United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to adopt standardized employment contracts

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to adopt standardized employment contracts and other measures aimed at protecting foreign workers, including Filipino workers, from exploitative recruiters who merely exact money from them, the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said Monday.

UAE’s Ministry of Labor (MOL) was ready to adopt:Electronic employment contract and verification system which would stipulate standard key provisions on salary, leave benefits, and airline tickets, among others.

Contract would be signed electronically by both the employer and the foreign worker if the latter agreed to the terms of the contract.

The system would be linked to the Ministry of Interior and Immigration, responsible for visa issuance.

The system will eliminate contract substitution and reprocessing of contracts since UAE companies will be required to obtain approval from the Interior Ministry for their labor requirements and individual visas or work permits indicating the name and specific job title of the workers they intend to employ from abroad.

The contracts to be approved by the MOL could be viewed online to further ensure that signed contracts could no longer be changed.

Also:

UAE would also issue mission visas in lieu of visit visas to address the problem on visit visa holders seeking jobs in UAE.

A new UAE law would be passed penalizing companies and employers who employ visit visa holders.

Kelangan pa bang imemorize to?

Would-be OFWs are warned against dealing with unscrupulous agencies enticing them to work in UAE with visit visas only as they might find themselves jobless and in a sorry situation in that country.

Would-be OFWs should deal only with legitimate recruitment agencies and to verify with the POEA any job offers from UAE.
Recruitment agencies which are merely collecting money from OFWs should not be allowed to participate in the recruitment of OFWs to be deployed to UAE.

Why? E eto nga:

Many Filipinos who want to work in UAE go as tourists and end up jobless and homeless in a foreign country.

Women usually resort to prostitution in their desperation.

Piktapos?

Iiyak and will cry foul. Tandaan… you are in a foreign land. Understand that you have rules to follow. Their rules.

What do you think? Ok ba tong rules na to?

narinig ko na sa isa kong pwend two months ago na maghihigpit nga daw sa dubai dahil sa dami ng pinoy na pumapasok dun using visit visa

i’ve heard a lot of these stories “Many Filipinos who want to work in UAE go as tourists and end up jobless and homeless in a foreign country.” kaya for me ok yan rules na yan… it will protect our kababayans in some ways, wag lang me manggoyo sa ibang pinoy na kapit sa patalim para malusatan yan

i agree, i’ve known some cases na kapit-patalim na halos ang ibang bagong saltang pinoy jan dahil nasilaw sa sabi-sabing madali makahanap ng work basta nandun ka na. yung iba ni walang kakilala basta sisibad nalang dun, tipong bahala na si batman. yung iba kala may kakilala na nun pala isa gahaman yung akala nilang tutulong sa kanila.

proteksyon narin yan. mabuti na yung sigurado ang gobyernong may matinong mapupuntahan ang mga pinoy bago pakawalan ng bansa. otherwise, baka mapahamak lang at magkakandarapa na naman yung ibang politiko jan sa pagtulong kuno as long as may media exposure. mga leche!
