Michigan removes qualifying exams in hiring foreign nurses

Michigan Governor Jennifer Ganholm has signed into law a bill which removes qualifying examinations conducted by the US Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) for nurses from the Philippines and other countries who wish to work in the state. 

“Isn’t this news a GREAAAT NEWS?! I hope the rest of the states ov Estados Unidos follow suit! And to all my nurses who are just lurking in this site? The results of the latest board will be posted here and why am I following the results? I expect my nephew to place number wan. At pag hindi, he has to reimburse all expenses paid.  I expect the results to be sometime in July. O, magdasal dasal na kayo at pag me nalaman akong nan-daya dyan? Kukurutin ko mga singit nyo!”

Pacquiao takes college entrance exams

Determined to earn a college diploma, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao went to the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU) here on Wednesday afternoon to take an entrance exam. Pacquiao expressed interest in taking up AB Political Science. Tan asked Pacquiao, “Are you ready now to take the exams?” The champ smiled and replied “Yes.” Tan escorted him to the guidance counselor’s office. Before they parted, Tan tapped Pacquiao in the back, saying, “Good luck.”

“Pucha naman! Kala ko ba ni hindi raw sya nakatapos nang high school? Ba’t na-accelerate too fast to college? Sino na namang nang-uulol sakin ha?! Looks like Manny Pacqui has some long term goals of politics at ina-ayos na ang resume ha? I’m sure the President of NDDU will not accord him special treatment! He He He! Baka na star struck yong Presidente, mamya nyan Doctorate na yong binigay? Huling tanong = SINO NA NAMAN KAYA ANG NANG-UTO SA KANYA” AB Political Science ha? He He He! I’d love to see Manny Pacqui in one of those Senatorial debates!”

Borongan of Eastern Samar becomes city

With the ratification of Borongan’s cityhood, its IRA will increase from the present P70 million to P240 million or more annually. Borongan’s annual income is only P55 million. After the cityhood celebration ended at 3 a.m. on Thursday, the first day of city life was relatively quiet because of a power outage.

“Power outage agad? Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!” Reminds me of Barrio Siete. We had power outage in 1960. Hanggang ngayon, wala pang power.

China plans highway on Mount Everest

China plans to build a highway on the side of Mount Everest to ease the Olympic torch’s journey to the peak of the world’s tallest mountain before the 2008 Beijing Games, state media reported Tuesday. Construction of the road, budgeted at $19.7 million would turn a 67-mile rough path from the foot of the mountain to a base camp at 17,060 feet “into a blacktop highway fenced by undulating guardrails,”.

“Now, this is GOOD NEWS. I know there’s a lot of Filipinos who trekked to the top of Mt. Everest, but I would like to be the first to be on top of Mt. Everest with my “Owner”. Anybody who wanna come wid me?
