Hmmm… he he he! I like what you saw! It’s not the right answer but it reminded me of the case about a sign:
Private Property No Trespassing Allowed
So? Nag-tresspass yong lalaki and went fishing.
The owner of the property sued him for trespassing.
Case was dismissed.
Why? Sabi kasi nang defendant, he read it as:
“Private Property? No. Trespassing Allowed.”

hehehe inang, “epal” is an expression po. ito po ay isang salitang-kalye. napansin ko ang mga gumagamit niyan ay yung mga teenagers dito, yun bang mga katulad ko ang edad whehehehe. matagal ko na iniisip how it originated. but i can only think of one thing. palagay ko lang po, it came from the expression “pagpapel.” kasi kapag masyado kang pumapapel, “epal” ang tawag sa yo. sometimes, it could also mean, “nagpapapansin.”
i have never used the expression, though. but whenever i hear it, i get curious as to how it originated and at the same time i get amazed at how these young people invent new words.

It is a slang for ‘papansin’ from the word ‘papel’ (role). Yan ang itinawag sa akin ng frends ko nung hindi nila inienterteynment yung mga mesij ko nung nag-confe kami.
