This post is dedicated to Patrick. Who is Patrick? Well, I wish ligawan nya ako. He He He! But he’s a lurker at kinukulit ako. Now, I don’t know baka FBI ba sya or what? But naiinis na because I would not answer his question and here’s the thing, I normally would take a photo or capture the email and post it para evidence na me sumulat talaga, but this time, nothing because ayaw nya raw makilala yet. Siguro walang ginawa mag-internet sa opis? So, as is usual with this site, sinasagot ko lang ang email nang isang engkanto here.
Luckily, I could have just send him the link because I actually posted this one on my other blog. That site, well, kelangan ninyong mag-english, else palalayasin kayo nang sikyo doon. So, Patrick and to everyone else, here’s a little bit about me.

I was a junior internal auditor. *Bow*
Straight out of college, finishing Accounting, I received a job offer from one of the biggest auditing firm in Manila, a member firm of Coopers & Lybrand, now Price Waterhouse Coopers. I was very excited! I took the offer. I officially became a junior auditor.
I worked in Makati. I loved it! It’s a really nice city. Considered the Wall Street of the Philippines, Makati is just an unbelievable city. I’ve been to a lot of places in the world, and I could tell you this, Makati is a world class city! I had some really, really great times in this city. Even better, I enjoyed working with my employer! Mostly because the people I work with, were one of the nicest people I met! I guess I was just very lucky.Â
I love working with our clients. I remember working at Holiday Inn at Roxas Boulevard, those people there were the most worderful people I met. The food was free. We have a room for free because we always work way past midnight and honestly, I didn’t care! I could work for that client for the rest of my life!
I love being an auditor. You instantly get some respect. Your clients looked up to you. They treat you differently. Nicely different. You get treated first class. You get a lot of perks. We get to be treated to dinners and lunches all for free! That was then! But those are nothing compared to the fact that I get to meet new people. Developed excellent relationships with them. Some of them even became my very good friends. To me, those were some mastercard moments!
I was assigned to a group where most of the clients were outside of Metro Manila. The ones that were in Manila were Holiday Inn, Victory Liner, Westin Philippine Plaza, Â Mandarin Hotel, and the smaller ones were just right around the Makati area.
Since most of our clients were outside of Manila, I had the chance to travel to places like Baguio, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, Davao and my favorite city, Cebu. I would have never had the chance to see these beautiful places if I did not work for this accounting firm or was not assigned to this group. This is the part of my job that I really enjoyed the most. Not only did I get the chance to meet new people, get to know their culture, but I get to to places I would never imagine, simply because I don’t have any disposable income for travel. I was earning dirt cheap as a junior auditor!
We have a lot of clients in Cebu. Our favorite hotel at that time? Magellan Hotel.  My favorite client? Visayan Electric Company. One of the managers there at VECO became my very good friend. We instantly hit it off as friends and would remain friends for a very long time! It’s too bad he lives in Cebu and I live in Manila. I moved to the United States since then, but we remained good friends. Except, I lost contact of him after he told me that he will be laid off.
I remember working in Cebu City for about six (6) long months. I don’t remember now how many times I went back to Cebu to work with our clients. By the time I returned to Makati, I was already speaking Cebuano!
I love the people at VECO. They were just extremely nice! I still remember Mang Maning. He invited me and my friend from VECO to his house. I got to meet his wife and his kids. He gave me a sumptous dinner, then after that, we had some drinks with his neighbors. Wasn’t that great? I was treated by Mang Maning as if I was an old, old friend. That was really something special!
Those are the perks of my life as a junior auditor in Makati. I miss all of those mastercard moments. I just wish they happen again.
