And so, there were five.

I didn’t realize that it was tough to deliberate on the entries, especially the slogan. All of the slogan are equally representative of what the OFW represents, except for one big fan.
And so, here are the five finalists!
Oopps! Sori! Walo pala sila!
Yes, given that these are all the entries that we received, they are all finalists in themselves. We are currently deliberating on each one of these entries at the moment. Unfortunately, we’re back to square one because everybody seems to hit the mark.
So, why don’t YOU tell us why Entry # so and so should BE the winner for the LOGO and for the SLOGAN. Judge them separately. You can hide your personality, I won’t tell anyone.

Logo is “sacred.” It should represent something. Every element, every image, must mean something. Logo should be VERSATILE. For example you resize it to 1×1 inch, the image details must still be recognizable. It should be versatile enough that if you turn it to black and white, it will still have the same impact. Some of the high-impact logos have 2 to 3 symbols.
Example:
Microsoft: it’s just a 2-word combination meaning small (micro) and software (soft). Generally, affordable software…software for the masses. Bill Gates aimed to put a computer in every home.
Windows: it’s just plain image of a window…meaning, a window to the world…a window to new opportunities…a window of etc., etc…
Coca-Cola: “Thinking that “the two Cs would look well in advertising,” Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, suggested the name and penned the now famous trademark “Coca-Cola” in his unique script.”
http://worldsbestlogos.blogspot.com/search/label/CocoCola
It’s not just the meaning but how the slogan is presented in an easily-remembered play of words.
see other examples…
http://worldsbestlogos.blogspot.com/2007/08/adobe-systems-logo-history.html
With these criteria, I vote for slogan and logo #1.

to anonymous,
thank you, that was nice. However, did you also check my criteria? (It’s in here: http://reynaelena.com/2007/09/05/project-ofw-logo-contest/)
“The whole idea is simple. Create a catchy slogan and a sleek logo that captures the spirit and best expresses and exemplifies what an Overseas Filipino Worker is all about.”
Given these criterias I set out, how would you rate them?

@Logo is “sacred.†It should represent something. Every element, every image, must mean something. Logo should be VERSATILE. For example you resize it to 1×1 inch, the image details must still be recognizable.
have you tried resizing all of them and see that if the logos are still visible even if it shrinks into a dot? Are you insinuating that the rest of the logos are not sacred? should the contestants put crosses and wings just to make it sacred? or are you just saying it because you want your logos to be sacred? LOL and by the way.. logos for web design are not measured in inches but in pixel LOL
@Some of the high-impact logos have 2 to 3 symbols
Not all High Impact logos are beautiful in the eyes. No matter how many the symbols are still if they convey something to the readers they would still be meaningful. don’t tell me that microsoft’s logo is beautiful because it isnt. and please this is not a multinational company… bolahin mo lelang mo!
@It’s not just the meaning but how the slogan is presented in an easily-remembered play of words.
Ms. Alpha-Numeric, this contest has a specific criteria na sinusunod. at yung criteria mo ay hindi kahit kailan pwede. Mag-papangap ka lang, halata pa. Kilala kita, kitang kita sa construction ng words at sentence mo kung sino ka.. do I have to compare comments? I can’t believe this. you will do everything just to be above others. just let others talk would you? let the people speak at hindi ganyan ka na nagpapanggap na anonymous well kitang kita sa use of words mo kung sino ka.
This contest is not about money. This contest is for unity and sportmanship and the fact that the Queen set a standard and criteria…
All of the criteria you mentioned above are for corporate puposes, for advertising, for PROFIT AND MONEY!!! this contest is none of the above. that’s why your criteria does not apply.
nakaka-disappoint ka Ms. Alpha-Numeric… ang tanda mo na ang dumi mo pa rin maglaro… sa internet pa lang ito, how much more sa totoong buhay? I deny mo man kung sino ka, pihado ako lahat ng makakabasa ng comment mo iisa ang magiging conclusion sa identity mo. And I will bet my clitoris on that! Try me.
THUS, WITH THE QUEEN’S PERMISSION, LET ME MAKE MY VOTE….
I VOTE FOR ALL THE LOGOS EXCEPT LOGO #1 AND #2.
ANY LOGOS AND SLOGAN THAT ARE TAINTED WITH MALICE, DECEPTION, AND GREED IS NOT WORTH REPRESENTING THE OFWS. ANY LOGO WILL DO EXCEPT #1 AND #2
BILI NA KAYO NG TUPPERWARE!!! I BET AFTER THIS DENY TO DEATH ANG ANONYMOUS O SI MS. ALPHANUMERIC! VERY PREDICTABLE!
AND BY THE WAY, YOUR LECTURE ABOVE SUCKS AND OUT OF CONTEXT.. DUN KA SA COCA COLA SUMALI!!!

