Do I specify my asking price sa resume?!

To all you out there looking for a job, the question becomes, should you specify a salary on your resume?
Eto na yata ang pinaka-tricky that can either get you an interview or no! Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay? Kelangan bang ilagay????
Well, others would say, if you think the company that you’re applying for will probably ignore the number, why put it? Di ba? My preference is that you shouldn’t include it. Get in the door first. That’s your goal, di ba? All these salary negotiations can come during or a some later interviews.
So, anong susundin ko? Naloloka ako Reyna?! Feel mo anak. My suggestion is don’t put it in your resume. Rather, feel mo yong interview then bring it up, except kung talagang it is explicitly being asked dun sa form that you were filling up. Eto reason ko ha?
1.) Get yourself in the door - When the company puts out an ad for a position, trust me, there is a number there. They have a certain salary in mind. Kaya, if you specify something out of that range sa resume mo? chugi ka! baka ma-reject ka agad! You did not even get to the 1st base! But if you wait until during the interview process, baka pwede mo silang digahan. Just wait for the appropriate time.
2.) They ask you for an interview because they like your resume - In my opinion, once you have them glued to your resume, you’re in a much better position to negotiate your salary. You’re there for an interview because they want you based on what you wrote on the resume and they have already started to picture you in whatever project they have in their mind. You are just going to have to pump up the stuff that you wrote. Remember? All those keywords?
3.) You might not get the salary but they offer great benefits - Ok, so you didn’t get the salary. Well, sometimes there are other rewards from a job that can be just as good. Vacation time, 401-k or pension benefits, health benefits, paid sick leave. Fine, free air-conditioner or heater at free elevator, dagdag mo na. However, if you put a salary on your resume and then you got rejected, you’ll never know what that company could do for you. Di ba? The point is, you won’t know unless na you catch them thru your resume and you get to talk to them. Makes sense?
To summarize, ang punto ko is this:Â Worry about your asking price later. Get in the door muna. Look good, feel good, speak eloquently and impress them. Simply put, sell yourself first. Once they liked the product, which is YOU, then negotiate for the price. But you will find out about this not until they talk to you. And you know, you never know what will come out of these interviews.
