good values, not just a place worth a thousand praises for it’s beautifull places but also home of great talents, skills and intelligence!!!
Mabuhay lahat ng Pinoy sa buong mundo! Winners talaga ang lahing kayumanggi! However, take a moment to help Pinoys back here rise up from our political ruins. Support Project H.E.L.P. Basilan.
Health/Education/Livelihood for the People of Basilan. We are a group here with strong vision for the island who have sacrificed our own lot and making a difference out of other people’s lives. Please join us. We are sick and tired waiting for the government’s promise of HOPE. If things works here, we can help other islands in the country to rise by joining our hands together as one people.

Babes,
Thank you for visiting the site. No worries, we’ll do our best to help B.I.D.A. on this great Project H.E.L.P. Basilan. It’s about time that someone start cleaning up that name where a lot of negative connotation is already attached. Basilan has nowhere to go but rise above its current state and it would be such a privilege for Filipinos yearning to help and assist that part of the population left behind.
More power!

Hi Reynz and all,
Thank you very much for picking up a very noble project.
WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!

Best regards to all!
