Can you guess what each country is doing for their own citizens? You think OFW’s should start asking for US help? It’s just an idea.
Convicted US Rapist: Transferred to US Embassy
Smith was transferred to the US Embassy last week while the Court of Appeals was weighing his pending appeal to be transferred to US custody under the terms of the US-Philipppines Visiting Forces Agreement. Interior undersecretary Marius Corpus said Monday he has been assured by top security officials of the US Embassy that convicted rapist Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith is confined to a 120-square-foot “detention room.”
AND WHAT ABOUT OUR FELLOW OFW’S?
While the clock ticked toward the New Year, more than 100 Filipino domestic helpers sought refuge at the Philippine Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, awaiting their transfer to the Lebanese Emigration Detention Center where their cases will be heard.
Beginning this month, the Philippine Embassy will be turning over to the Lebanese government custody of Filipino workers who had run away from their employers for reasons that included maltreatment, molestation, nonpayment of salaries and abominable working conditions, the Philippine Daily Inquirer learned over the weekend from a well-placed source in Lebanon who asked not to be identified for security reasons.

The government finally did the right thing which was obviously what they should have done from the start. It was stupid Pozon who made a mistake…If he found Smith guilty eh di pronounced nya na lang sana na guilty as far as his court is concerned, wala syang jurisdiction na magbigay ng order as to where idedetain dahil sakop yan ng provisions ng VFA grrr… kaya asar ako sa decision nyang si Pozon, nagmumukhang bobo tayong mga Pilipino!!!
Talk about the domino effect – cancel Balikatan 07, withdraw aide sa mayon victims… ngayon at withdraw ng US ang tulong sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo sa Bicol, bakit di pumunta doon si Pozon pati na yung powtang si Nicole at maghukay ng mga bangkay dun! Ngayon at cancelled na ang Balikatan ’07, may magagawa ba yang mga powtang yan sa mga Jemaah Islamiya at Abu Sayyaf na naglilipana sa Mindanao, LALO NA SA ZAMBOANGA AT JOLO NA BAYAN NG NYETANG YAN? Kanino ba hihingi ng tulong ang Pilipinas laban sa China na nagtayo at nag operate ng military facility sa sariling bakuran natin? Remember Spratley Islands? Hello…anlaki ng military facility ng China na itinayo dun ano.
Yung mga nagrarally against US, bakit di nyo nakikita ang lupit ng middle east countries sa kapwa natin OFW’s? Wala ganung maltreatment dito sa America! Bakit di kayo mag rally against Saudi, UAE, Lebanon, etc? Bakit di kayo mag rally against China at mga chinese na nagdadala ng mga fake goods sa Pinas na pumapatay sa economy natin? Pati sa mga intsik na di pa nakuntentong mag smuggle ng drugs sa Pinas, nagtayo pa ng shabu factory sa Pinas mismo!
As to the OFW’s in Lebanon, kawawa naman sila pero di naman VFA case ito eh so tama lang na turn over sila ng Philippine embassy sa authorities dun…hopefully susuportahan pa rin sila ng ating embahada.

Ayoko nang balikan yung discussion natin last year…. Baka kasi sabunutan at kalbuhin mo ako at mawala lahat ng buhok ko sa ulo….. (biro lang…). Tita, mainit yata ang ulo mo nung mag comment ka… feel ko ang nag-uusok mong ulo…..
May mga comments and question lang ako tungkol dun sa sinabi mong “Domino-Effect”.
First, I thought the word “Tulong” means to help people in need, or “bukas palad” or “kusang loob” without any expectation of any returns or favors. I thought it is purely humanitarian? I have no grudge whatsoever with the US government (cause I do live in the US), however, what is US trying to prove by withdrawing their help to people who are afflicted by natural disaster? I mean, the last time I checked the “Smith Case” has nothing to do with the natural disaster; it is not a cause-effect situation. I have noticed many times US government did this kind of game…… Are they trying to keep us “in-line” making sure that Philippines know who the “BOSS” is? Are they trying to say that Philippines should consider what US might do, before taking actions political or not? I’m just absolutely confused and aghast on why they would pull-out of humanitarian help because of a court case. Political mayhem between two country should not be a hurdle to people who are in need. Let me ask you a question… Mare, kung tumutulong ka ba nag hihintay ka ng kapalit? I’m sure bukal sa kalooban mo kung tumulong right? So what’s the difference.
Regarding Spratley Island… I know China stake the claim on that island, and you know what, Philippines could do nothing about it. We are not ready to go and declare war on other country specially China. As far as I know, we did ask US to mediate between the two countries, however I believe US does not want to get involve.
On Middle East issues…. There are rallies that went on, but the media is being very selective when it comes to what to show and not. Apparently when the word US is in the headline it sells……
In Lebanon… my heart goes to our kababayan, and hope that thing would turn around… only if our embassy start working and quit giving lame excuses….

Hmmm – I think Speak is giving out clues on who he is… if I am right, and Diwa can attest to this – I am pleasantly surprised. I must have underestimated who Speak is. Vast knowledge of current events is something that I would not have expected from him. I used to think he’s all air, pero teka – may laman yata ang mga pinagsasasabi. I will keep on guessing but I believe my hunch is right. Keep up the interesting conversations here. I must say, never judge the book by its cover – dahil laging mali.
Speak – I do agree with your position on humanitarian aid. Why help if your intention is to run the country? Why would the US use their aid as a ransom to someone who has committed such a crime? VFA agreement or not – the US should not have used such ‘help’ be their bartering tool. It gives me the chills! Is this the start of the New World Order?
