Stranded Overseas Filipino Workers

Good morning to all prospective and aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers! I have a message to all of you via our friends from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and elsewhere in the Gulf States.
Our sources is telling us that these Filipinos were hired through a licensed recruitment agency in Manila to work with one of the security services company in UAE as security personnel. The terms and conditions of their employment in UAE were discussed with them and were all signed by concerned parties.
Our sources in the Middle East were also telling us that before they left the Philippines, they were told that it was not necessary for them to bring any money since the company will provide them everything. Convinced with the promise, these Filipino workers just had enough money on their wallet.
Apparently, the terms and conditions discussed with them back in the Philippines were not the ones implemented when they joined the company since June 2007. They claim that they were asked to sign a new contract a few weeks after their arrival. Accordingly, if they didn’t sign the contract, they can then go back to the Philippines at their own expense.
Essentially, the new contract was now completely different from what was promised to them and what they have signed back in the Philippines.
From what we were told, the email claims that original labor contract agreement were signed by all parties in the Philippines and stamped by the Abu Dhabi based security company management and gone through the normal process with the government agency in Manila.
To date, they claim that:
-
They filed a complaint against the security company with the proper agencies in UAE.
-
Their immediate families filed a complaint with this government agency in Manila which did not honor the complaint since these complaints have to be filed by the OFWs personally.
This news was relayed to me by email by one of our loyal reader, Mr. Manuel Garcia Fuertes who works for Abu Dhabi National Hotel Company who agreed that his name be published.

hi reynz, as what we always do in helping the filipinos in need esp who are in trouble, I, myself, always make sure everything is really true and not just coming from because someone said it or most of the people said just like that before sending it to the concerned people. And I would highly preferred to be contacted directly or contact the person directly. And since the matter has already reached the concerned people such as the Phil. Embassy / Consulate and Ministry of Labour of the UAE, including the company where these ofws are working, as much as we would like to help these ofws, we would like to protect the welfare of the rest of the newly hired OFWs in that company while they are currently connected with them so we didnt release the necessary documents via email that have been submitted to the above mentioned authorized people. Yes, it is very clearly stated in their complaints about the alteration of the contract which is almost 100% are not followed inspite of everything went in legal binded way and approved and verified by the Philippine Embassy, Abu Dhabi and POEA before these newly hired employees came to the UAE, which served as an assurance for these newly hired ofws before leaving the Philippines. But for these ofws, all the things they thought done in a proper and legal way back from the Philippines became like just only a drawing…where are the Phil govt people who can protect their welfare as ofws….? they havent violated any rules as far as being recruited directly from the philippines…these ofws can provide you necessary approved papers…thank you

Reynz, I’ve a brother in Saudi whom I haven’t seen for the past 10 years…and yes, I was told of stories such as above…

i noticed that the e-mail writer is also connected with a recruitment /staffing agency.
What’s the guarantee that this is not competition-motivated demarketing strategy?
