Updates: Kudradong Advices ni Reyna Elena

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

UPDATES:

I have been in a back to back email with Kate. I’ll check if I could share all the nitty gritty details and salacious emails we’ve been having to each other. He He He. She’s one fun lady to email with. She’s a researcher at the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Unfortunately, the piece on OFW that they’re writing will be in print edition and not online! (KATE HA! NATANSO AKO! TANDAAN MO, MERON AKONG KINAKALAWANG NA KORONA ENOUGH NA MATETANO KA!)

In any case, once it gets out of print, I’m sure, Kate will send me a copy so I could share it all to you guys.

Now, the Filipino Newspaper in Israel launched by one of our dear readers has an article of Reyna Elena as well. I think it’s titled “Kudradong Advices ni Reyna Elena”. They will have a debut publication sometime soon. I’m still not sure about the readership if it covers the entire Middle East. We’ll know soon.

I have to beg off on the Canadian newspaper. Mawawalan ang Reyna nang panahon magpa manicure at pedicure. Importante yon. He He He.

Geezz… I wonder where Kudradong Advices ni Reyna Elena ends up? Maybe on Oprah Winfrey Show? CNN with Larry King? A one on one meeting with the Queen at the Buckingham Palace? Hmm… Ok lang kung dun na lang sa Mutya Ng Pasig.

Bed and Breakfast

As you all know, I live in East Ortigas. I met a number of hyphenated-Filipinos there. One from London who owns two units, another from San Francisco, from the Middle East, from Tokyo and New York. Like me, they don’t live there 365 days a year. They go visit. But I’ll share to you all an exciting new kind of business na napagkwentuhan namin?- well di na to new actually, dahil this is a transplant of European Hospitality. Mas mabuti nga dahil as very hospitable people as we are, this could be adapted and refined some more sa ating mga ka-kwelahan di ba? It’s called Bed and Breakfast. And this is very timely dahil kulang na kulang na ang ating mga hotels especially if you are in Cebu, Bohol or Bicol.

Checking new templates

I am getting a number of emails that they can’t post comments on the pages here.?Wordpress really set it up like that, of course, information is important, so they control it. Unfortunately, my dear readers suffers the brunt. And so, I am thinking of either going back to blogspot where it’s easier to post comments or I might have to check out other templates available out there. So in the next few days, if you notice some switching changes, that would be me trying to test a few templates around.

However, you could continue to send your comments by email to ofwcenter@gmail.com?and thank you for all your support and love!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I was pleasantly surprised this morning to get an email from my most loved site to read (O di ba?!), it’s the Philippine Daily Inquirer! I didn’t notice that THEY NOTICE. Whadyathink? Should Reyna Elena be unmasked now?! Is this the time? Well, here’s the email:

From: Kate Pedroso kpedroso@inquirer.com.ph
To: ofw@ofwcenter.com
Cc: ofwcenter@gmail.com
Date: Apr 24, 2006 4:40 AM
Subject: recommended investments for OFWs

24 April 2006

Dear Sir/Madam:

Good day!

I’m Kate Pedroso, I’m a research assistant for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. I am currently writing an article about the investments OFWs may look into here in the country. This is for our newspaper’s new section, Global Pinoy, which focuses on our OFWs.

I came across your site through the gov.ph forum, and I noticed you had a lot of ideas to share to our kababayans who may want to engage in business here. In this light, I would like to ask if I can e-mail you a few questions and also ask for your CV, so I would know how to attribute information I will get from our interview :) Your site approaches the issue in a very practical manner, which I think is really helpful to those who are “searching for answers” :)

The main goal of my article is to put together a list of possible investment ventures for our OFWs. I plan to look not only into franchising ventures, but also in other investments like real estate and stocks.

Hoping for your positive response.

Sincerely,

Kate.

APOLOGIES to those who wants to make a comment and could not login to Wordpress. You may send your comments to: ofwcenter@gmail.com. I’ll post them in here.

