Something startling is happening in my dear homeland, the United States of America, my freedomland. What is it? Bleep will soon be the word and the music. It’s now the broadcast media’s rule to bleep the following word:

It all started with CBS firing Don Imus from his radio program, following a week of uproar over the radio host’s derogatory comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. Remember the term? N_*bleep* H_*bleep* H*bleep*.

Then, today, CBS network fired two “shock jocks” over an on-air slur against Asians, US media reported Monday, weeks after another radio host was sacked for making a racist remark. The hosts of “The Dog House with JV and Elvis,” Jeff Vandergrift and Dan Lay, had been suspended earlier as the broadcaster decided their fate. The show was permanently canceled after the two placed an on-air order to a Chinese restaurant for “slimp flied lice” and compared food items to certain parts of the body on April 5. After the prank call was broadcast, the Organization of Chinese Americans, an advocacy group, had blasted the network and demanded CBS fire the hosts.

Not to be outdone? XM Satellite Radio suspended shock jocks Opie and Anthony for 30 days Tuesday, one week after they aired crude sex comments about Condoleeza Rice, Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth one day after they made light of the incident in their broadcast. “Comments made by Opie and Anthony on yesterday’s broadcast put into question whether they appreciate the seriousness of the matter,” Washington-based XM said in a statement. “The management of XM Radio decided to suspend Opie and Anthony to make clear that our on-air talent must take seriously the responsibility that creative freedom requires of them.” Opie and Anthony, who last week apologized for the sex comments, struck a more defensive tone on Monday’s broadcast. They lamented the state of radio and what they perceived as excessive reactions to comments made by themselves and other radio disc jockeys.

Ok, I guess we all should start learning sign language!!!

Na-alala ko tuloy yong girl dun sa ASIAC in Philadelphia. I used to attend their non-profit programs and there was this Filipina (don’t know if she was born here in the US) but I know she gets so pissed whenever she is referred to as an “Oriental”, dahil hindi naman daw sya Oriental Rug, so we used to *bleep* the “O” word.

I also remembered nong mega-travel ako all over the US of Ey. I travelled to Alabama and Chatanooga, Tennessee in the middle of white county. Those people there at the radio station just dislike me for unknown reasons. They call me “Little Jap”. Little did I know that I was supposed to be mad and angry as hell dahil racist daw yon! Kerrr ko? Wiz ko naman knowing, humahalakhak lang ako whenever I get called “Little Jap!”.

So, in our Bleep Country? Everyone is getting so sensi-sensi!