Aren’t we, OFW’s, the tough ones who braved going to foreign lands in search for greener pastures for our families back home?
My vote for logo is a toss up between 3 and 7. These are the two entries that IMHO captured and exemplified the typical OFW - a Filipino who is willing to go and endure the pain of being separated from his family hoping to help give those at home a chance to have a better life…I’m leaning more towards #3 though.
For the slogan: Most of the OFW’s didn’t have a choice as to the actual place where they will get a job. We just know the country but the exact job location within that country isn’t definite until the last minute. MOst OFW’s too that I know of, don’t know what their “job assignment” will be when they go abroad - alam nila sa restawran or bahay pero kung busboy, waiter, tagalinis, etc…di alam. Still other OFW’s would be waiting for months for a call from their agencies and/or recruiters to tell them of their schdule for departure. So, sa slogan, iisa lang choice ko from the start: Okey Fine Whatever, Wherever, Whenever!!! Yan ang totoong OFW, malakas ang loob, ready to go for it given the opportunity - whatever, whenever, wherever! Tindi pa ng recall…
I also like #1, creative siya, kaya lang parang nanunumbat… parang negative ang dating ng luha… To me, di nya na capture ang essence nga pagiging isang OFW.

As far as I remember, ang last comment ko eh nung nag-sorry ako.
Anyway, I learned that I have to rejoice always and not to complain.
For the sake of peace in this site, I am withdrawing my entries. I care more about my name than the prize money. I am not guilty of any of your accusations. And I don’t like war. Let peace begin with me.
Hindi ako marunong mang-away. Di ko kaya ang taray nyo. I’m leaving this site for good.
For all the good friendships, thank you. For those that only do harm, thank you.
Inang, I am sorry to end this way. If you still want to meet with me when you come back, just give me a call. You know my number.
Masakit ang iwan ko ang site na to dahil dito nagsimula ang magkaroon ako ng online friends like Bea, JC, Ros, Kuta, Diwa, Chuva and Pazing…and syempre ikaw.
Pero for peace’s sake. Goodbye.
Anyway, to all my friends, expect to receive an email from me and you can email me too anytime.
Again, thank you, Reynz, for the memory forever etched in my online life.
Sa payong tayo magkita.
Mabuhay sa lahat ng mga OFW. Kayo ang talagang hero ng bansa natin.

What anonymous has said about the vector graphic is right. Every logo should be prepared using mathematical calculations so it can easily be resized without altering the shape and the colors.
Yes, it can be converted to raster graphics as in digital image or a collection of pixels and the result would be the same whether it is thumbmark100x 100 , or the forum size of 640 by 250.

As I have said in my previous comment, I am just a lurker and reader here. I love to read the real life hilarious stories that you are sharing because it makes my day at my very hectic and crazy office. I’m still here and leaving work in a few minutes.
I can’t help noticing the furious comments on your contest. But reading them gives me the same conclusion that one contestant caved in from her very own doing and I am surprised you Reynz did not bother to hit back with the “walang buto” comment. The comment was a little bit absurd. But I wished she did not withdraw because that is a lousy sportsmanship.
I don’t like #1, it’s very negative, but the recall factor of #2 slogan is good and yes, I checked the logo on the entrprenuer and it will be a toss who copied who. I like OK Fine Whatever, excellent recall factor. The rest they are very long and very common and Bayani is very overused word. I like the #2 logo, but Reynz be careful with copycats. To me, it’s #3 and #7.

2. ol for wan, juan for all
masyadong tipikal, parang logo sa tabloid, masyadong provincial.
3.taas noo
bakit kasi kelangan mag-siksikan?
7.ok fine:

9 I heart: dapat special mention to! hahaha pero di sya pede
10. pinoy world class: or lagyan naten nang comma like this: “Pinoy, World Class!” di ba gumanda sya? ano tingin nyo?
Good luck po!!!
