Di man tayo Largest, daig naman natin sila sa Fluency at Elocution natin in using the English language. We are indeed one of the best English-speaking race in this world. PERO ang hindi nyo siguro alam, laluna yung mga pinoy na hanggang Pinas lang ang narating, ONCE a Filipino steps OUT of the Mother Land and INTO a Foreign Country, WALA ng sasarap pa sa tenga mo KUNDI amg makarinig ng taong nagsasalita din ng TAGALOG, lalot Pinoy din ito, kahit na pareho kayong CEO ng malaking kumpanya, HINDI KAYO mag-iinglisan or French, maniwala ka magta-Tagalog kayo pareho, Becoz O N L Y Tagalog or Other Pinoy Dialects that are common to you COULD Bring Back and Connect YOU to Everything that you are. In a Strange Land, sorrounded by foreigners YOU will react NOT with your ears, but with your Heart upon hearing Tagalog. And THAT .... is a FACT.

and you should really learn to speak properly yourself before stating they're wrong. "it proves that Filipinos 'do' speak English..." " 'As' a matter of fact..." "they cannot just mention about that.they are making Filipinos feel melancholy" ???????

point is, you're just proving their point. their point was most Filipinos do not have the linguistic competence to be given proper status as an English speaker. and oh, grow a mustache, learn some English, then we'll talk.

i agree... with most of it.

however, i disagree with the postulation that we "had our own identity". we never really did. *
first of all, the Philippines was an archipelagic nation, with diverse and individualized cultures before the colonization. walang "Pilipino" noon. so kelan nagkaron ng mga Pilipino?

PARAGRAPH ONE

in the daily papers (not on)

English (capital E)

worse (not worst)

English (capital E)

at a basic level (not on)

I will not continue. The authour of this has English skills well-above average for the Philippines and yet it contains numerous errors.

I am an English man and work as an English Language Specialist. I lived in Makati for 21 months and can say for certain that not everyone speaks English even at an Elementary level.

However, I am not suggesting that they should. The myth that everyone in the Philippines speaks English is similar to the one that everyone in Hong Kong speaks English and that everyone in Singapore speaks English.

The Philippinmes is a great country with warm and friendly people and numerous languages of your own. Be proud of that.