Don’t Quit

“DON’T QUIT”
(written by author unknown)

Haven’t you run across this beautiful and uplifting poem? Isn’t this beautiful and fitting to all of us overseas pinoys? I’ll be selfish but this has a great meaning to me. It’s as if it was written just for myself. But don’t you just love this? If you’re alone out there, in this crazy world, trying to find meaning why it seems difficult to get up in the morning and go to work, then try reading this once again.

Reyna Elena? A writer? A newspaper columnist?

Reyna Elena? A writer? A newspaper columnist?

So far, I have two (2) invitations to be a columnist and/or a writer for either a Filipino-focused newspaper in Canada and/or an OFW-focused one in the Middle East and I love it! I thought it’s interesting. Yet, I’m not a writer, a novelist, worst, a media person or a journalist! My only journalistic mis-adventure po noon eh magbasa nang Kislap. Hindi po yata pwede yon!

“But “it’s better to appear fool for a moment then learn about it and be wise forever….”  So please teach me how to register, especially those data being asked in the second box.. wala kasi akong mapagtanungan dito… what do you expect from an indian and arab man?”

Pan-limang comment/email ko na nga tong na-receive ko about difficulty logging in which I have submitted sa Wordpress. So to all those na nagtanong what’s going on, sorry po. For the most part daw, baka cookies, kasi the other day, they were down. If you don’t require naman the registration, andaming pumapasok na nagbebenta nang pagpapalaki nang mga maliit, at kung ano ano pa. The drawback, hirap namang pumasok sa website natin. I’ll see what I can do, pero for now, here’s the steps to register:

Stock investing lessons

April 17, 2006 by reyna11 · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Business & Economy, Career & Education

(Follow this thread on http://www.gov.ph/forum/thread.asp?rootID=20666&catID=4&page=4).

Noynie, Vallejos was right. Stock trading is just like running a business. Mas pa yata because you have to stick your eyes unto it.

I’m sure marami ka na sigurong narinig about Pinoys na yumaman sa stock trading. Hindi ako yon. Sila yun.

And I tried my hand on it, kasi gusto ko ring maging Bill Gates kaso natodas yong capital ko, bigtime. Well $2,000 is bigtime sakin. Yon kasi karamihan ang minimum na opening when I started with Ameritrade, then lumipat ako nang eTrade.com. Wala, todas lahat. Nong natalo ako sa kung ano anong magalingakomagtrade.lukalukapalaako.com I tried buyandhold.com kaso, ganun din. Tumigil ako because I was so tired listening to friends na binubulyawan pa ako kung gano ako ka-tanga. Hahaha!

Akala mo ba I stopped? Hindi! He He He Matigas ang ulo nang Reyna. Marami pa aking nilustay na pera.

I happen to have another friend who is hooked into this online investing and voila, meron na akong kasa-kasama na hindi pala katangahan tong ginagawa ko. But I did learned the hard way and is learning some more. He introduced me into this expensive (well - very expensive) online trading education tools that we use to do online trading. This was where I learned all about understanding a stock curbside appeal and then digging into the details. I was introduced to a lot of technical terms that I have to memorize and understand, like:

P/E Ratio, Volume Ratio 5/30, Company Growth Ratio, Debt/Equity Ratio, EPS Rank, Price rank and those are just some of what comprises the curbside appeal. It’s called curbside because gaya nga pag bibili ka nang bahay, you just don’t want to buy a house base kung gano sya kaganda from the outside. Kelangan meron kang full inspection. This full inspection is going into the details.

When you go and analyze the details, you now have to look into the fundamentals nang company. I have to learn technical terms like:

Zacks - How does the future looks?
Market Guide - How has it performed in the past?
Price Pattern -Which direction is the stock moving?
Volatility - Can you stomach it?
News - What’s happening right now?

The stocks are rated on a scale of 1-4, 4 being excellent and 1 bad. There are a lot of technical terminologies that you need to understand, else kumuha ka nang investment officer, kaso ang mahal naman nang mga fees.

I don’t know if you guys could access or even join those online trading platforms na ginagamit namin dito sa US, but I don’t know kung merong counterpart dyan sa Middle East. I know sa Pinas, they don’t have any online trading because I looked for some nong andun ako.
