Denver Broncos team history runs like a great movie itself. First, the Broncos were named after the wild horses in Colorado. They are known for being the very first AFL team to ever beat the Detroit Lions back in 1967. This is also the team to have a black place-kicker in the name of Gene Mingo, the first to have a receiver with 100 receptions by Lionel Taylor and the first to have a starting black quarterback by Marlin Briscoe.
They were considered the lowest team then. Their first ever winning season was in 1973 after thirteen years of nothing. They almost lost their franchise in 1965 if not for a local group who took it over. Then, they reached Super Bowl six times and winning it in 1997 and 1998.
Today, the Broncos are famous for their quaterback John Elway who publicly said that he is joining the New York Yankees unless he is traded to other teams and one of which was the Broncos. He would then fire the Broncos through five Superbowls and end his career at the MVP of Super Bowl XXXIII, his last game.
Elway continues to be very popular with the crowd voicing their loudest ovation whenever his name is mentioned.
