Listen to their music! SinaGlaya Band

by Rainier on June 24, 2007

I love getting and reading emails from pinoys all over the world! And I swear, I respond to them one by one. I have another special email today from some very aspiring group, headed by an Overseas Filipino Worker based in Singapore. They have a band!

I’d like to introduce to you all SinaGLaya. Sinaglaya stands for Sinag ng Kalayaan. According to Froilan, a term coined by his brother upon seeing a character from a short and old tagalog folklore story.

And here they are ladies and gentlemen! The SinaGlaya Band!

The members of their band are:

  • Vocals: Zedrick Santos

  • Lead Guitar: Renan Natividad

  • Rythm Guitar: Froilan Bulaong

  • Bassist: Roland Claro

  • Drummer: Atty: Noel Bulaong

Banded together for nothing more than the love of music, they decided to write, compose and sing their own brand of music with some very nationalistic touches in it. They sing about Filipino social issues advocacy and simply, promoting friendship through their music. They’re a family, yeap, where most of them are related with each other by blood.

Froilan (whom I believe is the leader of the band) is a son of a former OFW who spent 20 years in Saudi Arabia as an accountant. Following the footsteps of his dad, he went on to become another OFW himself. Experiencing the difficulties of having an OFW dad, and being an OFW dad himself to his kids right now, and seeing all of the social issues affecting most OFW’s, he was insipired to write and compose songs that he wants dedicate to all Overseas Filipino Workers worldwide. (Pucha! naiyak yata ako!). If you want to follow and learn more about Froilan, follow this link.

They have already composed 3 OPM Pinoy Rock songs:

  1. Bottom’s Up MO Pare Ko – A song more on Friendship among Pinoys.

  2. Ang Puno ng Niyog – Reggae,  an advocacy song dedicated to poor Filipino Coconut Farmers, and yes, they support Virgin Coconut Oil products!

  3. Bayani kang Talaga – an OPM Pop Rock Song that is a tribute to all OFWs worldwide.

If you might have noticed from the type of songs and music I plug in here, you’d have a pretty good idea as to what kind of music I like. I do listen to rock music but no as much as some of you - but listening to this one is really something. I like their brand of music! And I think if you listen to it, you will be able to relate.

HERE’S THE MUSIC

Listen to their music: Bayani kang talaga!

Congratulations to Sinagtala! I really wish you success! Thanks for the email and I hope once you get to be successful, kantahan nyo kaming lahat! :-)

If you want to find out more about the Sinaglaya band, email Froilan at bulaong@gmail.com.
