How to find employment in Canada
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
If you’re an immigrant, getting acclimated to your new place could be overwhelming. Trust me, you’re better off checking the definition of culture shock because it’s going to hit you big time! Especially if you’re flying from the islands called the Philippines to a huge country in North America called Canada! O! Canada! I’ll give you two week to enjoy Canada, because pretty soon, you’d be hitting the roads to look for a job.
You should feel lucky because there’s this site Now Hiring Canada, a truly local Canadian job search. It’s not monster, it’s not careerbuilder but it’s purely about Canadian employers looking for Canadian workers. You search through the posted employer’s information on their website, learn about the company and learn about what’s required for the position that they’re looking for. It’s that easy. Plain and simple.
Not only is it easy, it’s also free registration, meaning the service is of no cost to you. It has a lot of local information that you can find about who is hiring and what is happening in your employment sector or industry. Because employers regularly search their database for qualified candidates, you have a better chance of getting an interview and landing a job. If you’re busy enough, you can always subscribe to their “Jobmail” service.
So, welcome to Canada!

Hello Reynz.
We have an immigrant application to Canada, it’s been going on for 2 years now. We’re a family of 5, my eldest is 17 yrs. old. My husband works in a multinational company as VP-Finance, me, a life insurance agent, i work part time only coz i have to attend to my children’s needs.
Okay naman ang buhay dito sa Pilipinas kung kami lang mag-asawa, pero sa sitwasyon ng politika at pamumuhay ngayon, parang hindi na magandang ma-expose ang mga kabataan. If not for the sake of our children, we will choose to stay here.
Wala pa namang approval from Canadian Embassy pero ngayon pa lang nagdadalawang isip na kami kung sa Canada ba or USA. My husband has relatives in California, pero kung makikipagsapalaran kami sa US, he’ll have to go there on a tourist visa or maybe working visa if his aunt can get a job offer for him, is it possible? Or easier if he goes on tourist then look for a job and apply for a working permit once hire? May I solicit for your advice

NGEK! ngayon ko lang to nakita Tita Wee! Soreeee! hehehe!
Tita Wee,
I’m not very knowledgeable about this stuff, although the only thing I can relate are stories from friends that I know. From what I hear at base na rin sa experience nang mga cousins ko who immigrated to Canada, it’s easier to go to Canada than the US.
Kung pupunta naman husband mo here on a tourist visa and find a job, I don’t know much about it, honestly. I heard so many sad stories, yong mga nagtago, esp now na medyo mainit ang immigration sa mga undocumented aliens. Pero kung possibility na makahanap nang work? Pwede. Madami namang makukuhang trabaho dito pero makikipagsapalaran ka lang. Mahina ako dito sa immigration stuff Tita Wee talaga. Sorry.
Kung kami are doing our best na bumalik nang Pinas, kayo naman are doing your best to get out. Di ba medyo ok na ang buhay sa Pinas and wid you plus your husband na VP, you must be doing ok. Malungkot dito Tita Wee. Ma shock ka sa medyo bulateng culture here. Although di naman lahat masama.
